Gathering professions
Whether you choose Herbalism, Mining, or Skinning, any gathering profession is very profitable. Selling gathered resources already can already get you a good amount of gold.
Regarding Mining and Herbalism, quantity, not quality, is essential. Getting a highly priced item may feel like a jackpot, but gathering resources in large quantities brings a lot of stable income. Various metals like Bismuth, Ironclaw Ore, etc., and herbs like Orbinid, Mycobloom, etc., sold almost instantly. So gather all the resources that Khaz Algar has to offer and sell them in bulk.
The Ringing Deeps is one of the best zones to gather resources, but competition is high. If other players swipe resources right under your nose, we advise moving to Hallowfall or K’aresh.

Crafting professions
Crafting professions may take longer to truly upgrade your solo gold farm in TWW, but they provide you with more opportunities, such as consumables crafting and crafting orders completion. Here are the best crafting professions for solo gold farming:
- Alchemy – potions and elixirs that are always popular among raiders and M+ runners.
- Enchantment – enchantments are always needed on the market and can provide you with respectful income. Here are the most popular ones:
- Jewelcrafting – gems, accessories, and toys can be sold for a very good price throughout the game.
These professions can be very profitable and help players farm gold in The War Within. Let’s dive into the best ways to solo farm gold via professions.
Consumables, gems, and enhancements
Farming gold in TWW from selling consumables, gems, and enhancements at Auction House is one of the most popular ways to gain currency. This part is mainly related to Alchemy, as potions, elixirs, and oils are always needed in raids, M+ runs, and even PvP battles. Such side professions as Cooking is also a good way to solo farm gold. Selling prepared meals is needed by the same content conquerors, meaning you will always find customers to buy your consumables. Here is a list of the best consumables, gems, and enhancements for selling:

Crafting orders
Since the Dragonflight expansion release, Crafting Orders have become a thing. If you have a highly leveled profession and materials, completing such orders can provide you with a good income. By consistently working as a crafter, you may earn a good reputation that can bring you regular customers. This means an accordant gold farm without much effort.
Tailoring
Tailoring in The War Within deserves separate mention. The reason for that is the change made in the expansion. Now, only characters with Tailoring can loot cloth from humanoid enemies.
It doesn’t apply to cloth from expansions before the War Within. Still, if you want access to Tailoring-exclusive resources now, you’d better invest in that Profession.
To maximize your income from cloth:
- Put 30 points into Textile Treasures.
- Put 30 points into Quality Fabrics.
- Put 30 points into From Dusk Until Dawn, and unlock Dawnweave and Duskweave Tailoring specializations.
It does require some effort to get enough points. Still, you can completely ignore crafting Tailoring items and just farm cloth afterward. If you plan to farm BoE items, it is generally advised to have Tailoring to boost your profits.
There are several places to effectively farm cloth in The War Within. You should aim for areas with humanoid enemies that quickly respawn, or clear dungeons full of them.

You can also pick Inscription to get even more out of your BoE and cloth farm. By putting some points into specializations, you can make it so enemies will also drop Darkmoon cards. These are sold for various amounts depending on the server you are on, so check the prices before committing.

- Unlock Archival Additions specialization.
- Unlock Cryptic Collection.
- Invest 15 points into Darkmoon Sigil specialization of your choice.

Odd Glob of Wax is an item that can be gathered all over Khaz Algar locations. After reaching Rank 2 Renown with The Assembly of the Deeps, you will be able to farm Odd Globs of Wax by activating Disturbed Earth in all Khaz Algar areas. These Odd Globs of Wax can be exchanged to Firelight Ruby by Middles at /way The Ringing Deeps 47.6 35.2. Firelight Ruby can be used to purchase items from Gnawbles at /way The Ringing Deeps 47.6 35.2. - Waxy Bundle of Resonance Crystals – contains random gems and Resonance Crystals.
- Waxy Bundle of Leather – contains random leather.

