Choose the best Brann role and curios

Choose the best Brann role and curios

In Season 2 The War Within Delves, Brann has three roles: DPS, Healer, and Tank. All these specs can become a great help during your runs. However, some Brann specs work better with certain classes and player specializations. Here is an example:

Curios are one of the main aspects of optimizing Brann for your Delves runs. You can always pick one utility and one combat curio for every run. These upgrades grant Brann new abilities that can heavily impact your performance in Delves. To learn more about how you can optimize Brann with curios, read our guide:

Upgrade Brann

Upgrade Brann

Leveling up your brave Brann companion is very important as it makes him relatively stronger. After level 15, the only way to upgrade him is to complete Bountiful Delves. One Tier 8 Bountiful Delve gives him somewhere about 45.000 XP (one full level up to Lvl 30). Sadly, there is a limit of 4 Bountiful Delves per day on one character. But since Brann is Warband-wide, leveling him up can be extremely fast if you have any alts, which you also complete Bountiful Delves with. To learn more, read our Brann leveling guide.

Gearing up your character also upgrades Brann, strengthening him with every ilvl point. The community discovered that reaching ilvl 595 grants him a serious power spike. So, to learn more about ways to upgrade your gear, check our The War Within gearing guide.

Buffs inside Delves

Buffs inside Delves

Boons

Inside Delves, you can obtain different buffs (boons). You can find them after defeating Elites, opening chests, or picking up some interactive items during your solo Delves runs. These buffs can be game-changing, and most stay with you until you complete the current Delve. If you feel not powerful enough to beat the boss or the next pack, try searching for boons you haven’t picked up yet.

Cozy Campfire

And this is not it for Brann Bronzebeard! At the beginning of every Delve, Brann places a Brann’s Cozy Campfire after the battle. Clicking on this campfire will let you eat and regenerate some health and mana like you usually do. But if eating for more than 10 seconds, you will receive a Well Fed buff that increases your main stat by 5%. This very powerful buff also stacks with your other food buffs (like Jester’s Board or Empress’ Farewell).

Sometimes, Brann places a campfire after enemy encounters when you reach low health. We recommend trying to ”bait” Brann for this campfire to appear, letting your health drop low. You can do it just after the first pull in a Delve or before the boss fights or tough enemies.

Talent swaps

Talent swaps

This is a core mechanic for any Delves completion that many players forget entirely about. Remember that you can swap talents and even specs as much as you want, even during the Delves walkthroughs. It is very well known that some skills are better for AoE damage and groups of enemies. The other ones are performing much better against solo targets like bosses, Elites, and Rares. Before every pull, ask yourself: ”Do I need more single target damage here? Or do I want to cleave all enemies as soon as possible?” And change your talent layouts to fit your current needs. You can pre-save several builds for different situations and switch between them in the Talents window.

Interrupts and Crowd Control

Interrupts and Crowd Control

Interrupts can save your life in many situations during your Delves Tier 8+ runs. This mechanic is crucial for the successful completion of any high-tier Delve. For example, interrupting Nerubian ThreadmancersWeb Bolt or Nerubian DarkcastersShadows of Strife is necessary. Missing a few of these can make you end up in the cemetery.

Crowd Control (CC) is also very helpful in Delves. Stunning, dazing, or delaying your enemy’s casts can buy you more time to defeat it before it fights back. We recommend giving up on some talents for the sake of more CC abilities. These just show themselves way too good in Delves.

Potions, food buffs, and other consumables

Potions, food buffs, and other consumables

Contrary to popular feeling, potions and food buffs should not be put off until later. Learning to use every possible strengthening is necessary for performance improvement. Here is what you can use to power up:

You might also find elixirs like Draenic Water Breathing Elixir very useful in underwater Delves like Tak-Rethan, Waterworks, and Sinkhole.

If your class has no Heroism/Bloodlust abilities, you really have to make or buy a few Thunderous Drums for your runs. This consumable will make your big pulls and boss fights much easier!

Together, these consumables just make you stronger overall. This can heavily increase your chances of succeeding during your solo Delves Tier 8+ runs.

Don’t hurry

Don't hurry

”Haste makes waste” they say. And it is the absolute truth. Delves are not concentrated on hurrying and completing the activity before time runs out. Delves are not a Mythic plus racing competition. Always remember that you can take your time before any enemy encounter. Don’t be nervous; keep your head cold, and plan your actions if needed.

Don’t hesitate to use your strong cooldowns just because you are not 100% sure they will be ready before the next pull or boss fight. Sometimes, you might need to practice using these here and there before finding the best timings.

Study and learn

Study and learn

Practicing and learning are essential to any improvement. A wise approach and a sense of purpose can make miracles. Here are things we recommend you pay attention to when learning:

Enemies and their abilities

Know your enemy. Watch closely at every ability, mechanic, and peculiarity your enemies can offer. Did you just suddenly die to something? Try paying more attention next time you pull the same group. Did you not notice a void zone under your feet? Which abilities are the most dangerous? Which ones should you use your interrupts and CCs on? One precise look can sometimes make a huge difference. Once you figure out how to avoid unnecessary damage or when to use your defensives most efficiently, there will no longer be a challenge you can’t beat.

Movement

Dodging, kiting, positioning your enemies, and keeping pace with your damage. All of this is movement mastering. Try practicing and experimenting with the way you handle the battlefield. Casters are especially sensitive to changes in their movement. Learning timings, stutter-steps, dashes, and blinks is a key to the best performance. At first glance, you might see little impact. But trust us, all together, these skills make a huge difference.

Rotation

Solo Delves is one of the best ways to learn more about your class or specialization. Just pressing 1 -> 2 – > 3 – > 4 isn’t realistic for most WoW TWW content. Check your Spellbook. Haven’t you forgotten about any self-healing skills or utility abilities? Make sure you understand your passives, extra-procs, and the main essence of your spec. Mastering your rotation can be quite tricky, yet so satisfying!

Reset your run

Reset your run

If your solo Delves Tier 8+ run starts looking insolvent, you can try again. Reset your run completely by exiting. Once you’re out of the Delve, click on your character’s portrait and choose ”Reset all instances”. Don’t worry, the Delve will stay Bountiful if you don’t finish it. You can make another full try with new remaining lives. Try checking what you could’ve missed. Step back, analyze the situation, take a break if needed, and dive back in.

Last parting words
