Table of Contents
Blacksmithing in WoW Forever is much more than the familiar profession for forging weapons and heavy armor. Forever adds 197 new Blacksmithing recipes, new role-specific Mail and Plate equipment, Belt Buckles, free field repairs, three campsite objects, Merchant’s Favor plans, Legacy progression, and new high-level crafting materials.
The profession still retains its Classic identity: you turn bars and stone into weapons, shields, Mail and Plate armor, sharpening stones, weightstones, rods, keys, and other useful items. The difference is that Blacksmithing now provides meaningful benefits throughout the entire 1–60 journey rather than concentrating most of its interesting rewards near maximum skill.

The October 10 client lists 197 completely new Blacksmithing recipes alongside 186 changed recipes. That makes Blacksmithing one of the professions with the largest amount of new Forever content.
Blizzard has confirmed more than 600 new recipes across all professions, along with new profession-based Camping features and advanced Blueprints obtained from dungeon bosses.
What’s new in WoW Forever Blacksmithing

Many familiar Classic recipes have also had their skill-up ranges moved earlier, which is important when leveling the profession. A Classic Blacksmithing route therefore cannot simply be copied directly into Forever.
Blacksmithing specializations
The Forever Beta client retains the familiar Blacksmithing specialization structure:
|

The branches are present in current data, but their complete Forever progression has not yet been verified at the levels where the original specialization quests would normally become available.
New Blacksmithing recipes in WoW Forever

Blacksmithing receives 197 new recipes in the current Beta client, with additions spread across low-level leveling gear, weapons, role-specific armor, utility, Camping, and Level 60 equipment.
One of the most noticeable additions is a large collection of armor families designed around different stat profiles.

This structure gives Blacksmithing useful gear for Warriors, Paladins, Shamans, and other weapon users across a much wider portion of leveling than original Classic. Individual pieces begin appearing surprisingly early; Merchant’s Favor plans for some Chain Belts require only 45 Blacksmithing.
Notable new Blacksmithing plans
A few recipes show how the profession scales from early leveling gear into high-end equipment:
|
Plan |
Blacksmithing |
Current source / cost |
|---|---|---|
|
Crusader’s Chain Belt |
45 |
30 Merchant’s Favor |
|
Acolyte’s Boots |

|
Enriched Thorium Breastplate |
300 |
120 Merchant’s Favor |
|
Legionite Glaive |
300 |
120 Merchant’s Favor |
Current Beta vendor data shows early plans costing 30 Merchant’s Favor, mid-level plans moving through 60 and 90, and several skill-300 recipes costing 120. Some higher-level plans also carry Friendly or Honored reputation requirements in their current item data.
At the top end, Blacksmithing also introduces recipes using Heavy Thorium Bars, Azerothium Bars, and Legionite Bars. Heavy Thorium and Azerothium are part of Forever’s expanded Mining progression, while Legionite currently appears in several powerful Level 60 Blacksmithing crafts.
Blacksmithing perks
Blacksmithing also provides benefits that go beyond simply learning recipes.
|
Blacksmithing perk |
Effect |
|---|---|
|
Belt Buckles |
Attach an all-stat bonus to waist armor |
|
Repair All Rank 1 |
Repairs equipped gear for free; 8-hour cooldown |
|
Repair All Rank 2 |
Repairs equipped gear for free; 4-hour cooldown |
Blacksmithing Belt Buckles
Four Belt Buckle tiers are currently associated with the profession:
|
Belt Buckle tier |
|---|
|
Silver Belt Buckle |
|
Iron Belt Buckle |
|
Mithril Belt Buckle |
|
Arcanite Belt Buckle |
Belt Buckles provide additional stats through the waist slot and scale into progressively stronger versions as Blacksmithing develops. Their exact final stat values and progression requirements should still be treated as Beta information.
Repair All
Repair All allows a Blacksmith to repair equipped equipment without visiting a repair vendor.
Rank 1 has an 8-hour cooldown, while Rank 2 reduces that cooldown to 4 hours. It is primarily a convenience and gold-saving perk, but it becomes particularly useful during long dungeon sessions, raids, or extended periods away from settlements.
Blacksmithing campsite features

Camping adds another major reason to learn Blacksmithing. Every profession has campsite objects, and Blacksmithing progresses from a combat buff into portable crafting stations.
|
Camp item |
Skill |
Materials |
Effect |
Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Sharpening Wheel |
20 |
1 Rough Stone, 1 Copper Bar |
Grants the Blacksmithing camp buff |
Trainer / Camping 101 |
|
Anvil |
140 |
5 Bronze Bars, 2 Coarse Grinding Stones, 2 Medium Leather |
Provides an Anvil and lower-tier benefits |
Blueprint: Anvil |
|
Master Forge |
300 |
1 Golem Heart, 5 Thorium Bars, 2 Rugged Leather |
Provides a Master Forge and lower-tier benefits |
Blueprint: Master Forge |
The Sharpening Wheel is learned at skill 20. Blizzard’s written Deep Dive described its effect as increased Attack Power, while the current Beta tooltip grants Strength and makes it mutually exclusive with Strength of Earth Totem. Until that discrepancy is resolved, the current Beta tooltip is the safer description for actual gameplay.
The Anvil unlocks at 140 Blacksmithing and can act as a portable crafting station. Current Beta drop data places Blueprint: Anvil on Gilnid in The Deadmines.
At 300, the Master Forge provides the advanced station needed for recipes that specifically require one. Its Blueprint exists in the Beta client, but its acquisition source is currently TBA.
Higher-tier Blacksmithing camp objects preserve the Sharpening Wheel’s benefits, so upgrading your campsite object does not force you to choose between the profession buff and the crafting station. Camping objects also share the system’s one-hour placement cooldown.
How to unlock Blacksmithing recipes
Blacksmithing plans come from considerably more sources than profession trainers alone.

