Table of Contents
What are The War Within Delves
The War Within Delves gives a unique endgame experience, blending open-world and instanced content into shorter, more accessible challenges that take 10 or 15 minutes each. You can take on Delves solo or with up to five players, using any class or role combination.
Delves differ from Mythic+ or Torghast in that there’s no timer so that you can explore them at your own pace. They also feature a unique gear progression system. As you advance, you’ll unlock higher difficulties and better rewards, such as resources, treasures, or consumables, just like in other endgame activities.
Khaz Algar has 13 Delves, each offering a unique storyline that changes weekly. The difficulty of these WoW Delves increases with each Tier, making enemies tougher and challenges harder. At the highest levels, like Tier 11, the difficulty reaches extreme levels, providing a severe challenge for the bravest Delvers.
The War Within Delves Tiers
If your character has never been to Delves in The War Within, you’ll start with Tier 1, and until you reach the maximum level, there’ll only be three Tiers for you to go to. Once you reach level 80, obtain 548-level plus gear in every slot, and complete the main campaign, you’ll earn the War Within Delves: Endgame achievement to access the Delve Tier 4. After successful completion of Tier 4, you’ll unlock Tier 5 and up to the maximum Tier 11.
The War Within Delves item-level requirements
Just like in other PvE activities like raids and dungeons, you’ll need to reach the recommended item level to join Delves in The War Within and confidently take on its challenges. As you can see, the item level doesn’t go up after Tier 8, meaning it offers maximum-level rewards. Such high WoW Delves Tiers are designed for completing specific achievements and those players willing to test their mettle. Here are The War Within Delve item-level requirements:
Tier number | Recommended item level |
Tier 1 | 561+ |
Tier 2 | 564+ |
Tier 3 | 571+ |
Tier 4 | 577+ |
Tier 5 | 584+ |
Tier 6 | 590+ |
Tier 7 | 597+ |
Tier 8 | 603+ |
Tier 9 | 603+ |
Tier 10 | 603+ |
Tier 11 | 603+ |
The War Within Delves locations
As we’ve mentioned, there are 13 Delves spread all over Khaz Algar, with each location offering 2 to 4 Delves created in its unique Fungarian, Shadow Caster, Kobyss, Nerubian, and Kobold style in Season 1. The 13th Delve is still hidden, but it’s expected to be the toughest and most rewarding. Blizzard will unveil it when the expansion is released. Here is a list of all The War Within Delve locations:
Zone | Delve locations |
Isle of Dorn | Earthcrawl Mines: [38.7, 73.6] Kriegval’s Rest: [62, 42] Fungal Folly: [52.3, 66.0] |

The War Within Delves Revive counter
The War Within Delve Revive counter is what allows you to track from Tier 4 and onward how many times you die without being resurrected before failing the Delve. Of course, this affects the quality of loot you’ll receive, which means fewer deaths equal better loot. Resurrection spells can prevent the counter from increasing, but reviving with a Soulstone still counts as an unrecovered death.
The War Within Delves Boons
The War Within Delve Boons are bonuses you’ll earn through specific encounters, such as fighting rare elites like Stolen Loader, finding quirky interactive objectives like Construct Canker, and opening chests. These bonuses remain with you until you leave the Delve, with no option to choose which Boon is received. These Delve Boons include the following ones:
- Reno’s Random Reactions: The ability gives a chance for an attack to randomly throw an item from Reno’s backpack, which can either root, stun or damage one enemy or multiple ones.
- Lucky Cursed Potion: It temporarily doubles your maximum health, but the effect ends when your health falls below 66%.
- Perfect Shield: When your health falls below 25%, you become immune to all damage, harmful effects, knockbacks, and forced movement for 10 seconds.
- Loader Signal: The Magnetic Loader occasionally assists you in combat by pulling enemies toward it for 5 seconds before exploding, dealing 178,279 Fire damage. This effect can occur once every 120 seconds.
- Construct Canker: It boosts your damage by 15% and increases your size by 20% until your health drops below 50%.
Another essential thing to mention is that Brann Bronzebeard, your The War Within Delve companion in Season 1, may find an Ancient Artifact while gathering tools. This grants a Boon that provides a small percentage bonus to either a primary stat like Ancient Power or a secondary one, such as Ancient Swiftness, Ancient Savagery, and Ancient Hunger.
The War Within Bountiful Delves quest
The War Within Bountiful Delves is a quest you can pick up at level 80 from the Delver’s Guide. This quest involves locating a Delve, which offers you a Bountiful Coffer reward and obtaining a Restored Coffer Key. This Coffer provides extra currencies, new or upgraded Curio, a Radiant Echo, and powerful armor. The exact conditions to unlock this quest are still unknown, but we’ll update them once new information arrives.
There are two methods to get the Restored Coffer Key in The War Within:
- Collect and merge 100 Coffer Key Shards, which you can get by completing world quests, participating in the Radiant Echoes event, and other outdoor Khaz Algar events.
- After reaching level 10 with The Assembly of the Deeps, you can purchase the Key from the Sir Finley Mrgglton and Waxmonger Squick vendors. The location of the Bountiful Delve, which allows you to earn these Keys, rotates and can be checked on your in-game map.
Completing the War Within Bountiful Delves quest also rewards you with the Delver’s Dirigible mount. You can cosmetically upgrade it by participating in other Delve-related activities and earning achievements.

