ORIGINAL POST
Another Destiny 2 Lightfall leak has surfaced. It unveils the story of Lightfall, what will happen after, and Bungie’s future plans. Keep in mind what you’re reading is not official news from the developers. Therefore, they won’t be 100% accurate. Especially when the Pastebin’s source is unknown. However, it contains a lot of fascinating information you may want to take a look at. With that being said, let’s dive in.
LIGHTFALL NEWEST LEAKS 2023

The recent Destiny 2 leak includes information about seasons 20 and 21. It sheds light on the Lightfall expansion, delving into the narrative and exploring the destiny of key characters and how it influences The Final Shape:
- According to the leak, Xivu and the Worm Gods are the first to reach the city, where they drain and weaken the Traveler, leading to the dispersal of the Guardians. In desperation, the Guardians flee to Neptune with Osiris
- Cloudstriders’ demeanor is quite heartless. Upon the arrival of the Guardians, they destroy a pyramid scale. Tormentors spawn and bring demise to the Cloudstrider elder, Cumulus
- We learn Strand because Xivu tainted and brought corruption upon the Traveler. The Strand is not considered a critical aspect of the main story
- Calus has already arrived at Neomuna searching for the veil in Season 19. It functions like the “key” to the Traveler, granting access to a realm of pure light where The Witness is imprisoned. Thus, it explains why the Witness’s influence is limited for now.

- The dimension of pure light is the antithesis of the black garden, which likely will be in the Final Shape. Referred to as “origin point”
- Xivu’s goal is to eliminate the Traveler. However, The Witness objects to this and revives Nezarec to carry out the task of getting rid of Xivu
- The Witness’s three followers end up neutralizing each other. Nezarec supposedly meets his demise after completing his mission of exterminating Xivu. Under the Witness’s order, her pyramid is rammed into the Traveler. It’s worth noting that this was also mentioned in a credible leak that proved true back in 2022.
- The conclusion of Lightfall features the dramatic release of the Witness, accompanied by ominous entities arising from various pyramids in the system, marking his growing influence. Although the Witness takes control of Mars, Guardians won’t revisit this location in Lightfall.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Below are what is going to happen post-story:
- The latest raid in Destiny 2 takes place in a unique location where the pyramid and the Traveler intersect. The visuals are inspired by the 60s psychedelia. The game features a new mechanic of time-traveling back to the collapse, allowing players to alter history and defeat a resurrected Nezarec. The first boss encounter is with a massive Tormentor
- There will be two exotic quests, one for a machinegun and an innovative “community” exotic quest with unclear details
- The reward for the raid will be an Exotic Strand bow, which creates temporary grappling points
- There will be two Strikes. One takes place in Neomuna, and the other in the Last City
- Reprised strikes from Io will return in Season 21
- Psiops Battleground will be added to the Vanguard playlist
- The Inverted Spire, Exodus Crash, and Arms Dealer Strikes will be updated with more challenging enemy encounters and fresh gameplay elements
- No new significant activity, but increased content and activities added to the patrol
- Season 21 will have a fanatic, Western theme. There may be updates to the Garden or Last Wish activities and a new Crucible game mode
- Season 22 will have something to do with machinery wrath. But there isn’t any other information
BUNGIE’S FUTURE PLANS

- Bungie is interested in increasing the general difficulty of Destiny
- They are considering bringing back the old Tower or introducing a new social space for LFG in Season 22
- The subclass in The Final Shape will have a new physics system. Big changes are incoming
- The company also wants to include Mars, the Black Garden, and Titan in future content but is unsure of how to fit them in
- The veil has been planned since the early days of Destiny 1
- The seasonal model will continue, and future seasons will have heavily seasonal themes like Plunder. Blade Runner, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Apocalypse Now are inspirations for the game’s future seasons
- Bungie plans to take a break after the Final Shape’s final season to work on their dev tools and release anthology expansions before starting a new saga
- Bungie is optimistic about the game’s future.
- Sony and Bungie want to make Destiny 2 a new Star Wars.