Another steady income source works exceptionally well if you have several alts. The same NPC that gives you the Nightfall weekly quest, Mylton Wyldbraun in Hallowfall, has a set of 4 daily quests. These simple quests require you to do some activities in Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet.
Here are Mylton’s coordinates for your convenience:
/way 28.2 56.2 You are awarded a Confiscated Cultist’s Bag for completing these quests. These bags have some random BoE gear inside. What makes these items profitable is that they have unique models. This makes the current the only source of corresponding transmog.
The price of these items changes from server to server. So before fully committing to this activity, check the results on a single character.
TWW Gold farm: BoE and cloth farm
BoE items are a reliable source of gold for many players. Such gear can be sold at the Auction House for a good amount of gold. It has a good ilvl in TWW Season 3 and does not bind to your character, unlike other respectful gear. This is why it is rare and costs a good sum. BoE items can drop from almost any enemies in the The War Within expansion locations. Many mobs also provide players with different cloth.
You can find other good locations where many mobs spawn with a fine cooldown and prepare a route. Killing mob groups one by one while following a correct route will let you unstoppably repeat the circle and farm the most efficient way. While farming mobs, you will also stably gain gold, resources (mainly cloth), and gear for selling, making this method one of the best for gold farming. Sadly, this method of gold farming is not as effective for individuals as it is for groups. However, you can still easily find BoE farming groups in Group Finder for better results. Unfortunately, this method suits some classes better than others. Here are examples of the best classes for this type of solo gold farming:
- Balance Druid
- Frost/Fire Mage
- Beast Mastery/Marksman Hunter
All three of these classes perform very well in this farming activity due to range and good AoE and cleave. They can kite packs of enemies and almost never stop to heal up.
TWW Gold farm: Dungeons farming
If you don’t have luck farming items to sell in the open world, or it is not as efficient as you like, another option would be farming The War Within dungeons. There are many enemies there that drop resources and rare items, making it a stable and lucrative source of income. That is, if you adequately prepared for it.
First, you must decide how to farm TWW dungeons: Solo or using the Follower Dungeon.
- Solo farm. Requires you to be a Tank. You have increased chances to get BoE items, but it is also harder to do, as you only have yourself to rely upon.
- Follower Dungeon. It provides you with the NPC team to help you out. You can play any role, but it is still recommended that you play a Tank to speed things up. The downside is that the amount of possible BoE is significantly reduced.
Choose one that fits you the most of the two methods above. As many report, the amount of BoE was nerfed significantly even in Solo runs. So you should think for yourself whether it is worth trying to do such runs.
The primary source of income in these runs comes from Tailoring and Inscription. As we mentioned, you need to get these Professions to get cloth and some Darkmoon cards in your loot. Cloth is especially valuable, as developers nerf many spots to farm it, while the demand for this resource remains stable.
After you decide how to farm, you need to decide what to farm. Currently, two dungeons are perfect for cloth farming: Priory of the Sacred Flame and Darkflame Cleft.
Priory of the Sacred Flame
Farm in this dungeon usually involves either a short or a long run. Short run means killing all the enemies before the first boss and then resetting the dungeon. The long run includes all that is usually done in the short run, but you also defeat the first boss and some enemies inside the cathedral.
The existence of two runs is purely for lockout purposes. As you probably know, resetting a dungeon 10 times an hour locks you out. Players tend to do slightly longer runs to avoid this and to ensure the lockout doesn’t happen. Around 4 long and 6 short runs are optimal to avoid lockout. Or, if you have characters able to run the dungeon on different realms, you can completely ignore the lockout by doing short runs and changing between characters.
Darkflame Cleft
Running this dungeon is easier, but also brings slightly less gold than Priory. In Darkflame Cleft, you want to clear the first room and the tunnel leading to the first boss. After this, you can leave and do another run. It takes enough time to complete such a run, so you shouldn’t be worried about the lockout.
TWW Gold farm: Collectibles selling
Selling collectibles for gold is a part of the whole solo gold farming process. Gear, mounts, pets, and toys can be interesting and desirable for other players in their collections. For example, some items, even from old expansions, are still popular among players for transmog.
Using the TradeSkillMaster addon, you will get information on whether some items are sold fast and reasonably priced. This knowledge is highly needed as transmog selling can be tricky. Some items are almost legendary and can be sold for millions of gold because of their very low drop rate (e.g. Blade of Hanna and Teebu’s Blazing Longsword). But some can stay unsold at auction for months. Role-playing (RP) servers are the best in terms of the items demanded for transmog. This is why concentrating on this way of solo gold farming may take much more time and depends on your luck.
Some dungeons from older expansions are better for solo gold-farm runs in The War Within. Due to these dungeons being from previous expansions, killing mobs and bosses there is not a big deal, letting any class complete solo runs repeatedly. Correct dungeon spamming will provide you with gold, transmog, resources, and pets and will make you rich.

Keep in mind that farming transmog and collectibles to sell doesnt guarantee quick sell. Item may cost millions of gold, but it doesnt mean the moment it drops it wil immedeatly sell.
TWW Gold farm: Auction House flipping
“Auction House manipulations” may sound illegal, but they are completely harmless and are used by many players. Even though this topic is very extensive and can be complicated, we will try to explain the basics of Auction House gold farming manipulations. Simply buying out the cheapest items and reselling them at a higher price is one of the most stable and simple ways to farm gold in The War Within. This activity is called Auction House flipping and is relatively straightforward.
