Welcome to our complete WoW The War Within Delves guide. Here, you’ll learn all about this new endgame feature, including its rewards, tiers, NPC companion, and more!

Table of Contents
What are Delves in The War Within?
Delves offer a unique endgame experience, combining open-world and instanced content into quick, replayable challenges that take 10-15 minutes each. You can tackle them solo or with up to five players, using any class or role combination.
Unlike Mythic+ or Torghast, Delves have no timers, allowing you to explore at your own pace. They also feature a unique gear progression system, contributing to the Great Vault and unlocking harder difficulties and better rewards, such as resources, treasures, and consumables as you advance. Many players prefer this option, with a large number focusing on filling their Great Vault and farming gear in Delves.
Khaz Algar has 13 Delves, each with a rotating storyline every week. The difficulty increases with each tier, with the highest levels, like Tier 11, posing severe challenges for even the bravest Delvers.
Delve Tiers

If your character is new to Delves in The War Within, you’ll start at Tier 1. Until you reach level 80, only three Tiers will be available. Once you hit the maximum level, equip gear with a minimum level of 548 in all slots, and finish the main campaign, you’ll unlock the War Within Delves: Endgame achievement, giving you access to Tier 4. Completing Tier 4 unlocks Tier 5, and you can continue progressing to Tier 11.
If you’re in a party, you can only access the highest Delve completed by one of the members. For example, if two players have completed Tier 8 and the third player has only done Tier 6, the whole group will be limited to Tier 6. Also, completing a tier in any Delve unlocks that tier for you and your Warband.
Recommended item level for Delves
Just like in other PvE activities like raids and dungeons, you’ll need to meet the recommended item level to enter Delves and tackle its challenges confidently. After Tier 8, the item level stops increasing, meaning you’ll earn max-level rewards. These higher Delve tiers are meant for players looking to complete specific achievements or those willing to test their mettle. Here are the recommended item levels for Delves in The War Within:
Tier number | Recommended item level |
---|---|
Tier 1 | 515+ |
Tier 2 | 532+ |
Tier 3 | 545+ |
Tier 4 | 548+ |
Tier 5 | 567+ |
Tier 6 | 574+ |
Tier 7 | 587+ |
Tier 8 | 600+ |
Tier 9 | 600+ |
Tier 10 | 600+ |
Tier 11 | 600+ |
Delves item level loot table
The Delve Tier you select determines the item level of gear you get from both the Delve and the Great Vault. The table below lists item levels for Bountiful Delves. Without using a Restored Coffer Key, loot is capped at Tier 3, with a maximum item level of 554.
Delve Tier level | Bountiful Delve rewards | Great Vault |
---|---|---|
Tier 1 | 561 | 584 |
Tier 2 | 564 | 584 |
Tier 3 | 571 | 587 |
Tier 4 | 577 | 597 |
Tier 5 | 584 | 603 |
Tier 6 | 590 | 606 |
Tier 7 | 597 | 610 |
Tier 8 | 603 | 616 |
Tier 9 | 603 | 616 |
Tier 10 | 603 | 616 |
Tier 11 | 603 | 616 |
The Great Vault
In The War Within, you can unlock World Slots in the Great Vault by completing 2, 4, or 8 activities instead of PvP ones. The item level of World gear from the Great Vault scales with the difficulty, similar to the other rows, and can go up to Heroic raid gear or Mythic 7+ dungeon gear based on the Delve difficulty. Aside from that, you can also get tier sets from the Great Vault.
Delve locations in Khaz Algar
Khaz Algar has 13 Delves scattered across its land, each featuring 2 to 4 Delves designed uniquely for The War Within Season 1. Each Delve is marked on the map with a special cave icon, making them easy to find while traveling. When you get close to an icon, keep an eye out for cave entrances, ruins, or other signs in the vicinity:
- Isle of Dorn:
- Earthcrawl Mines: [38.7, 73.6]
- Kriegval’s Rest: [62, 42]
- Fungal Folly: [52.3, 66.0]
- Hallowfall:
- Skittering Breach: [66.6, 61.7]
- Nightfall Sanctum: [35.1, 46.2]
- The Sinkhole: [50.6, 50.7]
- Mycomancer Cavern: [71.2, 31.1]
- The Ringing Deeps:
- The Waterworks: [46.2, 48.0]
- The Dread Pit: [73.6, 38.4]
- Azj-Kahet:
- The Spiral Weave: [45.5, 21.6]
- Tak-Rethan Abyss: [54.8, 72.6]
- The Underkeep: [57.3, 64.9]
- Zekvir’s Lair: [9.8, 33.8]
Delve Revive counter