Blizzard specifically confirmed that advanced Camping Blueprints can come from dungeon bosses, encouraging professions to interact with normal adventuring rather than functioning as isolated crafting menus.
The largest new structured source, however, is Merchant’s Favor.
Merchant’s Favor and Blacksmithing recipes

Merchant’s Favor is the new currency tied to the Azeroth Commerce Authority for Alliance and Durotar Supply and Logistics for Horde.
Players obtain Favor by finding Waylaid Supply Crates, filling them with requested materials, and turning them in at their faction’s trade camp. The currency is then spent on profession recipes and other rewards.
Blacksmithing currently has 60 recipes specifically identified as Merchant’s Favor purchases in the October 10 recipe dataset. A Blacksmithing Certification is sold separately.

|
Horde |

Useful current coordinates are approximately /way 10.3 74.4 for the Alliance Blacksmithing vendor and /way 49.8 29.6 for the Horde equivalent.

The higher tiers currently introduce reputation gates as well. For example, several skill-175 recipes require Friendly, while skill-225 to 300 plans can require Honored with the appropriate trade faction.
Blacksmithing Legacy rewards and perks

Blacksmithing also contributes directly to the WoW Forever Legacy System.
The first time your account reaches each major Blacksmithing milestone, you earn one Legacy Point:
|
Blacksmithing milestone |
Legacy reward |
|---|---|
|
150 Blacksmithing |
1 Legacy Point |
|
225 Blacksmithing |
1 Legacy Point |
|
300 Blacksmithing |
1 Legacy Point |
Blizzard officially lists three Legacy Challenges for every non-gathering primary profession: skill 150, 225, and 300.
Several Legacy perks are particularly useful to Blacksmiths:
|
Legacy perk |
Blacksmithing benefit |
|---|---|
|
Working Overtime |
Improves your chance of gaining profession skill points |
|
Dedicated Study |
Daily increase to your lowest tradeskill |
|
Bartering |
Reduces gold prices when buying from vendors |
|
Performance Bonus |
Chance to receive additional Merchant’s Favor |
|
Field Guide |
Reduces the cooldown of campsite features |
|
Permanence |
Extends party, raid, and Camping buffs |
|
Reagent Economy |
Removes material costs from Tier 1 campsite features |
Working Overtime is particularly valuable because Blacksmithing consumes large quantities of bars, stone, leather, and other materials. Any reduction in the number of crafts needed to gain skill can represent a meaningful gold saving.
WoW Forever Blacksmithing trainers
You can learn early Blacksmithing ranks from trainers throughout Azeroth, but the important progression points are:
|
Rank |
Recommended trainer |
|---|---|
|
Apprentice |
Blacksmithing trainers in cities and leveling settlements |
|
Journeyman |
Major-city and regional Blacksmithing trainers |
|
Expert – Alliance |
Bengus Deepforge, Ironforge |
|
Expert – Horde |
Saru Steelfury, Orgrimmar |
|
Artisan – Both factions |
Brikk Keencraft, Booty Bay |
Brikk Keencraft in Booty Bay remains the important trainer for Artisan Blacksmithing, requiring 200 Blacksmithing and character level 35 before you can progress beyond skill 225. Forever also adds profession trainers for newer starting experiences, including Skyborne areas, so you do not need to travel immediately to an old capital simply to begin Blacksmithing.
And that wraps up our WoW Forever Blacksmithing guide.
WoW Forever Blacksmithing FAQ
Best profession to pair with Blacksmithing
Mining is the best profession to pair with Blacksmithing in WoW Forever. Blacksmithing consumes huge amounts of ore, bars, and stone from the beginning of the game through skill 300.
Not every reagent comes from Mining, however. Blacksmithing also uses leather, enchanting materials, elemental reagents, gems, and other profession resources, so even a Blacksmith/Miner will still interact heavily with the Auction House and other crafters.
Players with a Mining alt or enough gold can instead combine Blacksmithing with another crafting profession, but Mining + Blacksmithing remains the simplest and cheapest default combination.
Is Blacksmithing worth learning in WoW Forever?
Yes, Blacksmithing looks considerably more useful in WoW Forever than it was during much of original Classic leveling. Blacksmithing can provide useful leveling gear, specialized Mail and Plate armor, weapons, Belt Buckles, free repairs, campsite buffs and more.
