Specific class mechanic in SoD: Priest Meditation mechanic
To unlock the Priest Runes, having an active Meditation buff is essential, with some requiring two buffs. These buffs last for 4 hours, persist through death, and are acquired by meditating (/kneel) at specific worship spots.b
Initially, your character can only access Meditation buffs that align with their race’s faith. For instance:
- Dwarves and Humans can meditate at holy sites like Northshire Abbey, the Stormwind Cathedral altar stairs, Altars of Light in Anvilmar, Loch Modan, and the Mystic Ward in Ironforge for Meditation on the Light.
- Night Elves can get Meditation on Elune by using Moonwells in places like Stormwind or Darnassus.
- Undead characters can attain Meditation on Undeath at any graveyard.
- Trolls can obtain the Meditation on the Loa at Loa Altars, such as those found in Sen’Jin Village or at The Barrens’ Crossroads.
To obtain a second Meditation buff, one efficient method is to /kneel in front of a Priest who has a different faith buff and have them /pray while targeting you. By sharing their active Meditations, you can acquire additional buffs crucial for accessing the latter set of Runes in phase one.

New Priest Runes
In Season of Discovery Phase 5, Priests get two new ring Runes: the Rune of Meditation Specialization and Rune of Healing Specialization. For details on how to get them, check out our dedicated guide:
Also, unlocking specific Runes has become simpler thanks to Pix Xizzix, who now sells special bind-on-account emblems for 5x Tarnished Undermine Real each (this currency has a cap of 150 and can be earned from Onyxia, Azuregos, and Lord Kazzak). To get these emblems, you’ll need to complete shared discoveries like Dark Riders, Wild Gods, Ley Lines, or Illari Duskfeather.
Once you buy an emblem, you can send it to an alt character, who can then trade it at a Rune Broker in their faction’s city for a class-specific Rune. As a Priest, you can use these emblems to purchase the following Runes from Rune Brokers:
- Luminous Epiphany: Costs 1x Emblem of the Violet Eye (complete the Dark Riders questline)
- Psychosophic Epiphany: Costs 1x Emblem of Dishonor (complete the Illari Duskfeather questline)
- Resolute Epiphany: Costs 1x Emblem of the Wild Gods (complete the Wild Gods questline)
- Rune of Despair: Costs 1x Emblem of the Worldcore (complete the Leylines questline)
You can find the Rune Brokers at these locations:
- Alliance:
- Stormwind: Cut-Throat Alley at [57.5, 26.9]
- Ironforge: The Forlorn Cavern at [53.0, 12.8]

- Alliance: Lost Heirloom from High Priestess Laurena in Stormwind [38.8, 26.6].
- Horde: Lost Heirloom from Dietrich Praice in Orgrimmar at [35.8, 87.2].
- Retrieve three relics in the Sorrow Hill Crypt, Western Plaguelands, at coordinates [54, 79]:
- Family Heirloom: Found at [54.8, 81.2]. Enter the crypt, go left, head downstairs, and look in a small alcove to the right.
- Family Records: Located at [53.8, 80.2]. At the bottom of the crypt, on a bookshelf to the right.
- Survivor Journal: Positioned at [54.1, 80.7]. At the bottom of the crypt, on a table to the left.
- Once you’ve gathered the items, head back to your quest giver to submit them and receive a new quest called Relic of Light.
- Head to the Town Hall at coordinates [42.2, 18.1] in Western Plaguelands and retrieve the journal from the lectern.
- Return to your quest giver and receive your next task, Scarlet Research.
- Head to Tyr’s Hand in the Eastern Plaguelands. There, ascend the bell tower at [84, 78] and search for a locked box that will provide you with the quest, The Prize Within. While you’re there, remember to pick up the Holy Specialization Rune, which is also found in the same location!
- Unlock the Puzzle Box in one of the following ways:
- Defeat the Scarlet Cleric in Tyr’s Hand at around [80.0, 83.2] repeatedly until you obtain the Artifact Storage Key, then use it to open the Box.
