What is Destiny 2 Pantheon

Pantheon is a Raid Boss Gauntlet mode, where players must fight various Raid bosses that are present in the game. The main reason to play Pantheon is the intriguing rewards, such as Exotic weapons from Raids, which can be obtained through a quest, not a random drop.
The Pantheon have returned and we’ve yet to see it in action, starting from June 9.

New features coming to Pantheon 2.0

Pantheon 2.0 will be a different iteration of the legacy activity. Some of the changes are:

- Featured raids and dungeons return – Weekly featured activities will offer additional opportunities to earn high-tier rewards.
- Updated destination gear – Destination weapons and armor are being refreshed with modern perk pools, set bonuses, and Tier parity.
- Distortions – Certain destinations will feature Distortions, new modifiers that increase challenge and provide unique rewards alongside regular destination drops.
Note
Bungie has not yet shared any new details regarding a potential Pantheon 2.0. We will update this article as soon as more information becomes available. For now, the information below refers to the original Pantheon event that was available in 2024.
Pantheon Overview
Many may have wondered how Pantheon works because we are going to beat different encounters from other Raids. Let’s analyze how it will all work step by step.
Upon entering the arena, you’ll notice the appearance of points in the lower right corner. In Pantheon, you can achieve a high score completion if you finish the encounters with the required number of points. A Bonus Timer will be running during each encounter, and you can earn bonus points while the Timer is on by successfully performing Raid mechanics, destroying mobs, and collecting Orbs of Power. If you manage to finish the encounter before the Bonus Timer runs out, you will gain additional bonus points.
A reward awaits after successfully completing an encounter. Additionally, you receive an extra reward if you have a high score. In order to move on to the next boss fight, you have to use the Transmat banner.
Pantheon Mechanics
In this segment, we will talk about all the important mechanics in Pantheon Challenge, including modifications and encounter changes.
Let’s start with Pantheon modifiers, as they change your usual gameplay noticeably. So far, we know about two of them:
- Elemental Surge: 25% increased damage for an elemental weapon, which rotates weekly and changes elements (Solar and Strand this week)
- Class Warfare: Using Class abilities increases your fireteam’s damage output by 10% per stack (3x max) while also reducing incoming damage while active (Atraks Sovereign and Rhulk Indomitable modifier)
- Shot Caller: Landing hits with a Primary weapon enhances Special and Heavy weapons, reducing incoming damage while active (Oryx Exalted and Nezarec Sublimemodifier)
Now let’s talk about Pantheon Bosses, which have not undergone as drastic changes as might have seemed at the time of the Pantheon announcement. Don’t expect any mechanics reworks here, as some players would like. Let’s quickly go through each encounter:
- Golgoroth’s encounter now presents a more challenging scenario with two Unstable Light debuffs on two players. Additionally, be prepared for a significant increase in mob spawns before and during the damage phase.
- The Caretaker’s encounter has mobs with more HP than usual. Centurions now appear next to the boss, interfering with his stun. As a bonus, flying projectiles spawn in the room with symbols.
- Zo’aurc now spawns fire tornadoes on plates for the damage phase. Tormentors may appear in the arena after the correct placement of planets and Incendiors on the central platform.
- In the Atraks-1 encounter, you’ll again battle Tormentors and more mobs than usual. Also, Augment Enemies became Bosses as a bonus.
- In the Oryx encounter, you can expect Tormentors after the DPS phase and major Knights and Ogres. The Knights that steal bombs can appear more than once. Solar Knights appear on platforms and fall off them quite often. If there are bombs phase, then the phase won’t end until the team destroys all the mobs from the platforms. Additionally, Thunderdome contains two Oryx clones.
- Rhulk encounter has undergone big changes. Every two totems activated, Tormentors are summoned. During the DPS phase, Rhulk now has a Dread copy, which can only kick Guardians. You can’t destroy it, so just run away from two Rhulks and have fun!
- The Riven encounter is now a true test for players. The cheese that was previously used has been patched, so you can no longer rely on it in the same way. Additionally, Riven now has increased damage resistance during the first two floors, making it more challenging. Furthermore, there are now more Taken Centurians and Minotaurs spawning, adding to the difficulty of the encounter.
- Nezarec encounter is a little harder now because you cannot damage the boss on the plate (Pervading Darkness instantly takedowns Guardians). Now, Nezarec jumps much higher to where he originally spawned. The Node of Splendor and Ruin can now cast the Pervading Darkness debuff if they stand on these nodes.
So, now every Pantheon encounter is explained, and you know what to expect there. Only two weeks are left until it ends, so make sure to give it your best shot! We hope you will succeed!
All Pantheon Rewards
Destiny 2 Pantheon rewards a considerable amount, which may be the leading reason to participate in this mode.
Let’s start with the main thing, namely the Divine Weaponry quest, with which you can guarantee to receive one of the five Raid weapons. At this moment, it’s known that there will be two quests, so you will need to wisely choose the weapon to receive. Divine Weaponry can be obtained from Shaxx in the Hall of Champions and will require you to complete any or a particular difficulty with all encounters and meet Arcite 99-40 in the end to choose from the following weapons.
From Week 1, you can choose one of these rewards:
- Eyes of Tomorrow
- Touch of Malice
- 1 Exotic Cipher
- 3 Ascendant Shards
From Week 3, you’ll be able to receive these Exotic weapons from Rhulk and Nezarec challenges:
- Collective Obligation
- Conditional Finality
- One Thousand Voices
Are you thinking about what weapon is best to get? Then this Raid Exotics tier list will help you!
Next, you can receive exclusive Pantheon emblems for completing a particular difficulty. The emblems themselves can be seen below, and they feature the main bosses of these challenges:

