Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide: All Factions and Rewards

Welcome to our Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide! With the arrival of Cataclysm, WoW Classic players get access to 8 new factions, each offering unique progression and rewards, with 1 more faction arriving a bit later with the Firelands raid.

Among the 8 factions available at launch, 2 are exclusive to the Alliance, 2 are for the Horde, and 4 are available for players on both sides. To help you get started with reputation grinding, this Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide will provide you with everything you need to know about these factions and the rewards they offer.

Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide: Alliance Factions

Baradin’s Wardens

The first of two unique factions for the Alliance is available in the Tol Barad PvP zone. To gain a reputation with the Baradin’s Wardens, you must participate in specific activities on the island, such as the Battle for Tol Barad and the Baradin Hold raid.

You will also have access to the faction’s daily quests, which are available starting from Neutral Reputation. Nonetheless, you will not gain a reputation for wearing their tabard in dungeons. 

By completing daily quests and participating in the Battle for Tol Barad, you can earn a unique currency known as Tol Barad Commendation. This currency is essential for obtaining faction-specific rewards from Quartermaster Brazie. Wildhammer Clan

Once you complete several quests in the Twilight Highlands, this dwarven faction will become Friendly to any Alliance player. After that, you can speak with the clan’s Quartermaster, Craw MacGraw, to obtain a Tabard of the Wildhammer Clan. Wearing the tabard in dungeons can help you gain additional reputation. As your reputation improves, you will unlock the following Cataclysm Classic Reputation rewards:

Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide: Horde Factions

Hellscream’s Reach

Hellscream’s Reach serves as the Horde counterpart to Baradin’s Wardens in the Tol Barad PvP zone. To increase your reputation with Hellscream’s Reach, Horde players must participate in the Battle for Tol Barad, undertake the Baradin Hol raid, and complete daily quests for the faction, which become available at Neutral reputation.

It is important to note that wearing the Hellscream’s Reach Tabard in dungeons will not grant additional reputation. Similar to the Wardens, completing daily quests and participating in the Battle for Tol Barad will earn you Tol Barad Commendations.

Dragonmaw Clan

The Dragonmaw Clan is located in the Twilight Highlands and is the Horde equivalent of the Wildhammer Clan for Alliance players. Similar to the Wildhammer, you can gain access to the Dragonmaw Clan by reaching the Friendly reputation level, which requires completing quests in the zone.

Once you’ve achieved this reputation level, you can visit the clan’s Quartermaster, Grot Deathblow, to obtain the Tabard of the Dragonmaw Clan. Wearing this tabard in dungeons will earn you additional reputation with the clan. As your reputation improves, you will unlock the following Cataclysm Classic Reputation rewards:

WoW Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide: Neutral Factions

The following 4 factions in this Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide are available for all players, no matter if they stand with the Alliance or fight for the Horde.

Earthen Ring

To earn favor with the shamans of the Earthen Ring, you must complete quests in Vashj’ir, Deepholm, or the Twilight Highlands until you reach a Friendly reputation level. Anyway, completing all the quests in these areas will raise your reputation level to Revered. 

To continue earning reputation points for the Earthen Ring in Cataclysm Classic, you must obtain the Tabard of the Earthen Ring from Provisioner Arok, who can be found in Vashj’ir, inside Silver Tide Hollow in the Shimmering Expanse zone. Therazane

Therazane‘s elementals are the only faction that starts at a reputation level of Hated rather than Neutral. To earn the Stonemother‘s trust, you must complete all the quests in Deepholm. This will increase your reputation to Friendly. 

Once you reach Friendly status, you can continue to improve your Cataclysm Classic reputation with Therazane by completing daily quests or wearing the Tabard of Therazane, available for purchase from D’lom the Collector. As your reputation improves, you will unlock the following Cataclysm Classic Reputation rewards:

Guardians of Hyjal

The Guardians of Hyjal are located in Mount Hyjal. You can become Friendly with them by completing a series of quests in the area. To reach Revered status with the faction, you must finish all the quests. 

Afterward, you can further build your reputation by completing the faction’s daily quests or by wearing the Tabard of the Guardians of Hyjal. This tabard is available for purchase from Provisioner Whitecloud at Nordrassil Inn. Ramkahen

To build a reputation with this Tol’vir tribe, you must complete quests in the Uldum zone. However, only half of the zone’s quests will earn you reputation points with Ramkahen, which will be sufficient to reach the Honored reputation level. 