In Tiers 1-3, you can die as many times as you “want.” However, starting at Tier 4, each Delve gives you five lives per run, and if you use them all, you fail the Delve. The fewer times you die, the better the loot, so it’s crucial to stay alive and play carefully. Resurrection spells don’t increase the death count, but reviving with a Soulstone does.
If you run out of revives in a Tier+ Bountiful Delve, you won’t get a Bountiful Chest at the end. In that case, it’s better to exit and start over. Also note that most Delves have a respawn point about halfway through, where you’ll get one extra life.
Delve Boons
Delve Boons in The War Within are bonuses you earn during specific encounters, such as battling rare elites like the Stolen Loader, interacting with objects like the Construct Canker, or opening chests. These bonuses last until you leave the Delve, but you don’t get to choose which Boon you receive. Here are some of the Delve Boons you can get:
- Reno’s Random Reactions: The ability gives a chance for an attack to randomly throw an item from Reno’s backpack, which can either root, stun, or damage one enemy or multiple ones.
- Lucky Cursed Potion: It temporarily doubles your maximum health, but the effect ends when your health falls below 66%.
- Perfect Shield: When your health falls below 25%, you become immune to all damage, harmful effects, knockbacks, and forced movement for 10 seconds.
- Loader Signal: The Magnetic Loader occasionally assists you in combat by pulling enemies toward it for 5 seconds before exploding, dealing 178,279 Fire damage. This effect can occur once every 120 seconds.
- Construct Canker: It boosts your damage by 15% and increases your size by 20% until your health drops below 50%.
Another key point is that Brann Bronzebeard, your Delve companion in The War Within Season 1, might discover an Ancient Artifact while gathering tools. This gives you a Boon, which offers a small bonus to either a primary stat like Ancient Power, or a secondary one, such as Ancient Swiftness, Ancient Savagery, or Ancient Hunger.
Bountiful Delves

At level 80, you can unlock Bountiful Delves by completing the “Bountiful Delves” quest from the Delver’s Journal in Dornogal. These Delves reward you with a Bountiful Coffer containing powerful gear, a Radiant Echo, extra currencies, and a chance for a new or upgraded Curio for your Delve Companion.
Also note that the Bountiful Delve rotation changes daily, so you’ll need to check your map and look for a glowing golden door to find it. Hover over the Delve icon to see all the details, including how long it will remain active.
To open these Bountiful Coffers, you’ll need Restored Coffer Keys, which also become available at level 80. You can obtain them in several ways:
1) From the first four weekly world-event caches:
- Awakened Mechanical Cache
- Lamplighter Supply Satchel
- Pinnacle Cache
- Radiant Cache
- Seasoned Adventurer’s Cache
- Theater Troupe’s Trove
- The General’s War Chest
- The Vizier’s Capital
- The Weaver’s Gratuity
2) Combine 100x Coffer Key Shards found in world quests, Radiant Echoes, and outdoor events in Khaz Algar.
3) Reach certain Renown levels with these factions to get keys from their Quartermasters:
- Council of Dornogal: Renown 17
- Assembly of the Deeps: Renown 13
- Hallowfall Arathi: Renown 14
- Severed Threads: Renown 13
4) Purchase from Sir Finley Mrrgglton for 2,000x Undercoins, with the price reduced by 50% as you progress in the Delve track.
Delver’s Bounty maps
As you explore Delves, you can loot a Delver’s Bounty map from the chests at the end of a Delve. These maps are more likely to drop from a Bountiful Heavy Trunk earned in Bountiful Delves.
Each Delver’s Bounty map guarantees an extra Hidden Trove at the end of the Delve, with rewards matching the item level of Bountiful Coffer items. These maps range from Tier 1 to Tier 8, and the reward tier depends on the Delve tier where the map was earned.
For example, If you complete a Tier 3 Delve and receive a Delver’s Bounty, using the map will guarantee a Hidden Trove with Tier 3 rewards in your next Tier 3 (or higher) Delve. The maps scale to Tier 8, offering up to 610 item-level gear.
One-time reputation bonus
Using a Restored Coffer Key in Bountiful Delves gives you a chance to earn a one-time bonus of 1.1k reputation for each faction. However, this bonus isn’t guaranteed.
Here’s how it likely works: after completing a Bountiful Delve, you use the key and roll a 4-sided die (d4). If it lands on a faction you haven’t earned reputation from yet, you get 1.1k reputation. If it lands on a faction you already have, you get nothing.
The first key guarantees reputation, but the odds decrease with each use: 75% on the second, 50% on the third, and 25% on the last faction. If you’re lucky, you could complete it in as few as 4 runs with 4 keys, but it might take over 10 runs if you’re less fortunate. You can check which factions you’ve already received reputation from by using this script:
/run for k, v in pairs({ Assembly = 83318,Council = 83317,Threads = 83319,Hallowfall = 83320}) do print(format("%s: %s", k, C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(v) and "\124cff00ff00Yes\124r" or "\124cffff0000No\124r")) end
Delver’s Journey
The Delver’s Journey is a progress bar that fills up as you earn Delver’s Journey Tokens. As you advance, you unlock rewards at various stages, with a final capstone reward for completing the journey. You can earn tokens by opening different chests at the end of Delves:
- Bountiful Heavy Trunk: Found at the end of Bountiful Delves.
- Bountiful Coffer: A special chest in Bountiful Delves that requires a Restored Coffer Key to open.
- Hidden Trove: Unlocked by using a Delver’s Bounty at the end of a Delve.
Starting at Tier 4 in Delves, the Zekvir’s Influence affix becomes active, summoning Zekvir to empower enemies. Defeating these foes rewards you with extra Undercoin and progress toward Delver’s Journey in the final chest.

