The War Within players can have difficulty keeping track of all those weekly activities. There are many things to follow, and some are trickier than others. And as a newcomer, you may ask many questions like how do I get the best gear? We are here to answer those questions and help you follow those weekly activities with our The War Within weekly to-do list.
Also we should remind you that Patch 11.0.7 will release next week on December 17! Be sure to check our overview article to know what to expect from update. Also check our Siren Isle article, as we sure will be doing activities on it. Without further a do, let’s get to our The War Within weekly to-do list.
This week’s rotation
The first question that may arise for new players is when weekly activities are rotated. The answer is that they reset every week with The War Within’s weekly reset time. For the US, Oceania, and Latin servers, it happens every Tuesday at 15:00. For European servers, it happens every Wednesday at 04:00 UTC.
Now, let’s dive deeper into our The War Within weekly to-do list.
WoW Anniversary event
Wow, the Anniversary event is still going, marking the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft and the 30th anniversary of Warcraft as a franchise. It is one of the most significant events in the game’s history, so be sure to check it out!
Remember that all those events and your regular activities award Bronze Celebration Tokens! We’ve got a guide listing all of these activities and rewards in our Bronze Celebration Token guide. At the end of the event, you would need 165 Bronze Celebration Tokens for all pet and mount rewards. You would also need up to 320 tokens for Tier 2 Transmog sets on all your characters of different classes.
Classic Dungeons are still in rotation. Timewalking Dungeons are dungeons featured in the Classic Era of Warcraft but scaled to your current item level. Most of them don’t offer any challenge and can be a great opportunity to farm some starting gear, and quickly level up your characters.
It should be noted that the Anniversary event will end in one month, January 7. If you’ve collected all Anniversary limited rewards, check if you’ve got Felcycle and Blazecycle mounts. Blazecycle is a unique promotion for participating in the Mtn Dew x WoW promotion. Unfortunately, this promotion only includes US Mountain Dew products. However, there are ways to obtain it even if you are not from the US, so be sure to check out our guide to Blazecycle. Felcycle is a new mount given out to players who complete secrets in WoW, like The Hivemind mount. These puzzles are impossible to complete by yourself without knowing the context. Luckily, we have a guide on how to obtain a Felcycle mount.
Weekly Dungeon event
This week, we have the first The War Within Dungeon Event. The event rewards extra loot from normal, heroic, and base Mythic dungeons, along with a Heroic Cache of Nerubian Treasures for completing the weekly quest. You can pick weekly quest from the Player’s Journal or from Archivist Frithrun [46.4, 49.2] in Dornogal.
For the weekly dungeon quest, the updated rules say dungeons can be completed on Heroic difficulty. However, older dungeons like Siege of Boralus won’t count toward the quest. Although Mythic+ dungeons don’t drop extra loot from the final boss, you can still complete them for the weekly quest cache. Players focusing on normal, heroic, or M0 dungeons will get more loot throughout the week. This is especially useful for those farming-based Mythic dungeons, as they now have a daily lockout and are more farmable.
Keep in mind that Mythic dungeons have became less toxic and frustrating due to the bans of M+ leavers, so if you’re new to The War Within, don’t be scared of the community. Also, this event offers a great opportunity to quickly gear up your characters.
PvP Brawl: Cooking Impossible
This 10v10 brawl is similar to a capture-the-flag game, where you need to gather ingredients from the farm and deliver them to your cook at the base. The goal is to be the first team to deliver 30 ingredients. It’s helpful to have a fast player, like a Druid, who can carry the ingredients while avoiding enemy attacks. Keep an eye on the mini-map to locate the ingredients and protect your base, as many players will try to knock your ingredients off or steal them.
