Vaults of Atal’Utek guide for WoW Midnight Season 2
The Vaults of Atal’Utek is a new endgame World content area introduced in WoW Midnight Patch 12.1, found underneath The Coiled Isle.

Table of Contents
Key takeaways
- Prioritize the main event loop: Temple Strike → Temple Incursion → Ancient Foe, as it gives the best Corrosive Coin and weekly reward value.
- Spend early Corrosive Coins on Altar of Corrosion progression, especially Coin-generation and movement talents, before buying cosmetics.
- Complete rotating Vault achievements and weekly rewards whenever available, since Ancient Foes, Strikes and Patrol variants can delay long-term progression.
There is quite a lot going on inside the Vaults, and knowing which activities to prioritize can massively speed up your Corrosive Coin farm and Altar of Corrosion progression. Read more for achievement guides, collector’s guide, and further mechanics.

Vaults of Atal’Utek guide

There are four repeatable activities inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek: Temple Patrols, Temple Strikes, Temple Incursions and Ancient Foes. The main event loop is Temple Strike → Temple Incursion → Ancient Foe.
Temple Patrols are optional. Temple Strikes remain active while waiting for the next Incursion, which can begin roughly 15 minutes after the previous Incursion ends. Once the timer is ready, completing the active Strike triggers the Incursion, and finishing it immediately spawns the weekly Ancient Foe.
Corrosive Codex does affect Vaults of Atal’Utek activities.
Temple Patrols
Temple Patrols are small optional activities that constantly appear around the Vaults and can be completed solo. The main event rotation is focused around Temple Strikes → Temple Incursion → Ancient Foe. Temple Patrols:
- Reward 20 Corrosive Coins.
- 3 Patrols become available every 10 minutes.
- Usually involve killing enemies, collecting items or interacting with objects.
- Best used as filler between larger events.
- Required for several Vaults achievements.
Do not travel across the Vaults just for a single Patrol if a Temple Strike or Incursion is active.
Temple Strikes
Temple Strikes are the main repeatable events inside the Vaults. There are 6 different types of Temple Strikes: . Temple Strikes:
- Reward 75 Corrosive Coins.
- Can be completed solo, but groups are much faster.
- Usually involve several objectives and Elite enemies.
- Completing the active Strike can trigger the next Temple Incursion.
Temple Incursions
Note
An active Incursion should almost always be your highest priority.
Temple Incursions are larger group events with a 10-minute time limit. There are 3 Temple Incursions:
- Summoning Ritual – Collect ritual ingredients and defeat the summoned enemy.
- Cache of the Three – Collect 3 staves and return them to the cache.
- Supplies Must Flow – Escort a supply wagon and clear its path.
Temple Incursions:
- Reward 175 Corrosive Coins.
- Require several objectives to be completed.
- Much faster with a group.
- Completing an Incursion immediately summons an Ancient Foe.
Ancient Foes
Note
Only one Ancient Foe is active during each weekly rotation.
Ancient Foes are the final bosses of the Vaults event cycle. There are 3 Ancient Foes: Congealed Malice, Susarikk, Khu’tulak. Ancient Foes:
- Spawn immediately after a successful Temple Incursion.
- Reward 200 Corrosive Coins.
- Have a 10-minute time limit.
- Your first weekly kill gives additional progression rewards.
