Did you miss the new TWID and want to get a brief recap? Well, you’ve come to the right place!
Table of Contents
On July 25, Bungie released another TWID, in which they discussed the upcoming changes to Destiny 2’s PvP modes, as well as other important fixes related to loot and other aspects of the game. Let’s take a look at all these changes right away.
PvP Changes
Reward Buffs
Loot has always played a crucial role in Destiny 2, serving as an excellent motivation for players to engage in various activities. Bungie understands this, so now, across the entire Crucible, players will receive more Glimmer, Cores, and Crucible Engrams at the end of each match. Additionally, developers have specifically addressed Iron Banner, where victories now will guarantee a drop of a random Iron Banner weapon and have a high chance of dropping an Iron Banner Engram. Even those who lose won’t be left out, as completing games will also have an enhanced weapon and engram drop rate.
Iron Banner
Many players have expressed strong negative feedback about the new Tribute Mode, and it will not return until it undergoes significant rework. Due to this, players can expect a rotation between the following Iron Banner modes: Control, Fortress, and Eruption. Matchmaking has also been changed, and more detailed statistics and changes can be found in the original article.
Competitive
The PvP Strike Team acknowledges that Competitive is still far from ideal and needs changes. For example, in Update 8.0.5, the score to win in Clash will be reduced from 40 to 35, speeding up matches in this mode. Only the spawns in Collision will be changed, making you spawn more frequently near teammates.
In the near future, developers aim to enhance the Ranking system, where player performance in matches will be the most important factor. To make matches fairer, improvements will also be made to the Collision mode.
Trials
A major issue in Trials is the popularity of trios, as players often play solo or duo. In order to encourage players to form a full fireteam, the Passage of Persistence will be modified. Now, when playing as a trio, wins will not be deducted after losses, and you can get guaranteed adept weapons upon reaching seven wins, even if you lose 100 times in the process.
Ability Nerfs
Prismatic Hunters have dominated PvP since the release of The Final Shape, and finally, the developers will nerf them. Two highly popular abilities will be changed:
- Threaded Specter Explosion will deal 45% less damage to players, and the Decoy’s aim-assist strength will be reduced by 50%.
- Swarm Grenade’s path while pursuing a target is reduced by 20%.
It’s worth noting that these are not all the ability changes in Update 8.0.5, but only those directly related to Crucible.
Other Changes
The remaining changes are less interesting than the aforementioned ones, but they are still worth mentioning.
In 6v6 playlists, map weightings will be changed, and you will now play much more frequently on maps like Javelin-4, Burnout, Endless Vale, Cirrus Plaza, Dissonance, and Eventide Ruins. At the same time, you will notice a decrease in the frequency of maps like Disjunction, Cathedral of Dusk, Convergence, Twilight Gap, and Exodus Blue, as they were not well-liked.
Lobby balancing will once again be changed, and if you want to read more about this in detail, refer to the full TWID. Bungie will also finally address Quitters, who have become a significant problem recently. Now, if you haven’t left many matches, a few disconnects or exits will be forgiven. However, you can expect to be penalized if you consistently leave Crucible Games.
Exotic Class Item Drop Changes
Following controversial player feedback, developers have decided to change the Exotic Class Item drop rates. Now, opening Overthrow chests has a much higher chance of dropping them, and higher-tiered chests have an even greater chance. Additionally, the Bad Luck Protect will be introduced to this Public Event, increasing the drop rate of Exotic Class Items with each chest that does not drop one. This change will also apply to Lost Sectors with Co-Op missions.
Alongside this, two more changes will be implemented. Now, Dual Destiny will have a weekly challenge, allowing you to receive two Exotic Class Items per character once a week. The second change is likely to displease fans of AFK Farms, as the chance for Exotic Class Item drops from regular Pale Heart chests will be reduced.
Onslaught Attunement Return
After two months, BRAVE Arsenal Weapons Attunement will return to the game and will undergo some pleasant changes. Now, you can increase the drop rate of a specific weapon at Zavala in the corresponding tab, and it will be 60%, not 50%, as it was in Into the Light.
Final words
