This currency is needed to purchase new gear, mounts, a new heirloom ring — Band of Radiant Echoes — and other limited collectible items. The gear comes with item level 480, upgradeable to 510. Such ilvl is enough to carry players through the early half of the upcoming expansion.
How many Residual Memory you need to get all Radiant Echoes rewards
To get all the necessary Radiant Echoes rewards, you will need approximately 351052 of Residual Memory. This currency drops from all the enemies who are part of the event. The number is approximate because some gear may also drop from enemies during the event. If lucky enough, you may need less Radiant Memory than the number we’ve suggested above to get everything.
Best Residual Memory farming spots
The event occurs in three zones which change each hour. The zones in question are Dragonblight, Dustwallow Marsh, and Searing Gorge. It consists of two parts. In the first one, players must defeat many event-specific enemies to meet a goal. Completing that requirement will advance the event into the second phase, where players must defeat an area-specific boss. After the victory, it resets back to Phase 1. There is also a portal in Legion Dalaran that leads to the current zone with the active event.
There is also a downtime between zone changes. In that downtime, you can continue to farm enemies in the last relevant zone for more Residual Memory. It doesn’t count toward Phase progress, however.

Do the daily event quests
Each zone participating in the event offers a daily quest that involves defeating a zone boss, totaling three quests. Completing each quest rewards you with a substantial 3,000 Residual Memory.
Previously, a specific method allowed for quick Residual Memory farming by using alternate accounts to repeat quests and transfer the currency to your main account. However, this trick no longer works as the quests are now account-bound. To compensate for this change, the Radiant Echoes quests have been made daily and now offer increased rewards.
Defeat the zone bosses
With the recent overhaul of the Radiant Echoes event, bosses now offer an excellent opportunity for fast Residual Memory farming. Blizzard has addressed previous issues by reducing the bosses’ overall HP and scaling. Each boss defeated now rewards you with 1,400 Residual Memory. And since defeating a zone’s boss resets the zone and all associated activities, you can repeatedly take down the bosses within the 60-minute active period to maximize your Residual Memory gains. Once the active zone time is up, you can move on to another active zone and continue farming for additional Residual Memory with the same tactics.
Optimize your downtime
There is a downtime between the events in the zones. Using that time efficiently may help maximize Residual Memory drops. Even if it ends in the area, the enemies that drop the currency still remain. Finding a convenient spot without other players can help to speed up that process. You may also consider using the Looking for Group feature. Many like-minded players are currently farming the event.