The War Within Delves companion
The War Within Brann Bronzebeard becomes your versatile Delve companion in Season 1. He will accompany every party consisting of 1 up to 4 players, alert you to nearby treasures, and warn you of dangers to which you should pay attention. What’s interesting is that Brann Bronzebeard can also assist you with gathering valuable crafting materials, such as skin, ores, herbs, and fish, without you learning particular profession skills.
Additionally, he can use special trinkets called Curios, which are obtained from chests after completing Delves. Brann gains Warband-shared experience, allowing him to learn new skills and use high-level Curios by defeating mobs, looting end chests, and occasionally picking up experience-boosting items found on the ground.
Brann Bronzebeard Delves Curios in Season 1
Brann offers two types of Delve Curios, Combat and Utility, which you can use one at a time. Curios can only be swapped at the Explorers’ League Supplies. They are obtained from treasure chests in Treasure Rooms after successful Delve completion and can be upgraded by finding higher-level Curio versions as you advance through Tiers. Here’s a list of all the Brann Bronzebeard Delve Curios in Season 1:
Combat Curios
- Idol of Final Will: Brann targets a player to guide his shot for 4 seconds, then fires a powerful attack that deals significant physical damage to the first two enemies it hits.
- Porcelain Arrowhead Idol: Brann’s spells and abilities can make enemies weaker, which boosts the chance of landing a critical strike on them by 80% for 5 seconds.
- Unbreakable Iron Idol: It activates when your health drops below 40% during combat, dealing medium physical damage toward nearby enemies and taunting them for 10 seconds. This effect can only happen once every 2 minutes.
- Idol of the Earthmother: Brann’s spells and abilities can activate an idol that shields an injured player, restoring 70% of their missing health.
- Rage-Filled Idol: Brann enters a combat rage that increases his damage output by 5% every 2.5 seconds for 10 seconds, but he also takes 3% of his maximum health as damage per second during this effect.
- Light-Touched Idol: It automatically heals you for 4% of your maximum health every second for 10 seconds whenever you use a defensive ability with a cooldown of 30 seconds or longer.
Utility Curios
- Relicblood of Zekvir: During combat, a bloodbeast will occasionally attach itself to Brann, launching pieces of itself towards players. If players walk through these pieces, they receive the Bloodstained Blessing, which boosts their damage and healing by 10% but also reduces their maximum health by 10% for 1 minute.
- Olden Seeker Relic: When Brann is Gathering Tools, there’s a 50% chance of discovering up to 2 powerful artifacts that provide your party with a significant Boon, in addition to helping players find various resources like gold, ore, herbs, fish, leathers, and treasures.
- Time Lost Relic: Brann’s abilities can trigger bursts of energy that warp time for nearby units, slowing down casting, movement, periodic effects, cooldowns, and attack speeds by 30% for 20 seconds.
- Amorphous Relic: Upon entering combat, players are randomly assigned either the “Massive” or “Miniature” effect, which alters their size and grants corresponding stat boosts for the duration of the combat. “Massive” increases size, health, and damage/healing, while “Miniature” decreases size but boosts movement speed and haste.
- Streamlined Relic: The party moves 60% faster outside of combat and gains a 60% haste boost for 20 seconds when entering combat.
- Lifeless Necrotic Relic: The idol uses unholy energy to prevent fatal damage by healing players to full health and turning them into Undead, making them unhealable, causing them to lose 5% of their health per second, but increasing their damage and healing by 12%.
- Relic of Sentience: When a Steel Trap is triggered, Brann has a chance to deploy an extra trap.
Brann Bronzebeard Delves roles
Brann Bronzebeard can switch between DPS and Healer roles in Delves, which you can adjust by interacting with the Explorers’ League Supplies at the beginning or during the Delve at the respawn point. This Supplies box also lets you repair gear and sell unwanted items.
Brann Bronzebeard Delves abilities
Based on his role, Brann Bronzebeard has a specific kit of Delve abilities, including those he gains as he progresses through different Companion Levels:
Universal abilities
- Gathering Tools: Brann helps you collect extra resources like gold, ore, herbs, fish, leather, and treasures using his gathering tools.

- Monkey Leash: Casting spells and using abilities can summon Brann’s pet monkey, Glibb, for 15 seconds. During this time, Glibb enhances the player’s Speed, Avoidance, and Leech stats by 845. Additionally, Glibb can throw a tantrum, dealing significant physical damage to nearby opponents and potentially stunning them for 3 seconds.

- Trusty Whip: Brann uses his whip to disrupt the enemy’s spellcasting, temporarily preventing them from casting spells from that particular school for 3 seconds.

- Kill Shot: Brann executes enemies below 25% health, with a lower health threshold for boss creatures.
- Ancient Weapon Oil: Brann temporarily makes a nearby player’s weapon more powerful by adding extra Fire damage to their spells and melee attacks for 15 seconds.
- Explorer’s Ammunition Journal: Brann’s fighting skills enhance his spell and ability damage by 5%.
Healer abilities
- Dwarven Medicine: Brann heals injured players by throwing potions that restore moderate health when players walk through them.
- Relic of Uldum: Brann uses a powerful ancient relic that emits Holy energy for 20 seconds, healing nearby allies depending on their proximity to the relic.

- Antidote Salve: Brann purifies an infected player by eliminating all Poison and Disease effects.
- Emergency Supplies: Brann automatically heals any player who drops below 30% health by restoring 25% of their maximum health, but this can only happen once every 3 minutes.
