Exciting developments regarding the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion following Dragonflight were unveiled at BlizzCon 2023. This year, the developers dropped so many bombshells. And just as promised, Chris Metzen ignited the unprecedented excitement of the whole Anaheim Convention Center’s hall with the revelation of not one, but three new expansions for WoW retail. The trio featured in the World Soul Saga are:
- World of Warcraft: The War Within
- World of Warcraft: Midnight
- World of Warcraft: The Last Titan
WoW: The War Within’s release date is scheduled for the Fall of 2024. As for WoW: Midnight and WoW: The Last Titan, there has yet to be information about their launch date.

WoW Next Expansion Release Date
The exact release date of WoW’s next expansion remains shrouded in mystery. However, promising hints have surfaced on the horizon. Back in August, Mike Ybarra, the President of Blizzard, took to Twitter, now X, to reveal an important piece of information about BlizzCon 2023. Apparently, Chris Metzen and Holly Longdale have something “very exciting” about WoW’s future. And they will share it with the community in November when said event takes place.
BlizzCon has always served as a platform for major announcements. This year, it’s set to revert to its traditional offline format after four years of online iterations. Thus, making it an ideal setting for a major unveiling.
The Theme of WoW Future Expansion
When it comes to the expansion’s theme, one fact is abundantly clear: it won’t be a pirate-themed adventure. Mike Ybarra has definitively ruled out pirates as the central focus. Without a doubt, it’s stirring up the community with rampant speculation about what lies beyond Dragonflight.
A significant portion of WoW’s player base is theorizing that the Old Gods and the Void loom on the horizon.
