Echo loses another top WoW player to Team Liquid
Hopeful’s move, announced on Twitter, strengthens Liquid’s dominance in RWFs.

Former Echo standout Hopeful has officially announced via Twitter that he’s parting ways with Echo and joining Team Liquid’s roster for upcoming Race to World First (RWF) events.
While the decision ultimately reflects Hopeful’s personal career path, the move has reignited community conversations around the current state of the RWF scene and the growing competitive gap between top-tier guilds.
Hopeful is a competitive World of Warcraft raider recognized for his reliable mechanics and steady performance in high-pressure situations. He rose to prominence as a core DPS player for Echo, one of the top EU guilds, making a name for himself through consistent contributions during several Race to World First events.

RWF results
The last RWF in Liberation of Undermine once again showcased Team Liquid’s dominance. This team once again proved its efficiency by effortlessly surpassing both Team Echo and Method in the RWF, defeating not only the final raid boss, Prince Gallywix, ahead of them, but also several other tough bosses along the way, as you can see in our RWF coverage.
This isn’t a new situation. Team Liquid also won the last three RWF events in previous raids. They’re far ahead of the competition, and it’s no surprise. Liquid is a massive organization with esports teams in games like Apex Legends, CS, Dota 2, LoL, TFT, Valorant, and more. They have a long history, many victories, and a lot of experience—especially in management, player support, and creating the best possible conditions for success. It’s only natural that such a well-rounded team dominates the competitive scene in WoW too.
One more key reason—maybe the most important—is money. Liquid can invest much more in their players and even buy top talent from other guilds.

Why Hopeful left Echo for Liquid
Hopeful explained that his transfer was primarily motivated by geographical reasons. As a North American player competing with the EU-based guild Echo, he shared that he wanted to reunite with his NA friends and play closer to home.
Still, the community has speculated that other factors may have influenced the move—most notably, the significantly better salaries offered by Team Liquid. There are rumors circulating about low salaries within the Echo team, with some claiming that even during the Race to World First, the pay doesn’t meet the minimum wage standards in certain EU countries.
And with Liquid currently dominating the Race to World First, the switch appears to be a natural progression. There’s nothing wrong with Hopeful’s decision—he’s aiming to win and grow as a player. Considering all the circumstances, joining Team Liquid simply makes sense.

WoW Liquid domination problem
There’s nothing wrong with what Team Liquid is doing either. The organization is growing and aiming for victories—that’s exactly what people expect from them. And of course, to get stronger, they need to bring in top players from across the WoW scene. It’s not just about Hopeful—other players like Tobo and Wolfdisco also joined Liquid in the past, leaving team Echo behind.
The only real downside is for the RWF scene itself—and the viewer experience. If Liquid becomes so strong that they can buy every top player and win every RWF with ease, what’s left to be excited about? Other guilds won’t stand a chance. Liquid will defeat every boss first, and the rest will just follow their strategies.
To keep RWF exciting, there needs to be real competition. But that’s hard to maintain when a giant like Liquid dominates the scene.
Conclusion
We wish Hopeful the best of luck with his new team and hope he performs even better there. As for Team Liquid—there’s nothing much to wish them, everything is already going well. But we do hope that Method, Echo, and other guilds find the strength to hold on to their players and prepare to give Liquid a real challenge in the next RWF.
