The WoW roadmap 2026 has changed significantly since the start of the year. Midnight is now in Season 2, Blizzard has revealed the expansion’s final major update, and the long-rumored Classic+ project has emerged as something much bigger: World of Warcraft: Forever.

WoW roadmap 2026 overview
At the beginning of the year, most of Blizzard’s plans revolved around Midnight, Classic progression, and several still-mysterious projects. After BlizzCon 2026, the picture is much clearer.

Retail WoW roadmap 2026: Midnight
2026 remains primarily the year of World of Warcraft: Midnight. The expansion launched earlier this year and has already moved into Season 2, with Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek introducing the Coiled Isle, Venomous Abyss raid, new progression, and refreshed seasonal content.
The remainder of the 2026 Midnight roadmap now revolves around Patch 12.1.5 and the updates that begin setting the stage for Eclipse.
Midnight Patch 12.2 Eclipse
While technically outside the 2026 calendar, Blizzard has already revealed where Midnight goes next.
Patch 12.2: Eclipse arrives in early 2027 and will be Midnight’s final major content update. Players descend into the Mantle Vault, where Xal’atath is attempting to reach Azeroth’s Worldsoul. Blizzard describes Eclipse as the conclusion of Midnight’s main conflict and the bridge toward The Last Titan.

WoW Forever roadmap 2026
Blizzard revealed WoW Forever at BlizzCon 2026 as a new permanent version of Azeroth built by the team behind WoW Classic.
It is set between Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom and Molten Core and reimagines original Azeroth with new zones, races, quests, systems, dungeons, raids, and ongoing development.
WoW Forever release date
The WoW Forever Beta began September 17 and runs through October 21, 2026 for eligible players. The beta gives Blizzard several weeks to test the rebuilt world, class systems, new racial abilities, Legacy progression, dungeons, professions, and other major changes before launch.
World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026 at 3 PM (PST). Normal access is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time.
WoW Classic roadmap 2026
Classic WoW also remains active throughout 2026, although Blizzard’s biggest announcement for players interested in an expanded Vanilla experience is now technically its own project: World of Warcraft: Forever. Classic Era, Hardcore, Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary, and Mists of Pandaria Classic continue alongside it.
Mists of Pandaria Classic is currently in its final major raid tier: Siege of Orgrimmar. The biggest unanswered question remains what happens afterward.

Blizzard has not announced Warlords of Draenor Classic. For now, there is no confirmed continuation beyond Mists of Pandaria Classic, so any WoD Classic release date remains TBA.
Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary roadmap 2026
Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary launched earlier in 2026 and has now progressed significantly beyond its opening phase.
On August 27, Blizzard released:
- Black Temple
- Battle for Mount Hyjal
- Netherwing daily hub
- Arena Season 3
- Epic Gems
That puts Anniversary realms deep into TBC’s endgame. Later content such as Sunwell Plateau remains part of Burning Crusade’s natural progression, but Blizzard has not yet provided a final 2026 release date for the remaining phases.