As you progress to higher Delve tiers, more enemies will come under Zekvir’s Influence, bringing even better rewards. These can include Delver’s Dirigible schematics, a toy, Resonance Crystals, and Restored Coffer Keys.
You can also buy the schematics and toy from Reno Jackson for 10x Delver’s Journey Tokens each. Sir Finley Mrrgglton sells Restored Coffer Keys for 2,000x Tokens and Warbound equipment ranging from 500x to 5,000x Tokens. Both vendors are at Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal.
Delve Companion: Brann Bronzebeard

In Season 1 of The War Within, Brann Bronzebeard becomes your helpful Delve companion. He joins any group of 1 to 4 players, alerting you to hidden treasures and warning of nearby dangers. Brann is also handy for gathering valuable materials like skins, ores, herbs, and fish without needing any specific profession skills.
On top of that, Brann can use unique trinkets called Curios, found in chests after completing Delves. He earns Warband-shared experience by defeating enemies, looting chests, and sometimes picking up experience-boosting items. As he levels up, Brann unlocks new skills and gains access to more powerful Curios.
Delve Companion roles

Brann Bronzebeard can switch between DPS and Healer roles in Delves. You can change his role by interacting with the Explorers’ League Supplies at the start or at the respawn point during the Delve. These Supplies also let you repair gear and sell unwanted items.
Delve Companion abilities
Brann Bronzebeard has a unique set of Delve abilities tied to his role, which he unlocks as he advances through various Companion levels.
Universal abilities
- Gathering Tools: Brann helps you collect extra resources like gold, ore, herbs, fish, leather, and treasures using his gathering tools.
- Brann’s Epic Egg: Once a player causes an enemy to lose control, Brann summons an egg that hatches into a devilsaur if disturbed. The devilsaur then attacks nearby enemies, making them cower in fear for 2 seconds every 10 seconds.
- Monkey Leash: Casting spells and using abilities can summon Brann’s pet monkey, Glibb, for 15 seconds. During this time, Glibb enhances the player’s Speed, Avoidance, and Leech stats by 845. Additionally, Glibb can throw a tantrum, dealing significant physical damage to nearby opponents and potentially stunning them for 3 seconds.
DPS abilities
- Steel Traps: Brann places steel traps that close on the first enemy that gets close, causing immediate physical damage and inflicting bleed damage over time.
- Gryphadin’s Battle Harness: Brann’s gryphon companion attacks nearby foes once you employ a major cooldown ability, dealing powerful damage per second for 10 seconds. This effect can only happen once every minute.
- Trusty Whip: Brann uses his whip to disrupt the enemy’s spellcasting, temporarily preventing them from casting spells from that particular school for 3 seconds.
- Ice Trap: When three or more enemies attack you, Brann automatically triggers an ice trap that slows their movement speed by 50% and has a chance to freeze them in place for 3 seconds. The trap remains active for 15 seconds.
- Kill Shot: Brann executes enemies below 25% health, with a lower health threshold for boss creatures.
- Ancient Weapon Oil: Brann temporarily makes a nearby player’s weapon more potent by adding extra Fire damage to their spells and melee attacks for 15 seconds.
- Explorer’s Ammunition Journal: Brann’s fighting skills enhance his spell and ability damage by 5%.
Healer abilities
- Dwarven Medicine: Brann heals injured players by throwing potions that restore moderate health when players walk through them.
- Relic of Uldum: Brann uses a powerful ancient relic that emits Holy energy for 20 seconds, healing nearby allies depending on their proximity to the relic.
- Thirty Yards of Rope: Brann uses his rope to help players get free from stuns and bonds. He also gives them a 4-second immunity to these effects.
- Antidote Salve: Brann purifies an infected player by eliminating all Poison and Disease effects.
- Emergency Supplies: Brann automatically heals any player who drops below 30% health by restoring 25% of their maximum health, but this can only happen once every 3 minutes.
- Aegis of Ironforge: When a player is damaged, Brann can make a shield that reduces damage by 20% and prevents loss of control effects for 12 seconds while the player stays inside the shield.
- Explorer’s Medical Journal: Brann’s combat mastery enhances his healing abilities, increasing the healing done by his spells and abilities by 5%.
Combat and Utility Curios
Brann offers two types of Delve Curios: Combat and Utility, but you can only use one at a time. You’ll need to visit the Explorers’ League Supplies to switch between them. Curios are found in treasure chests inside Treasure Rooms after you complete a Delve, and you can upgrade them by finding higher-level versions as you progress through the tiers. Here’s a list of all the Brann Bronzebeard Delve Curios available in Season 1:
