- Charges are time-gated (starting from an intro quest and then generally every two weeks), with extra charges available through seasonal achievements like Mythic+, raid, or PvP goals.
- Only specific gear can be converted (non-crafted, non-tier, appropriate item track), and it mainly affects the 5 core tier slots while other armor slots are mostly cosmetic.

What is Catalyst in WoW

The Matrix Catalyst is a system that lets you turn regular armor pieces into tier set gear of the same type, making it much easier to complete your set bonuses. You can interact with the Catalyst to convert eligible gear using charges. These charges are earned over time and limit how often you can use the system.
Next to the Catalyst, you’ll meet Eldara Dawnrunner, who gives a short quest called Taste True Power. Completing it unlocks the Matrix Catalyst, allowing you to start upgrading your gear right away. You can locate Midnight Catalyst in Silvermoon (/way #2393 40.6 64.6 Matrix Catalyst).

The Matrix Catalyst lets you convert regular gear into tier set pieces using limited charges, you earn your first charge with the introductory quest. After that, you will earn each Catalyst charge every two weeks.

There are some rules for using The Catalyst, they are:
- Gear must be Veteran-track or higher.
- It shouldn’t be already a tier-set item.
- You, of course, need to have atleast 1 Catalyst charge.
- The armor piece mustn’t be crafted.
There are 5 tier pieces for Midnight Season 1 tier sets. They are
- Legs
- Hands
- Helm
- Shoulder
- Chest
However, you can also get these for cosmetic purposes:
- Bracers
- Belts
- Cloaks
- Boots
Midnight Season 2 Catalyst schedule
In WoW Midnight Season 2, the Catalyst currency is Venomblight Manaflux. One charge converts one eligible piece of Season 2 gear at the Matrix Catalyst. Assuming the normal Week-1 Catalyst grant happens as expected, the passive schedule should therefore be:

How to get more Catalyst charges in Midnight
You have two additional methods beyond simply waiting. First, complete Midnight Season 2: Serpent Scion. You only need one of these objectives:
- Reach 2,000 Mythic+ rating
- Reach 1,600 Rated PvP rating
- Defeat Ula’tek on Heroic or Mythic
Second, once that character obtains its 4-piece Season 2 class set, you earn Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound. From that point onward, additional Venomblight Manaflux can drop from:
- Mythic+ dungeons
- Midnight Season 2 raid bosses
- Bountiful Delves
- Rated PvP Arenas and Battlegrounds
- Catalysts themselves
These are additional drops, rather than the guaranteed biweekly charge.
