The best Rogue talents in WoW Forever depend heavily on your preferred playstyle. Assassination focuses on Mutilate and Poisons, Combat provides reliable weapon damage and powerful cooldowns, while Subtlety revolves around Stealth, Ambush, Backstab, and Hemorrhage.

The current WoW Forever Beta is capped at Level 30, giving Rogues 21 standard talent points. Level 60 builds can already be planned with all 51 points, but they remain preliminary because maximum-level gameplay is not currently available.

Best WoW Forever Rogue talent builds

Here are our recommended WoW Forever Rogue builds for the current Beta and their preliminary Level 60 targets:

Assassination and Combat have relatively clear paths at the current level cap. Subtlety is less settled: dedicated Level 30 guides favor investing deeply enough to reach Hemorrhage, while hybrid dagger builds remain possible. At Level 60, community Subtlety builds are also more varied than the other two specializations.

All three builds can still change before launch.

Best Assassination Rogue talents in WoW Forever

The best current Assassination Rogue talent build at Level 30 is 21/0/0, investing every available point into Assassination and unlocking Mutilate.

Build: 21/0/0

Mutilate is one of the biggest additions to Assassination in WoW Forever. It attacks with both weapons, generates two Combo Points, and deals 20% additional damage against Poisoned targets.

Forever also makes Poisons considerably more important for Rogues. Malice can increase Poison Critical Strike chance, Improved Poisons improves application, and the deeper Venom talent eventually strengthens both Poison damage and application rate.

Assassination Rogue leveling talents

For Assassination Rogue leveling, use this progression toward Mutilate:

This route is designed around the current Level 30 build. Other current guides move a few points into Remorseless Attacks or finish Lethality instead, so there is some flexibility in the exact pre-30 order.

The main target is Mutilate at Level 30.

Level 60 Assassination Rogue build

The current preliminary Level 60 Forever build is 38/11/2.

Deep Assassination adds several important talents:

• Murder
• Vile Poisons
• Improved Poisons
• Seal Fate
• Venom
• Mutilate

Supporting Combat points provide talents such as Puncturing Wounds and Precision, while two Subtlety points can be invested into Opportunity.

38/11/2 is currently one of the most commonly published Assassination Level 60 builds, but it should still be treated as theorycraft. Another current leveling source prefers 39/12/0, showing that the final supporting points remain unsettled. We’ll update the final build once Level 60 becomes playable.

Best Combat Rogue talents in WoW Forever

The best current Combat Rogue talent build at Level 30 is 0/21/0, reaching Blade Flurry while improving your normal weapon attacks and finishers.

Combat is particularly attractive while leveling because it does not require you to constantly attack from behind or enter Stealth before every enemy.

A current damage-focused setup can include:

The key target is Blade Flurry, which increases melee attack speed by 20% and allows your attacks to strike another nearby enemy for 15 seconds.

Combat Rogue leveling talents

For the damage-focused Combat Rogue leveling build, use:

Improved Sinister Strike is particularly useful because it lowers the Energy cost of the ability you will use for much of normal leveling.

Precision helps reduce missed attacks, while Dual Wield Specialization strengthens your off-hand weapon. At Level 30, Blade Flurry finally gives Combat a strong option when fighting two enemies.

Level 60 Combat Rogue build

The current Level 60 target is 18/33/0.

Combat eventually builds toward:

• Dual Wield Specialization
• Hack and Slash
• Weapon Expertise
• Aggression
• Blade Flurry
• Adrenaline Rush

Hack and Slash replaces the old separate weapon specialization talents with one flexible talent that changes depending on weapon type:

• Swords and Axes can trigger an additional attack.
• Daggers and Fist Weapons gain Critical Strike chance.
• Maces ignore a portion of enemy Armor.

The 18/33/0 split is currently the most frequently published Combat build in one large community build sample and is also used by current leveling guides.

Your exact early talent distribution may change before reaching it, so expect a respec somewhere during leveling.

Best Subtlety Rogue talents in WoW Forever

Subtlety is less straightforward than Assassination or Combat because there are several reasonable ways to build it at Level 30.

For players who actually want the Subtlety playstyle, we recommend 0/0/21, reaching Hemorrhage while investing into Stealth, Ambush, and Combo Point talents. Multiple current dedicated Subtlety guides use this approach.

A typical Level 30 setup includes:

This setup emphasizes strong openers and Stealth gameplay while giving you Hemorrhage as a more practical Combo Point generator when you cannot remain behind the target.

WoW Forever also adds several deeper Subtlety talents that improve its PvE potential. Cutthroat gives Backstab a chance to make your next Ambush usable without Stealth, while Thousand Cuts connects Rupture damage to cheaper Backstab or Hemorrhage casts.

Subtlety Rogue leveling talents

For a deep Subtlety Rogue leveling build, use:

The weakness is that Subtlety takes longer to come together than Combat. Ambush is not learned until Level 18, and Backstab normally requires you to attack from behind. Current Subtlety guides therefore acknowledge that Combat talents can feel smoother during the earliest levels.

Alternative 2/11/8 Subtlety leveling build

If you prefer stronger regular combat before investing deeply into Subtlety, the 2/11/8 hybrid from your original setup remains another option.

It combines:

• Malice 2/5
• Improved Eviscerate 3/3
• Improved Sinister Strike 2/2
• Puncturing Wounds 3/3
• Precision 3/3
• Camouflage 3/5
• Opportunity 2/2
• Improved Ambush 3/3

This build improves Backstab and Ambush without giving up the early Combat talents that make ordinary quest mobs easier.

The tradeoff is that you do not reach Hemorrhage at Level 30, so we prefer the 0/0/21 setup when the goal is specifically to play Subtlety.

Level 60 Subtlety Rogue build

Level 60 Subtlety is currently the least settled of the three Rogue specializations.

The oriented target is 12/8/31, while current community build data shows 11/8/32 as the most frequently published exact split in its sample. The difference is only a small supporting-point adjustment, but it illustrates why these builds should not yet be considered final.

Deep Subtlety eventually targets talents such as:

• Premeditation
• Preparation
• Serrated Blades
• Hemorrhage
• Cutthroat
• Thousand Cuts

For now, treat around 31–32 points in Subtlety with supporting Assassination and Combat talents as the Level 60 direction rather than a locked final build.

Best Rogue spec for leveling in WoW Forever

For general leveling, Combat is our recommended Rogue spec. It gets useful talents immediately, works with a wide variety of weapons, does not depend heavily on positioning, and reaches Blade Flurry at Level 30. Current dedicated leveling guides also identify Combat as the smoothest overall 1–60 route.

Assassination is the strongest alternative if you specifically want dagger and Poison gameplay. Once you reach Mutilate at Level 30, the specialization gains a clear identity around Poisoned targets and rapid Combo Point generation.

Subtlety is best for players who enjoy Stealth, Ambush, PvP, and more deliberate combat. It can level effectively, but normal solo enemies tend to face you, making positional attacks less convenient than Combat’s Sinister Strike gameplay.

Your weapons still matter significantly. A strong weapon upgrade can be more valuable than staying perfectly committed to one theoretical leveling setup.

WoW Forever also makes several class-wide improvements relevant to all three specs. Poisons now scale with Attack Power, Hit affects Poisons alongside melee attacks, and Energy regeneration uses a smoother modern-style system rather than the original Classic tick behavior.
