WoW Forever Fishing guide covering campsite features, new fish, tournament rewards, Legacy perks, trainers, and leveling from 1–300.

Key takeaways
- Fishing receives three campsite recipes: Fish Bowl at skill 20, Fishing Rack at 140, and Fishing Hut at 300.
- New catches expand Cooking: Whimsyfin and other fish support additional foods and crafting recipes.
- Luremaster improves Fishing: The Legacy perk can grant extra fish while a lure is active.
- The Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza is expanded: Current Beta rules allow the first 50 qualifying players to earn the main rewards.
- Fishing retains a 300 skill cap: Expert still comes from a book, while Artisan requires Nat Pagle’s quest.
- Cooking is the best profession to pair with Fishing: Both are secondary professions and work naturally together.
Table of Contents
Fishing in WoW Forever remains a secondary profession, but several new systems make it more useful for leveling, Cooking, gold farming, and group play. Fishers gain three profession-specific campsite objects, new catches, Legacy bonuses, and revised tournament rewards.
Fishing does not consume one of your two primary profession slots, so every character can learn it alongside Cooking and First Aid. Its maximum skill remains 300.

Whimsyfin is one of Forever’s more distinctive new catches. Current player data places its schools in Redridge Mountains, and it is used with Mild Spices to create Savory Whimsyfin Delight.
The cooked item provides a one-hour transformation effect, while the recipe requires Cooking 85.
Seasonal Fish Steaks are particularly important for profession progression because one is required to construct the skill-300 Fishing Hut.

These can remain worthwhile Auction House items because Fishing supplies materials that Alchemists cannot gather through Herbalism.
Fishing schools, wreckage, and treasure
Fishing schools let you target particular catches instead of relying entirely on open-water loot. Find Fish helps locate nearby pools on the minimap.
Floating Wreckage can also contain trunks with crafting materials, potions, equipment, and other items. High-level waters may additionally provide Big-mouth Clams, creating another source of pearls and Cooking materials.
This gives Fishing value beyond simply producing food: treasure pools and profession reagents can make certain routes useful even when you no longer need Fishing skill.
WoW Forever Fishing poles and lures
Fishing equipment raises your effective skill and reduces failed catches.

Fishing campsite features

Fishing receives three dedicated Camping objects.
|

|---|---|---|---|
|

|
Fishing Hut |
300 |
5 Simple Wood, 2 Bolt of Runecloth, 1 Seasonal Fish Steaks |
Rare catches for 1 hour, lures, Fish Bowl benefit |
Current recipes produce two campsite objects per craft, and all three require a nearby Campfire. Camping features share a one-hour placement cooldown.
Fish Bowl
The Fish Bowl is learned at Fishing 20. Nearby seated players gain 8% increased stats, and the effect does not stack with Blessing of Kings.
Because it only requires a Raw Brilliant Smallfish and Empty Vial, it is one of the cheapest Tier 1 campsite bonuses to produce.
Fishing Rack
The Fishing Rack requires 140 Fishing. It unlocks uncommon catches for one hour, provides Fishing lures, and preserves the Fish Bowl buff.
Blueprint: Fishing Rack currently drops from Gelihast in Blackfathom Deeps. Wowhead currently lists a 0.75% drop chance in its Beta database.
Fishing Hut
The Fishing Hut requires 300 Fishing and is the profession’s final campsite upgrade.
It provides access to rare fish for one hour, Fishing lures, and all benefits of the Fish Bowl. Its current recipe uses five Simple Wood, two Bolts of Runecloth, and one Seasonal Fish Steaks.
Blueprint: Fishing Hut exists in the Beta client, but its acquisition source remains TBA.

Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza changes
The Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza receives one of the profession’s largest activity changes.
In current Forever Beta rules, the first 50 players who complete the winning objective can earn the winner rewards instead of only the first player. The winning quest now awards both the Arcanite Fishing Pole and an Extravagant Extravaganza Coin.

Because this is still Beta, the final event schedule and winner implementation should be rechecked once Forever launches.
Fishing Legacy rewards and perks

Fishing does not award Legacy Points for reaching 150, 225, or 300 skill. Instead, points earned through other Legacy challenges can be invested in perks that improve Fishing.

Blizzard officially identifies Luremaster as the dedicated Fishing perk and confirms that it can provide extra fish.
Current Beta data shows 25% and 50% values, with the highest active version providing up to a 50% chance for an extra fish while a lure is active. The way ranks are displayed across databases is still inconsistent, so the final rank structure should be rechecked at launch.

How to unlock Expert Fishing
At skill 125 and character Level 20, purchase Expert Fishing – The Bass and You from Old Man Heming in Booty Bay for approximately one gold.
The book raises the Fishing cap to 225.
How to unlock Artisan Fishing
To progress beyond 225, complete Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme in Dustwallow Marsh at Level 35 and Fishing 225.
The quest requires four special catches:
|
Quest fish |

Feralas Ahi |
Feralas |
|

Swamp of Sorrows |
|
Sar’theris Striker |

Returning all four to Nat Pagle unlocks Artisan Fishing and progression toward 300.
How to level Fishing in WoW Forever
Fishing skill is gained through successful catches, so you do not need to constantly move to higher-level zones simply to gain skill. Harder waters mainly offer different or more valuable catches and may require additional effective Fishing skill.
A simple WoW Forever Fishing 1–300 route is:
|
Fishing |
Recommended area |
Important unlock |
|---|---|---|
|
1–75 |
Starting zones |
Fish Bowl at 20 |
|
75–150 |
Capitals, Westfall, Barrens, Darkshore |

|
150–225 |
Dustwallow Marsh, Stranglethorn Vale |
Expert book; Fishing Rack |
|
225–300 |
Feralas, Tanaris, Hinterlands, Felwood |
Artisan quest; Fishing Hut at 300 |
Start with a Fishing Pole and Shiny Baubles. Before reaching the 150 cap, buy the Expert book in Booty Bay. At 225, complete Nat Pagle’s quest, then finish toward 300 in higher-level waters such as Feralas or Tanaris.
For a complete zone-by-zone route, catch estimates, lure recommendations, and Cooking combinations, use a separate WoW Forever Fishing leveling guide 1–300.
And that wraps up our WoW Forever Fishing guide.