Apart from such unique loot, you are going to encounter armor and weapons from Deep Stone Crypt, Vow of the Disciple, King’s Fall, and Root of Nightmares. Yes, you will be able to receive them even without access to the expansions, which is, of course, admirable. Also, these weapons can drop from any encounter with a high chance of dropping with Red Border.
Moreover, you will be able to get any Adept for beating the encounter on Bonus Timer or specific ones for completing specific triumphs, such as high score Pantheon completion. Keep in mind that if you already completed encounter with the Bonus Timer on your characters this week, you won’t receive Adepts on them again and you have to wait for the next one. It is possible to acquire the following weapons from triumphs:
- Smite of Merain, Pulse Rifle (Harrowed)
- Qullim’s Terminus, Machine Gun (Harrowed)
- Insidious, Pulse Rifle (Adept)
- Acasia’s Dejection, Trace Rifle (Adept)
- Zaouli’s Bane, Hand Cannon (Harrowed)
- Rufus’s Fury, Auto Rifle (Adept)
As a bonus, you receive Spoils of Conquest after completing the encounter and achieving some triumphs, as in other Raids. Also, Spoils of Conquest can be earned from the Weekly Challenge by obtaining 500,000 points from The Pantheon encounters.
Essentially, Pantheon is farmable, which is why it’s the best way to get Raid loot in Destiny 2 right now! In total, one Pantheon Boss completion guarantees you:
- Three items (weapons or armor)
- One Adept gun from Bonus Timer (per week)
- Spoils of Conquest
- Trophy of Bravery
So, don’t waste your time, go farm!
Pantheon Seal: All Godslayer Triumphs

Perhaps one of the reasons why you would want to participate in this activity is the Destiny 2 Godslayer title, which is offered for finishing all Pantheon triumphs. There are not many, but they’ll require quite a bit of effort and professional skills. Let’s take a look at what they entail:
- Extinction Averted: All Atraks Sovereign encounters are completed (Atraks Dethroned emblem + 30 Spoils as rewards)
- Checkmate: All Oryx Exalted encounters are completed (Exalted Beyond Oryx emblem + 30 Spoils as rewards)
- Cast Shadow: All Rhulk Indomitable encounters are completed (Rhulk Subdued emblem emblem + 30 Spoils as rewards)
- Deity Destroyed: All Nezarec Sublime encounters are completed (Elevated Above Nezarec emblem + 30 Spoils as rewards)
- Conquer the Crypt: Atraks Sovereign is finished with a Platinum score on all Encounters (Smite of Merain Harrowed as a reward)
- Unseat the King: Oryx Exalted is finished with a Platinum score on all Encounters (Qullim’s Terminus Harrowed as a reward)
- Double-Edged: Rhulk Indomitable is finished with a Platinum score on all Encounters (Insidious Adept as a reward)
- At the Zenith: Nezarec Sublime is finished with a Platinum score on all Encounters (Acasia’s Dejection Adept as a reward)
- Rising High: Get a total of 1,500,000 points from all Pantheon encounters (Zaouli’s Bane Harrowed as a reward)
- Mountain’s Peak: Get a total of 3,000,000 points from all Pantheon encounters (Rufus’s Fury Adept as a reward)

Comments
Why was Pantheon so buggy? Nez kept jumping off the map and running damage. may have completed it if it hadent been like this.
Please bungie add it back for an extended period of time! maybe with more encounters? D1 raids, maybe even mixed with other new encounters made as a singular thing?
Many would appreciate the chance to get the emblems they may have missed out on if they didn’t get to play or couldn’t as well as the seal and title.
How did bungie expect us to complete it? only a handful of players did. Nezerec was near impossible, especially for players with no teams. I used LFG and all I got was people that kept dying and didn’t know what they were doing. This mode was for the pros, why can’t it be for us, the casual player.
Good activity but considering the difficulty I think they should really keep it on for longer. My team got up to Riven, spent hours in this encounter until finally completing it. Only to die after wiping to Nezerec when he was at near 2% health. We never made it that far again.
I feel like stuff in the game, especially things like this shouldn’t be temporary or should at least be on for longer. People have lives ro live, they can’t be on all the time and when it’s this difficult, how does bungie expect casual players to complete it??
For rising high and mountain peak is it in one run you need that many points or just over the amount of times you run pantheon?
Hi, Sam!
You must earn 1,5 million and 3 million points by completing the Pantheon encounters. To be more precise, you don’t need to necessarily earn that many points in one run.
The triumphs are all incorrect in this article. They do not say “with a high score”. They say “with a platinum score on all encounters”
Hello Durandal!
I changed that! Thank you so much for pointing out this!
Going to be severely disappointed if Riven is cheesable.
I’m going to be severely happy. We are not the same.
Hahaha
Most likely wont be able to do cheese even if it is mechanically possible due to damage limitations from -20 power 😛
I’ve done legit Riven once, I will be servery happy if we can cheese.