- Ask a Rogue with a Lockpicking skill of 175 or higher to unlock the Box for you.
8. Retrieve the Shard of Light from the Box and take it to the initial quest giver. As a reward, you will receive Jubilant Epiphany, from which you can learn the Rune.
How to get Soul Warding Rune in SoD
Soul Warding: Your Power Word: Shield no longer has a cooldown, costs 15% less mana, gains 15% additional base value, and gains an additional 50% of your healing power.
How to get Soul Warding:
- Enter Stratholme through the main entrance. After entering, take the first double left turn. You will find the Stratholme Courier boss in this area.
- Defeat the Stratholme Courier and loot the 3 keys from him. The player who loots the keys will use them on specific mailboxes scattered throughout the dungeon.
- The first mailbox to open is right next to the postmaster. Using a key on a mailbox spawns a brown box attached to the mailbox. As a Priest, you must search the box for one Stratholme Shadow Jar for each boss’s corpse. Then, use the Jar on the specific boss’s corpse to collect the boss’s Echo.
- After obtaining the first Jar, proceed to the Living area building and make your way up to the hallway with two large square stone pillars. This is just before the descent towards Cannon Master Willey. In this room, you will find three small brazier stands, each with a clue related to a boss whose Echo you must collect using a Jar.
- Read the three clues, one on each brazier, and use them to figure out the exact three bosses you need to defeat in order to collect their Echoes:
- Maleki the Pallid: “Among the dead, this mortal dwells with acolytes and icy spells.”
- Baroness Anastari: “A specter cursed to guard a tower. No solace gained from Wealth or power”
- Nerub’enkan: “The ancient kingdom rediscovered. Trades one master for another.”
- Ramstein the Gorger: “Built from the flesh, a sin of science hunted by Forsaken’s finest”
- Magistrate Barthilas: “The people looked to him to lead in their hour of greatest need”
- Baron Rivendare: “A champion of wicked malice, hulking horrors guard his palace”
- Balnazzar: “Holy furor purges sin, and yet a shadow lurks within.”
- Cannon Master Willey: “The smell of brimstone fills the room. This zealot greets you with a boom.”
- After deciding which three bosses to defeat and ensuring you still have your first Jar, you can take on the first boss in any order you prefer.
- Once you have defeated the boss, use the Stratholme Shadow Jar from your inventory on the boss’s corpse to collect their Echo (Do not use the Echo on the braziers yet). After using the Jar, it will disappear, freeing up space in your inventory to loot a new Jar from a different mailbox.
- Find and retrieve a new Jar from any mailbox in the designated area.
- Defeat boss number 2 (in any order) and use the second Jar on it to retrieve your second Echo in your inventory. You can hold all 3 Echos in your inventory, but you cannot have more than 1 Jar. If you open a second mailbox before using the first Jar, you won’t be able to retrieve the brown box that appears when using a key on a mailbox, and your 3 Echos will be lost. In that case, you must reset the entire dungeon and start over.
10. After collecting the second Echo in your inventory, retrieve your final Jar by looting any mailbox with the last of your three keys.
11. Defeat the last boss of the three specific bosses you identified earlier by lighting the braziers (don’t forget!), and collect your final Echo from their body by using the final Jar on it.
12. Return to the room with the 3 braziers. Use the correct Echo on each respective brazier. When all three are lit, an extra light will spawn in the center of the room. Right-click on the spawned light to loot the Oneiric Epiphany item. As a Priest, you can use this item to learn the Rune if you have 2 Priest Meditation buffs. Make sure to have these buffs before going in or obtain them afterward.
Remember to open only a mailbox when you do not have a Stratholme Shadow Jar in your inventory because you can only carry one Jar at a time. Any brown box that spawns from an opened mailbox disappears shortly after, so you must have used up the Jar in your inventory before you can loot another one. The trick is to use one key, loot the Jar, and use that Jar on a specific boss corpse before using one of your three keys on another mailbox. This is crucial to remember.
Note: Multiple players can loot the Oneiric Epiphany.
