Much to the surprise and satisfaction of many gamers, Blizzard Entertainment has brought back a controversial piece of dialogue in Cataclysm Classic. Specifically, it involves an exchange between Garrosh and Sylvanas:

Garrosh’s line, which includes the word “b***h,” had been omitted from the game’s narrative for the past four years. It all started with a team member who stumbled upon the use of the B-word while playing with their child. They voiced their concerns about the choice of words with Steve Danuser, who was the Lead Narrative Designer at the time. And shortly after, the word was removed from Garrosh’s mouth.

Danuser felt that its removal didn’t diminish Garrosh’s intended message. However, for many players, the omission of the word “b***h” stripped away a crucial element that accentuated Garrosh’s abrasive personality. It really brings out his wrath and contempt, adding an extra layer of anger and hostility. It highlights Garrosh’s complete lack of friendliness and deep-seated animosity towards Sylvanas. Without calling Sylvanas names, of course, his core message still comes through. But the absence of this word has dramatically softened his tone, reducing the level of anger and hatred conveyed through his words.

So, needless to say, fans are erupting with excitement at the return of Garrosh’s aggressiveness in Cataclysm Classic. However, since it’s still in the beta stage, we can’t know if this word is here to stay.

What are your thoughts on the reintroduction of this contentious word? Are you in favor of embracing the grittier side of World of Warcraft, or do you prefer the game to maintain a more tame and conventional approach? Share your opinions in the comments below!