To continue gaining a reputation with Ramkahen, you have two options: complete the faction’s daily quests or wear the Tabard of Ramkahen in dungeons. You can obtain the tabard from Abasi, the blacksmith located in the central city area of Uldum. As your reputation improves, you will unlock the following Cataclysm Classic Reputation rewards:

BiS Cataclysm Classic Reputation Rewards for Each Class

Druid

Druids are a versatile class, capable of serving in specs such as Balance, Feral Tank, Feral DPS, and Restoration. Therefore, they must wear Leather gear suitable for each spec. 

If you’re a Druid, the reputation you should focus on depends on your chosen role or spec. The Wildhammer Clan or Dragonmaw Clan are excellent choices if you plan to cover multiple roles in Cataclysm Classic. These factions offer gear suited for all three specs and provide support for healers and casters.

Additionally, Balance Druids can benefit from Spirit, despite being a DPS spec. This is because of their Balance of Power talent, which converts Spirit into Hit Rating. In our Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide, we have gathered the gear you should use as a Druid:

Death Knight

Death Knights can fulfill both tank and DPS roles thanks to specs like Blood, Unholy and Frost Death Knight. Thus, Therefore, they should  get Plate gear from the factions in the table beneath.

Ramkahen and the Guardians of Hyjal offer level 359 gear for Unholy, Frost, and Blood Death Knight players, while Therazane provides an epic shoulder enchant for all roles. As a Blood Death Knight, you will receive rewards regardless of which reputation you prioritize first.

However, Unholy and Frost Death Knights do not have relevant rewards from the Earthen Ring. It’s also important to note that the Guardians of Hyjal‘s reputation offers Blood Death Knights a cloak and waist armor. Although these items are slightly more DPS-focused, they feature a significant amount of Mastery, which is beneficial.

Hunter

Hunters only have one role, so all three specs such as Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival Hunter share the same primary stat.

Their choices are straightforward: 2 factions offer enchants, 2 provide gear. Unfortunately, the Alliance and Horde ones offer no rewards for reaching Exalted. In our Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide, we have gathered the gear you should use as a Hunter:

Mage

Mages have only one DPS role, and all three specs such as Arcane, Fire, and Frost Mage share the same primary stat. Therefore, their choices are relatively straightforward: 2 factions offer enchants, and 3 provide gear.

Paladin

Paladins can fulfill the roles of Tank, DPS, and Healer, so they require Plate armor for specs such as Protection, Retribution, and Holy.  

Paladins have a variety of specs to choose from when it comes to gaining their reputation. Depending on whether you prioritize getting quick 359 upgrades or ensuring you have the right enchants for your gear, you can make your choice freely. However, if your main focus is on DPS, avoiding the Earthen Ring is advisable. In our Cataclysm Classic Reputation Guide, we have gathered the gear you should use as a Paladin:

Priest

Priests can fulfill two different roles such as DPS and Healer, but three specs like Shadow, Holy, and Discipline. Unlike many other caster DPS classes, Shadow Priests can benefit from Spirit thanks to their Twisted Faith talent. As a result, the distinction between healing and DPS gear reputation is almost nonexistent when looking for potential pre-raid gear.

Rogue

Rogues should use Agility leather gear for all three specializations: Assassination, Combat, and Subtlety. When it comes to reputation choices, the decision is entirely up to you. However, it’s best to avoid the Guardians of Hyjal, as they have no enchants or gear available at Exalted. Shaman

As a Shaman, you can make use of both Agility and Intellect Mail gear. That said, it is important to note that any Mail gear containing Spirit is not exclusive to the Restoration spec. Anyway, thanks to the Elemental Shaman talent called Elemental Precision, you can benefit from Hit Rating for Spirit on gear.

The reputation split for you as a Shaman player heavily depends on what you plan to play and whether you prioritize Agility or Intellect gear. For example, when it comes to pre-raid epics, the Ramkahen faction may not be the best choice for both Elemental and Restoration specs.

However, it provides the head enchant for Enhancement. On the other hand, the Wildhammer Clan and Dragonmaw Clan provide gear for the Enhancement and Restoration specs but not for the Enhancement one.

Warlock

As a Warlock, you should prioritize Intellect loth gear for the Affliction, Demonology, and Destruction specs. Warrior

Warrior is a versatile class that excels at tanking and dealing damage. It has three specs: Protection, Arms, and Fury, all of which wear Plate armor.

Just as with Death Knights, the belt from the Guardians of Hyjal has a significant amount of Mastery. Therefore, it’s suitable for all specs, even though Crit is more about dealing damage than defending in WoW Cataclysm Classic.
