Destiny 2 Episode Heresy release date
The new episode is coming soon, with the release date set to February 4, 10 AM PT. The End date has not been revealed yet, but based on the previous Episodes, we can expect Episode Heresy to end around early June.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy story
Destiny 2 Heresy dives deep into a Dreadnaught-themed storyline. Following the events of the Final Shape, Echoes, remnants of previous enemies, emerge with new threats. The key art teases the Spirit of Oryx, who has been brought back in spirit form by the Echo. Expect a major role from Eris Morn, The Drifter, and Commander Sloane, who now wields powers infused with Taken corruption.
Bungie promises a shake-up in storytelling with improved in-game dialogue systems via hologram projectors, reducing the need to run back and forth between missions. It’s all about streamlining the experience while still delivering impactful moments.
A new activity in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy The Nether

The biggest gameplay addition in this episode is The Nether, a thrilling three-player activity set deep within the eerie corridors of the Dreadnaught.
The Nether brings a fresh roguelike gameplay twist to Destiny 2, rewarding replayability with dynamic encounters and evolving challenges. With loot-filled chests at every stage, every journey into The Nether will test your skills and offer exciting rewards for those who dare to conquer its depths.
Drawing inspiration from Shattered Realm and The Coil, The Nether introduces randomized patrol zones, encounters, and objectives, ensuring that no two playthroughs are ever the same.
Survival Mechanics
- Health and shields: Guardians are tougher to kill, but they do not regenerate health.
- Limited Ammo Drops: Ammo is scarce, but players can earn more through gameplay mechanics.
- Restricted Revives: Guardians have a limited number of revive tokens, which can be replenished throughout the mission.
Boons
Players can obtain Boons, powerful stackable buffs that enhance abilities, damage, and weapon effectiveness. Some Boons come with drawbacks, requiring strategic choices to fit your playstyle.
Diverse Gameplay Modes
There are Three distinct modes, each offering a unique challenge and experience. Choose between quick runs or full Dreadnaught explorations for maximum rewards.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Sundered Doctrine – new dungeon
The highly anticipated Destiny 2 new dungeon release date is set to February 7. While Bungie has yet to unveil the exclusive loot, one thing is certain — Guardians will be venturing back into Rhulk’s Pyramid Ship, a location last explored in The Witch Queen’s Vow of the Disciple Raid.
Sundered Doctrine World-First Race
For those looking to prove their skills, the Sundered Doctrine World-First Race offers an exciting challenge. Plus, simply tuning in to watch the event could earn you a free emblem!
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy new weapons
Heretical weapons

Bungie revealed a lineup of new weapons that look like they will be perfect for the new activity, however, not all of the weapons were explained. Most Heretic weapons will not be craftable, making the chase for high-quality rolls more meaningful.
You will also be able to get Adept versions of these weapons by completing the hardest version of The Nether. These versions come with different visuals, an extra-origin trait slot, and multiple perks.
Adamantite Auto Rifle

A new support weapon with a Support Frame trait that allows you to heal your allies. The Willing Vessel origin trait of this weapon improves stats like stability, handling, and reload speed for dealing damage or killing enemies. Effects stack faster near allies.
Psychopomp Grenade Launcher

This is an Arc variant with an Area Denial Frame trait, allowing you to control the field by placing areas that deal damage to enemies. This weapon also comes with the Willing Vessel origin trait, but it also has another perk called Rolling Storm that gives you Bolt Charge for final blows.
Season of Arrivals Reprised Set

The Season of Arrivals weapon set is making a return in Episode Heresy, now with an updated perk pool and enhancement options. If you’re a fan of Cold Denial, the High-Impact Pulse Rifle, you’ll love the fresh perks available. But don’t overlook the rest — each weapon has some exciting perk combinations to explore. All five weapons will be available on day one of Heresy.
Reprised Vault of Glass Weapons

After bringing back Garden of Salvation weapons in Revenant, there was just one Destiny 2 raid left without craftable weapons — Vault of Glass. That changes with Episode Heresy. The Vault of Glass weapon pool is being reprised with new perks and will become craftable once you unlock their patterns.
You can earn drops once per character each week or farm them infinitely when Vault of Glass is the weekly featured raid. If you’re looking for an extra challenge, tackle the raid on Master difficulty to earn Adept variants. The more patterns you unlock, the better chances you have of rolling a third weapon trait in columns three and four.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy new Exotic weapons
Bungie revealed Two new Exotic weapons coming with the Episode Heresy.
Barrow-Dyad SMG

Panic Response trait generates Blight while firing, which recharges the magazine when not shooting. All Blight that charged the weapon will be converted into homing Blighted Seekers that deal more damage. Taken Divergence trait will increase your Blight accumulation if you hit three different targets. Barrow-Dyad will likely be available as a reward for the exotic mission.
Loadstar Trace Rifle

Loadstar is a battle pass weapon that fires a low-intensity Arc beam with stability and accuracy enhancements. Its Arc Alignment trait will allow you to slow the drain of the battery when you or someone else deals Arc damage.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy new Weapon Mods
In Episode Heresy Bungie will introduce a new type of mods: Fragile Weapon Mods. These mods are designed to expand the capabilities of your Episodic weapons, offering unique perks that can significantly enhance your loadout. They act as a temporary power boost, much like the Artifact, but specifically tailored to weapons.
Once you’ve earned a Fragile Weapon Mod, you can equip it onto eligible Episodic weapons just like any other mod. There are no costs or limitations when swapping them in or out, allowing for complete flexibility in your build choices.
Act I will introduce two Fragile Weapon Mods, with more arriving in future Acts. One of these mods is Power of Resolve, coming with the following effect: rapid hits with this weapon create a Taken seeker projectile. Especially strong against Unstoppable Champions.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy new armor
Trials of Osiris armor

The new Destiny Trials of Osiris armor set is inspired by ancient themes of power, godlike combat, and legendary creatures. Trials of Osiris have been reworked in Heresy, shifting the focus to total wins and rewards rather than just going Flawless. Learn more about the rework in our Episode Heresy Trials of Osiris overview
There will be no new Exotic armor in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy
Bungie confirmed that no new exotic armor will be added in Episode Heresy. They stated that they want to focus on rebalancing the already existing collection of exotics. This is, of course, an interesting way to add life to old exotic armor, but it does kill some of the excitement for the new Episode.
Some fans speculate that there are other reasons for this decision, like, for example the lack of developers due to layoffs. Whatever the reason, this situation may lead to even more players becoming tired of the game.
