What is Destiny 2 Pantheon?

Pantheon is a Raid Boss Gauntlet mode, where players must fight various Raid bosses that are present in the game (except those from Garden of Salvation, Crota’s End, and Vault of Glass). The main reason to play Pantheon is the intriguing rewards, such as Exotic weapons from Raids, which can be obtained through a quest, not a random drop.

At the same time, the next challenge with new encounters and higher Pantheon difficulty will arise every week until May 21. In addition, the developers have made a few twists in the encounters that will require you to have a slightly different approach to completion. So you’ll have to not only remember how these encounters work but also relearn them to pass Pantheon encounters! 

Is Pantheon a Limited Time Activity? 

This activity will be available for a limited time, so you should note two important dates: April 30 and June 3. The first date is when the activity becomes available in the game, and the second is the day when Pantheon will be gone from it. Though it may return to the game, it may also be in some other form.

Many may have wondered how Pantheon works because we are going to beat different encounters from other Raids. Let’s analyze how it will all work step by step.

Upon entering the arena, you’ll notice the appearance of points in the lower right corner. In Pantheon, you can achieve a high score completion if you finish the encounters with the required number of points. A Bonus Timer will be running during each encounter, and you can earn bonus points while the Timer is on by successfully performing Raid mechanics, destroying mobs, and collecting Orbs of Power. If you manage to finish the encounter before the Bonus Timer runs out, you will gain additional bonus points.

A reward awaits after successfully completing an encounter. Additionally, you receive an extra reward if you have a high score. In order to move on to the next boss fight, you have to use the Transmat banner.

Pantheon Mechanics

In this segment, we will talk about all the important mechanics in Pantheon Challenge, including modifications and encounter changes.

Let’s start with Pantheon modifiers, as they change your usual gameplay noticeably. So far, we know about two of them: 

• Elemental Surge: 25% increased damage for an elemental weapon, which rotates weekly and changes elements (Void and Strand this week)
• Class Warfare: Using Class abilities increases your fireteam’s damage output by 10% per stack (3x max) while also reducing incoming damage while active (Week 1 modifier)
• Shot Caller: Landing hits with a Primary weapon enhances Special and Heavy weapons, reducing incoming damage while active (Week ? modifier)

Now let’s talk about Pantheon Bosses, which have not undergone as drastic changes as might have seemed at the time of the Pantheon announcement. Don’t expect any mechanics reworks here, as some players would like. Let’s quickly go through each encounter: 

• Golgoroth’s encounter now presents a more challenging scenario with two Unstable Light debuffs on two players. Additionally, be prepared for a significant increase in mob spawns before and during the damage phase.
• The Caretaker’s encounter has mobs with more HP than usual. Centurions now appear next to the boss, interfering with his stun. As a bonus, flying projectiles spawn in the room with symbols. 
• Zo’aurc now spawns fire tornadoes on plates for the damage phase. Tormentors may appear in the arena after the correct placement of planets and Incendiors on the central platform. 
• In the Atraks-1 encounter, you’ll again battle Tormentors and more mobs than usual. Also, Augment Enemies became Bosses as a bonus.

So that’s why Riven’s encounter will most likely just differ by -20 Power and additional mobs. Once again, don’t expect entirely remade boss battles.

All Pantheon Rewards

Destiny 2 Pantheon rewards a considerable amount, which may be the leading reason to participate in this mode.

Let’s start with the main thing, namely the Divine Weaponry quest, with which you can guarantee to receive one of the five Raid weapons. • Smite of Merain, Pulse Rifle (Harrowed)
• Qullim’s Terminus, Machine Gun  (Harrowed)
• Insidious, Pulse Rifle (Adept)
• Acasia’s Dejection, Trace Rifle (Adept)
• Zaouli’s Bane, Hand Cannon (Harrowed)
• Rufus’s Fury, Auto Rifle (Adept)

As a bonus, you receive Spoils of Conquest after completing the encounter and achieving some triumphs, as in other Raids. Also, Spoils of Conquest can be earned from the Weekly Challenge by obtaining 500,000 points from The Pantheon encounters.

• One Adept gun from Bonus Timer (per week)

• Conquer the Crypt: Atraks Sovereign is finished with a high score (Smite of Merain Harrowed as a reward)
• Unseat the King: Oryx Exalted is finished with a high score (Qullim’s Terminus Harrowed as a reward)
• Double-Edged: Rhulk Indomitable is finished with a high score (Insidious Adept as a reward)
• At the Zenith: Nezarec Sublime is finished with a high score (Acasia’s Dejection Adept as a reward)
• Rising High: Get a total of 1,500,000 points from all Pantheon encounters (Zaouli’s Bane Harrowed as a reward)
