Radiant Echoes revamp: Timer, quests, rewards, and more
With Blizzard’s recent Radiant Echoes revamp, The War Within pre-patch event is now playable and is actually enjoyable.

Since their release, the Radiant Echoes event and The War Within pre-patch have faced considerable criticism. A few days ago, Blizzard implemented some changes to the pre-patch event that reduced bosses’ HP and added Flightstones and Crests to the reward pool to make it more bearable.
However, it wasn’t until now that players finally considered the event playable, thanks to another round of fixes that almost revamped the whole event.
The latest adjustments have accelerated Radiant Echoes and improved its rewards. Blizzard had eliminated the frustrating downtime that often occurred after the first few moments when the zone became active. Now, there is a continuous stream of activities throughout the event’s duration. You will always have something to do, and farming currency and gathering upgrade materials for catch-up gear are now easier. So, are the recent fixes really doing magic? Let’s take a look at what they are and how the event works now, and you can decide for yourself if it’s worth giving Radiant Echoes another chance.
Radiant Echoes event cycle timer reduced from 90 to 60 minutes
The time cycle of Radiant Echoes was the main pain point that made many players turn their backs on the event. After all, who would want to wait an hour and a half for a slight chance at tagging the bosses in a tight window for a few minutes? With Radiant Echoes event cycle timer reduced from 90 minutes to 60, the zones will swap over more often.
Radiant Echoes revamp: Zone resets after boss defeat
One of the key improvements in the Radiant Echoes revamp is the elimination of downtime. In its earlier concept, only the first few minutes when the zone became active were significant. That was when all activities occurred—from killing mobs and completing objectives to defeating the zone’s boss. But that’s no longer the case now. The revamped event now continuously resets as soon as the zone’s boss is defeated. Events, spawns, and even bosses will respawn indefinitely throughout the active period.
Radiant Echoes no longer features four phases. Instead, a “Memories Remaining” meter at the top of your screen will indicate the zone’s progress. As you complete objectives, this meter depletes. When it reaches 0%, the event boss will appear. After defeating the boss, the zone resets, and the meter refills, allowing you to repeat the process and gather rewards as often as you like.
Weekly quests become dailies and are now account-bound
For altaholics, this update might be the highlight of the day. Blizzard has revamped the Radiant Echoes weekly quests to be account-bound and available daily instead of weekly. With an abundance of quests, mobs, and bosses now populating the event, Radiant Echoes has quickly become a prime spot for character progression. And to add, the rewards for these quests have seen a significant boost. You can find more details in the “Rewards” section below.
Rewards
With the Radiant Echoes revamp, the event’s rewards have also seen a substantial increase. Other than the arrival of Crests and Flightstones, the scenarios, bosses, and quests now also give more currency than before:
- Completing an event objective that lowers the Memories Remaining meter grants you 200 Residual Memories and some Whelpling’s Awakened Crests.
- Defeating a boss rewards you with 1,400 Residual Memories, a notable rise from the previous 500, and also drops Drake’s Awakened Crest.
- Daily quests now provide up to 3,000 Residual Memories each, doubling the previous amount of 1,500. And let’s not forget that you can also earn some Flightstones and Crests by completing these quests.
With constant actions, quicker progression, numerous drops, and increased rewards, Radiant Echoes has become an excellent way to quickly upgrade your gear.
All the fixes for Radiant Echoes mentioned above are now live, so you can log in and test them out now. At the moment, Blizzard is also addressing other pressing issues. For instance, they are now dealing with the occasional scenarios that get stuck and can not be completed. That said, with the new format, if you ever encounter problems with the current scenarios you’re doing, you can always switch to other active scenarios to continue your progress.
