With the launch of The War Within Patch 11.1.5 on April 22, 2025, many players eagerly jumped into the new Nightfall scenario in Hallowfall. However, many quickly ran into a frustrating bug that prevented (and is still preventing) them from completing the event.
The issue centers around the Sureki lieutenant Anub’Ranax, Nightfall scenario’s final boss. Even after players defeat him, the game doesn’t register his death. As a result, players are left stuck in a scenario that can’t be completed despite clearing all other objectives.
To make matters worse, players have reported that the Nightfall scenario is now permanently bugged in certain shards. Apparently, the boss phase from the first event appears to have carried over into subsequent instances. As a result, players in affected shards are no longer being offered proper objectives, let alone finishing the event.
What may cause the Nightfall scenario bug
Early reports suggest that the Nightfall scenario bug may be related to server lag. During lag-heavy phases, the system appears unable to properly register the boss kill.

The situation has been especially frustrating for those trying to finish the event quickly or farm reputation with the new Flame’s Radiance faction. Progress on the Flame Fortification quest, available upon entering the Flame’s Radiance hub, is also blocked. And since the weekly quest The Flame Burns Eternal is tied to the Nightfall scenario, players are missing out on it as well.
Until Blizzard rolls out a fix, you may want to steer clear of the Nightfall scenario. Playing during off-peak hours or switching shards may help you avoid the bug. However, if you notice delays or unresponsive mechanics, it’s best to wait for a more stable phase to avoid wasting time and effort.