In addition to gathering ingredients, your team can gain an advantage by defeating a “thumper” in the field, marked with a gold star on the mini-map. Killing it will turn it into a vehicle with powerful abilities, such as an AOE fear and a kick that knocks players into the air, causing them to drop their ingredients. Use the thumper’s kick wisely to disrupt the enemy and help your team collect their ingredients. Stay near your teammates for support, and consider a strategy where you let the other team run ingredients while you focus on stealing them at the last moment.
World Boss Rotation
World bosses are relatively easy enemies that may drop some high-gear equipment. Defeating them also counts towards the World category in The Great Vault. Currently, there are 4 World Bosses that rotate each week. They are Kordac, Aggregation of Horrors, Shurrai, and Orta. You will be able to find a group for both of those.
Right now, you can test your luck in Hallowfall while defeating world boss Shurrai, Atrocity of the Undersea. There is a slight chance of getting 603 Champion ilvl gear. You can find him in the north of the location on the left twin island in Hallowfall. His coordinates are [45.4, 17.4]
Weekly Great Vault rewards
So what is The Great Vault? The Great Vault is an excellent tool introduced during the Shadowlands expansion. BfA and Legion veterans may even remember its weekly chest prototype. It lets you expect and receive weekly rewards based on your activity. Most precious of them are Tier Set gear pieces. For example, if you play Druid, you would probably want Mane of the Greatlynx set. And you can only get it from raids, using your Catalyst charge, or The Great Vault. We will dive deeper into the rewards from The Great Vault later in the article. Right now, let’s focus on the basics.
The Great Vault is located on the Isle of Drom, precisely in Dornogal. The Great Vault is always highlighted on the city map, so you will never miss it. The coordinates for The Great Vault are [55, 42]. When you click on The Great Vault, you will see that your nine slots are categorized into three sections. You only need to go to The Great Vault for rewards.
If you wish to check your progress on the Vault, access it with the Group Finder. Click on the Delves section and then on The Great Vault.
Or type in this command:
/run C_AddOns.LoadAddOn("Blizzard_WeeklyRewards"); WeeklyRewardsFrame:Show()
Your progress will be tracked in this menu.
For The War Within addon, The Great Vault has such categories as Raid, Dungeons, and World (Delves). Let’s look at those categories and help you with min-maxing profit from The War Within Great Vault.
Delves and World events
You can focus on various The War Within to-do list world activities every week and start upgrading your Great Vault rewards. As we mentioned before, one of the categories you need to complete is World. This category counts World Event activities like weekly activities, assignments, and Delves. Delves are much more profitable.
The Delves offers a brand new experience for you to do in The War Within addon. The neat part is that you don’t need to complete them in a group. There is even no time limit for this activity. You can do regular delves to get some starting gear. But if you wish to get the best gear from Delves, you should do tier 8 Bountiful Delves with Restored Coffer Keys. Check out our article on how to farm those keys and maximize your Bountiful Delves rewards.
To get the maximum out of your Great Vault, you need to accomplish 8 Bountiful Delves. Remember that the rewards scale will be based on your highest-done Delves during the week. For example, completing tier 6 Bountiful Delves will grant you 606 item level Champion gear by the end of the week. Completing 8 tier 8 Delve will grant you 616 Hero equipment. If you’ve only completed 2 tier 8 Bountiful Delves, you’ll get only one slot with the best Great Vault gear. So be sure that all 8 of your Bountiful Delves were tier 8. There is no point in doing tier 9 or higher Delves because rewards only scale from tier 1 to tier 8.
You can check out our article to learn more about the Delves activity. Still wondering where to start with Delves? We’ve got you covered. With our easy-to-follow Delves tier list, you will complete the World category without stressing. Once you’ve completed Delves, you can go for the Dungeon and Raid categories until the weekly reset time for The War Within.
Dungeons
The War Within weekly dungeon activity is the best choice to upgrade your gear quickly. Towards this category, count all dungeons you walk through, even from Timewalking events (they count as Heroic runs), regular heroic runs, and regular Mythic dungeons. Mythic plus dungeons also grant high rewards for their completion and count towards the Great Vault. In season 1, there are currently 8 Mythic plus dungeons in rotation.
- Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
- City of Threads
- The Dawnbreaker
- The Stonevault
- Mists of Tirna Scithe
- The Necrotic Wake
- Siege of Boralus
- Grim Batol
The gear from The War Within mythic+ dungeon is scaled. For example, 10+ Mythic dungeons will grant you 613 Hero gear after completion, Heroic provides you with 580 ilvl gear, and regular Mythic 597. These are items that you can get after completing dungeons.
As for The Great Vault, here is the short version of the gear options. You’ll get Veteran 593 ilvl gear if you’ve completed Heroic dungeon. When you go for a mythic, you’ll get 603 Champion gear. And then, with a higher Mythic+ level, you can loot up to 623 Myth 1 gear. To get the best rewards from the Dungeons category, you should complete eight unique Mythic +10 dungeons from this season’s rotation, which can be extremely difficult.
As you can see, Mythic +10 rewards are incredibly juicy, so take advantage of them.
Raids
Now, let’s have a quick look at raiding activity. You don’t have to defeat all raid bosses for your The War Within to-do checklist. To complete your Raids category, you must defeat six bosses from Nerub-ar Palace. All raid progressions count from LFR to Mythic difficulty.
When you defeat a later raid boss, you can also earn loot from all the earlier bosses. For instance, if you only defeated Queen Ansurek, you’ll gain 1/6 progress toward your Vault for this week. Additionally, the loot from Nerub-ar Palace will be added to your vault pool for the raid slots.
You should only remember that to get the best equipment in all Raids slots, you need to defeat bosses from higher difficulties. For example, if you have cleared 7/8 Normal but only 3/8 Heroic, you will only get 1 Heroic quality piece of gear. The other two slots will give you gear from Normal difficulty raids.
The Mythic difficulty raids, however, are nigh on impossible for casual players. Not even all guilds can complete the whole raid. And with randoms, you have a high chance of not getting through even the first two bosses. So don’t be ashamed of using boosting services.
So here is the summary for The War Within Great Vault reset time. Overall, you can choose between Delves, Dungeons, and Raid categories. Based on your preferences, you can select either of them or do all of them. Even if you don’t like those rewards, you can exchange them for Algari Token of Merit currency, with which you can buy more crests or Nerubian Gemweaver. Don’t forget to adjust your Loot Specialization.
World activities
Khaz Algar offers many opportunities to gear up characters and increase reputation level with factions of renown. The thing about The War Within weekly reset time activities is that they all grant you weekly caches. The first two weekly caches will guarantee a piece of veteran gear. The first four weekly caches will contain a Restored Coffer Key for Bountiful Delves. Don’t skip on those activities, and let us list your weekly to-dos.
Theater Troupe
While on The Isle of Drom, you can see many activities on your map. Go for a Theater Troupe event if it’s available. Before starting various activities, talk to Stage Manager Huberta [56, 51] and get her quest.
Each activity progresses to your Audience Approval bar, which depends on your performance on stage. The first phase of the event consists of various tasks, like cleaning the stage or steering the stampede away from the theater, and lasts about 5 minutes.
The show will begin in the next phase of the event. Get to the center, put on a costume, and start completing the following objectives. Those activities consist of various cooperative objectives, like protecting actors from enemy NPCs.The theater will always conclude with a Rare Elite boss fight. After the event, remember to bow and receive your final Audience Approval.
You will be granted either green, blue, or purple Actor’s Chest based on your performance. You can do this event multiple times, talk to the quest giver again after the timer expires, and start over again. However, you can only get 1 Theater Troupe’s Trove from the weekly quest.
Theater Troupe’s Trove consists of 590 item-level Veteran gear, 1 Restored Coffer Key, 1,000 reputation with the Council of Dornogal, 54 Valorstones, and 5 Carved Harbinger Crests. It will be a lovely addition to your The War Within weekly to-do list.