Combat Curios
- Idol of Final Will: Brann targets a player to guide his shot for 4 seconds, then fires a powerful attack that deals significant physical damage to the first two enemies it hits.
- Porcelain Arrowhead Idol: Brann’s spells and abilities can make enemies weaker, which boosts the chance of landing a critical strike on them by 80% for 5 seconds.
- Unbreakable Iron Idol: It activates when your health drops below 40% during combat, dealing medium physical damage toward nearby enemies and taunting them for 10 seconds. This effect can only happen once every 2 minutes.
- Idol of the Earthmother: Brann’s spells and abilities can activate an idol that shields an injured player, restoring 70% of their missing health.
- Rage-Filled Idol: Brann enters a combat rage that increases his damage output by 5% every 2.5 seconds for 10 seconds, but he also takes 3% of his maximum health as damage per second during this effect.
- Light-Touched Idol: It automatically heals you for 4% of your maximum health every second for 10 seconds whenever you use a defensive ability with a cooldown of 30 seconds or longer.
- Brute Force Idol: When Brann calls for it, jumping on him makes him throw players into their enemies, knocking them back and dealing heavy Physical damage, which is shared among them.
Utility Curios
- Relicblood of Zekvir: During combat, a bloodbeast will occasionally attach itself to Brann, launching pieces of itself towards players. If players walk through these pieces, they receive the Bloodstained Blessing, which boosts their damage and healing by 10% but also reduces their maximum health by 10% for 1 minute.
- Olden Seeker Relic: When Brann is Gathering Tools, there’s a 50% chance of discovering up to 2 powerful artifacts that provide your party with a significant Boon, in addition to helping players find various resources like gold, ore, herbs, fish, leathers, and treasures.
- Time Lost Relic: Brann’s abilities can trigger bursts of energy that warp time for nearby units, slowing down casting, movement, periodic effects, cooldowns, and attack speeds by 30% for 20 seconds.
- Amorphous Relic: Upon entering combat, players are randomly assigned either the “Massive” or “Miniature” effect, which alters their size and grants corresponding stat boosts for the duration of the combat. “Massive” increases size, health, and damage/healing, while “Miniature” decreases size but boosts movement speed and haste.
- Streamlined Relic: The party moves 60% faster outside combat and gains a 60% haste boost for 20 seconds when entering combat.
- Lifeless Necrotic Relic: The idol uses unholy energy to prevent fatal damage by healing players to full health and turning them into Undead, making them unhealable, causing them to lose 5% of their health per second, but increasing their damage and healing by 12%.
- Relic of Sentience: When a Steel Trap is triggered, Brann has a chance to deploy an extra trap.
Daily bonus Companion Experience

The first Delve you complete each day gives bonus Companion XP for Brann Bronzebeard; when starting a Delve, check for a Companion XP symbol instead of the usual green one to see if you can still earn the daily bonus.
Delver’s Headquarters

Delver’s Headquarters is in Dornogal at [48, 44]. You can track your progress in the Delver’s Guide, earn rewards, buy transmogs using Resonance Crystals, and customize your seasonal Delve companion.

The Delver’s Guide helps you view your companion’s details and monitor your Great Vault and Delve progress. Completing The War Within Delves grants rewards like transmogs, upgrades for your Delver’s Dirigible, Resonance Crystals, and discounts from the vendors Reno Jackson and Sir Finley Mrgglton.

Once that’s done, you’ll unlock the next quest, “Ship It,” from Brann. Completing it rewards you with the Delver’s Dirigible mount and 10x Valorstones.
You can customize the Delver’s Dirigible at the Rostrum of Transformation at [47, 68] in Dornogal. For more customization options, you can purchase them from the Reno Jackson and Sir Finley Mrgglton vendors.
Zekvir’s Lair Delve

Each season of The War Within will feature its own Delve challenge. For Season 1, it’s Zekvir’s Lair. Although it’s easier than raids and Mythic+ dungeons, it’s similar to the Mage Tower: you’ll need to complete it solo to earn all the exclusive seasonal rewards.
To unlock Zekvir’s Lair, complete a Tier 8 Delve with some revives remaining. If you’re not ready for Tier 11 content, it’s best to take on this challenge with other players, as Zekvir is a tough boss with over 80 million health, and his attacks can one-shot you if you’re under-geared.
