WoW’s 20th anniversary promises to be its most exciting celebration yet, featuring a variety of new events, bosses, mounts, pets, toys, transmogs like the Tier 2 raid sets, and more!

With WoW’s 20th anniversary coinciding with the Warcraft franchise’s 30th, Blizzard is gearing up for one of its most ambitious celebrations yet. This event could be the biggest in WoW’s history, packed with exciting activities, rewards, and a new type of currency: Bronze Celebration Tokens. You’ll get to revisit the Blackrock Depths raid, explore Classic WoW dungeons, and enjoy engaging minigames in the Caverns of Time. Exciting new events like Fashion Frenzy, Storyteller, and more are also here to crank up the fun with exhilarating rewards. And that’s not even everything. When is WoW’s 20th anniversary start date
WoW’s 20th anniversary start date is October 22, 2024. Blizzard has announced that the celebration will last until January 6, 2025.
WoW’s 20th anniversary raid and dungeons
Blackrock Depths raid
Blackrock Depths was a significant part of early WoW, beloved by some and dreaded by others. Blackrock Depths returns as a 10-15 player raid for WoW’s 20th anniversary. This revamped dungeon features 8 main bosses, 5 mini-bosses, and is available in three difficulties:
- LFR
- Normal
- Heroic
You’ll run the raid alongside Moira Bronzebeard and the Bronze Dragonflight, all the while exploring the history of the Dark Iron Dwarves.
Timewalking Classic WoW dungeons
These dungeons will return in the 20th anniversary event. However, that won’t be the last time you’ll see them in WoW retail, as they remain in the regular Timewalking rotation afterward:
- Deadmines
- Zul’Farrak
- Dire Maul (2 wings)
- Stratholme (2 wings)
Players level 10 and above can queue for them via the Adventure Journal or Group Finder.
Timewalking offers a great chance to level up. And to sweeten the deal, Baron Rivendare’s Deathcharger is still dropping in Stratholme!
There will be updates for the Timewalking vendor as well so you can expect to see more new mounts, pets, and cosmetics for Timewarped Badges.
WoW’s 20th anniversary events and activities
The Caverns of Time
This year, you can join a variety of new and returning activities without having to venture deep inside the Caverns. Instead, all events will be held just outside, near the area where you usually fight Doomwalker during past celebrations.
Fashion Frenzy event
Join the Fashion Frenzy stage hosted by Althaea, where you’ll get themed dress-up challenges and have your transmogs voted on by other players.
Guest Relations event
Help Alyx, the new guest relations volunteer, with the Caverns of Time celebration. Each week, use your secret-finding skills to assist Alyx in resolving guest mysteries and tracking down stolen celebration goods.
Ice ring
Celebrate WoW’s 20th anniversary with a special ice ring! Glide and slide with grace and enjoy the festivities at your own leisure.
Mount Mania event
Join Abigail Cyrildotr at the Mount Mania arena to showcase your mount collection. It’s time to show off the fruits of your hard work and see how your collection stacks up against others!
Disguise as famous WoW heroes or villains, or even your pet!
During WoW’s 20th anniversary event, transform into Khadgar, Illidan, or your favorite pet and join the celebration in style! Also, you can take your role-playing journey to another level with all the most iconic voice lines of your favorite characters.
Storyteller
Join Lorewalker Cho at the Storyteller stage for an epic tale of WoW’s past 20 years. Take a seat, and let’s dive into the story in this engaging theatre!
New World event: Codex of Chromie
Chromie needs Azeroth’s heroes to help her fix a time-warped mess from the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event. Her codex is in disarray, causing out-of-place enemies to appear in Silithus. Join Chromie and the Bronze Dragonflight to relive this historic moment while battling foes from different timelines, including the Scourge, the Legion, Tichondrius, Ossirian, and Kel’Thuzad. Players level 15 and up can queue for this 10 to 20-player scenario via the Group Finder.
New World bosses
WoW’s 20th anniversary will feature classic World Bosses, including Doomwalker, Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, and the Dragons of Nightmare. Plus, watch out for the Sha of Anger and Archavon the Stonewatcher in the sands of Tanaris. Players level 15 and up can help drive these intruders away to earn exciting rewards and anniversary currency.
Korrak’s Revenge
Just like in the previous year, you can participate in Korrak’s Revenge, a throwback Battleground inspired by classic Alterac Valley. Defeat enemies, destroy their fortifications, and use loot tokens to summon powerful reinforcements.
Complete the quest “Korrak’s Revenge” to earn a faction-specific mount: the Stormpike Battle Ram for the Alliance or the Frostwolf Snarler for the Horde.
