How to get Alunira mount in The War Within
In The War Within, Blizzard introduces the new Alunira mount, a Skyriding griffon, the method of getting which is similar to Alani from Mists of Pandaria. Due to its rarity, players can expect significant competition to obtain it.
Since Alunira is a griffon, it flies around the highest Dhar Oztan peak of the Isle of Dorn in the southwest of the zone at coordinates [23, 58]. This beast is protected from any attacks by the Protective Stormshroud, preventing it from being attacked or provoked. To dispel the Stormshroud and defeat Alunira, you must use the Storm Vessel, crafted from 10x Crackling Shards.
Where to farm Crackling Shards
If you are wondering where to farm these Shards, these drop from any mob on the Isle of Dorn, whether rares, rare elites, or normal mobs. However, we suggest you focus on a small island northeast of the Isle of Dorn. The strategy is straightforward:
- Begin in the central area, gather all the mobs, and defeat them.
- Move to the opposite area to pull a smaller but substantial group of mobs.
- After clearing this area, return to the main area where mobs start to respawn and repeat the process.
Additionally, you can venture to the Cindermead Brewery area to target the elite Cinderbee Foragers. These elite bees are challenging to solo, but the smaller Cinderbee Drones can often be pulled away from the main group, making them easier to handle alone. You can try another area located close to the Cinderbee Foragers. Once there, focus on grinding Faithful of Zirix Nerubian mobs to obtain the Shards. Furthermore, teaming up with other players can also be an efficient way to collect them.

It is important to note that these Shards have a very low drop rate from any creature on the Isle of Dorn, so do not despair if you have difficulty getting them on the first try. Elite mobs also have a low drop rate, according to player reports. Plus, it currently takes around 10 hours to farm all the Shards in The War Within.
Although these Shards are available as personal loot and cannot be bought at the Auction House, there is good news, too: they are Warbound, meaning you can share them with your characters.
How to get Alunira mount in The War Within
Once you have collected the Shards, craft the Storm Vessel and use it on the Alunira mount to make it vulnerable to attacks. This fight is relatively easy, as the griffon has no special abilities. However, its melee attacks can be damaging, so if you have low gear, it might be a challenging encounter.
In this case, we recommend upgrading your gear or bringing friends to assist you. Remember that the mount is currently awarded as personal loot exclusively to the player who uses the Storm Vessel, regardless of whether they are in a group or not.