Awakening the Machine
Awakening the Machine is an outdoor event, and its related cache will count towards your The War Within weekly to-do list. Once you reach Renown 3 reputation with The Assembly of the Deep, you can go to Gundargaz and pick up on the event.
Talk to Speaker Kuldas [47.4, 32.0] to teleport to the area, and remember to pick his weekly quest. Once in the area, speak to him again to proceed with the event. In this event, your goal is to protect Speaker Kuldas from waves of mobs while he is conducting the ritual. Waves vary in types of enemies and scale cumulatively.
The event concludes with the Speaker Kuldas getting to 0 hp, or after surviving 20 waves. You will be rewarded in Awakened Cache near Speaker Kuldas based on your performance. To complete a weekly quest, you need to do 20 waves.
Doing them in one go for your weekly to-do list is optional. For example, you can complete seven waves on the first try and then complete 13 waves on the second try to get an Awakened Mechanical Cache.
However, completing 20 waves grants you more resources, crests, and a reputation with The Assembly of The Deep. There is also a chance to get a Machine Defense Unit 1-11 mount. Don’t forget that you can do this event after The War within weekly reset time again.
Spreading the light
Our next point for The War within weekly checklist will be the Hallowfall location. The Spreading the Light event’s primary objective is to light up four Lesser Keyflames. To light up Keyflames, you need 3 Radiant Remnants that drop from mobs near the Keyflames. The neat part of this event is that after The War, within weekly reset time, you will probably still have some Remnants left.
The reward for this event is Radiant Cache, which contains crests, resources, and reputation with Hallowfall Arathi. You can do extra objectives while doing the Spreading the Light quest for more supply. Those objectives are Bog Beast Banishment, A Better Cabbage Smacker, and Cutting Edge.
Final weekly activities
We will finish our The War Within Weekly To-Do List with other minor activities you shouldn’t ignore.
Special Assignment
Look for the area in which you can Special Assignment quest available. To unlock Special Assignment, you must complete two more World Quests. After completing Special Assignment, you will be granted Seasoned Adventurer’s Cache. Like any other weekly quest, it is available again with The War within the weekly reset time.
Severed Threads Pact
You may only forge a pact with a Severed Threads leader once per week, and once a pact is forged, the pact is Warband-bound – so you won’t be able to grind other leaders with your alts. You can form a Pact by talking to Lady Vinazian at the Weaver’s Lair. Pacts are reset with The War Within weekly reset time. Once you commit to one of the Pacts in Azj-Kahet, world quests will be available to complete.
Extra
You can check areas with golden orbs as a daily activity. Just flying through them will quickly cap your Weathered Crests to Level 80.
Once you’ve done all the Delves required for your great vault reset time, you can try out defeating Zevkir. Defeating Zevkir is more manageable than doing raids and Mythic+ dungeons. However, it is still challenging and offers a challenge like Mage Tower. You’ll need to complete it solo to earn all the exclusive seasonal rewards.
Finally, with The War, within weekly reset time, you will get one extra Catalyst Charge to convert PVP or veteran gear into a class 4-set piece.
Timewalking event
Timewalking events are nostalgia-inducing events that run for the whole week. While those events are active, you can run dungeons from past expansions. It’s an excellent opportunity to quickly level up your alts or catch them up to High-End content while completing dungeons of the past. Some gear can even help you with doing high-end activities. Commonly, there will be a quest for completing 5 Timewalking dungeons. However, for some events like the Burning Crusade Timewalking event, there will be a quest to defeat the last boss from the raid of the past.
Right now, the calendar for those activities looks like this.
Cataclysm
- December 17 to December 23
Conclusion
With our The War Within weekly to-do list, you won’t miss any important activity, and you will be able to quickly gear up your character or alt for the high-end content. Thanks for reading this article, and follow us for even more The War Within content!
