Bungie revealed what to expect from dungeons and raids in Destiny 2 Frontiers year.

Raids and dungeons changes in Destiny 2 Frontiers

As promised, Bungie has released Developer Insight articles, one of which focused on our favorite endgame content: raids and dungeons. A lot of exciting changes are on the way, so let’s take a look at them!

Raid changes

Raids are a crucial activity in Destiny, and the developers have confirmed once again: they are not going anywhere. In Codename: Apollo, players will experience a new raid rivaling the rich and varied history of previous raid experiences. Raids will continue to feature a complete pool of exclusive weapons, armor, and Exotics, so loot-oriented players have nothing to worry about.

Master raids and Challenges system has barely changed over the years, so it will be completely overhauled in Codename: Apollo. All new raids will feature Challenge Customization, where players can choose “Feats” modifiers. These modifiers will vary widely, with examples like Time Trials, Contest Combatants, and other mode-specific modifiers unique to each raid. The more active Feats a team engages, the greater the rewards they will earn.

In the first major update following Codename: Apollo, a Raid Challenge Update will introduce new rewards, mechanics, Feats, and possibly even new encounters. Alongside this update, there will be a Raid Race event for experienced raiders. To top it off, new weapons and a catalyst for the raid’s Exotic weapon will be added.

Though all of this sounds promising, Bungie hasn’t said a word about Legacy Raids, which have been returning to Destiny 2 over the past three years. It seems likely they’ve put this idea on hold for now, so we shouldn’t expect the return of raids like Wrath of the Machine or Leviathan for at least the next two years.

Dungeon changes

The developers have decided to completely do away with Dungeon Keys, and instead of offering two dungeons for $20 per year, there will be one dungeon in the Codename: Behemoth expansion. Unlike previous dungeons, this one will feature six weapons instead of four, which will surely please fans of dungeon activities.

Additionally, with the release of the Portal System, which we mentioned earlier, some older dungeons will receive full Challenge Customization. However, no loot updates for these activities have been mentioned, so it’s unlikely we should expect any.

New RAD event

Bungie is not hiding the success of The Pantheon event. After the release of Codename: Behemoth in the Spring 2026, players can look forward to another similar event, this time focusing on legacy raids and dungeons. The developers promise to surprise us with aspirational challenges, but they are not yet ready to reveal all the details about this event.

Final words

So, here you go, everything we know about upcoming raids and dungeons changes with a new event info. Also, you might be interested in checking out new combatant modifiers coming to Destiny 2 soon. They will play a huge role even in Episode Revenant!
