Key Takeaways
- Midnight pugging guide shows Mythic+ is not just skill-based — group management, timing, and player psychology matter just as much as damage and mechanics.
- DPS players face the longest queues in Mythic+; the fastest way to progress in Midnight pugging guide is playing Tank/Healer or running your own key.
- Success in Mythic+ depends on momentum, group selection, and expectations — Midnight pugging guide emphasizes building good runs, reusing strong players, and avoiding LFG randomness.
Mythic+ pugging in modern WoW is less about raw skill than people want to admit. Yes, mechanics matter. Damage matters. Interrupts matter. But if you’ve pugged enough, you quickly learn that the real game is group management, psychology, and patience. A lot of players think M+ is just “play well and climb.” which unfortunately is not common.

This guide covers both the basics and the more advanced habits that make pugging bearable and significantly more efficient.
What is pugging

Pugging in World of Warcraft means joining groups made of random players through the Group Finder instead of running content with a fixed team, guild, or friends. The term comes from “Pick-Up Group” and is most commonly associated with Mythic+ and raids. While pugging offers flexibility and quick access to content, it also comes with its fair share of toxicity, disconnects, and frustration.
You may ask why players bother with Mythic+ at all. The main reasons are:
- Getting some of the best gear available from dungeon content
- Achieving Keystone Master and earning seasonal mount rewards
- Pushing rating for personal goals and bragging rights
M+ Pugging guide

Before you even queue for a key, understand something very simple: pugs don’t know you. They will choose you based on these things:
- Item level
- Mythic+ rating
- Class/spec
- Whether they already have better candidates
This means your first objective is making your character easier to invite. While M+ is one of the best gearing method in WoW and often offers BiS items, most players will expect you to be already geared up. So be sure to learn how to gear up your character in Midnight.
Other thing that players keep in mind is whether you play meta spec or not. Unfortunately specs that tend to be best in RWF, meta-tierlists, and top damage are the ones that are invited the most. This doesn’t mean that it is impossible to climb M+ with “Bad spec”, however players will choose over you. Luckily Blizzard tend to change balance each week and you can track if your spec is good in our tier list, be sure to check out!
How to shorten M+ queue time

The problem is not easily fixable, especially if you play a DPS spec. Most players will always prioritize tanks and healers over DPS, since it is usually much easier to find a DPS either from friends or by picking a geared, meta spec from the queue.
The priority list usually looks like this:
- Tanks: The most important and responsible role in dungeons. Tanks are expected to know routes, evaluate pull sizes, and predict the pace of the run.
- Healers: Can also be difficult to find, though the role is generally less stressful than tanking.
- DPS: Extremely abundant. In most cases, players only evaluate whether you can meet the damage check or not.
There are three ways to fix this problem: play peak hours, play Tank or Healer, or create your own Mythic+ groups. Combining all will make your groups fill significantly faster. As you may have guessed already, some options require actual initiative and a bit of responsibility from you. Follow tank routes in your dungeons and be mindfull of previous tips, we’ve already wrote in this article.
Note
To create your own group, you need a Mythic+ Keystone. You can easily get one by completing a lower Mythic+ dungeon or finishing any dungeon on Mythic difficulty.
Of course, you can also do absolutely nothing and keep playing DPS, just do not expect people to invite you within 30 seconds.
Pugging guide: How to behave in your runs

Finally, after getting the group assembled, you still have to complete the dungeon itself. Be respectful to your group, avoid trolling, and do not constantly nag people over every mistake. Players are far more likely to stick around and cooperate if the atmosphere stays functional. At the same time, you will keep running into the usual problems: chronic leavers, toxic players, delusional shotcallers, and people who simply refuse to interrupt.
This can be partially countered by building momentum. If you get a genuinely good run, keep it going. Add competent players, queue again quickly, and avoid going back into full LFG chaos if possible. A temporary network of functional strangers is one of the strongest assets in pugging, and many players are happy to stay for another key after a smooth run.
Most importantly, manage your expectations. Pugging is not fair: you will get declined by worse players, deplete easy keys, and lose runs to random disconnects or early leavers. This is normal. Treat pugging statistically, or eventually it will start draining you emotionally.
How to surrender in M+
Sometimes a run is simply a lost cause, and instead of beating a dead horse, it is better to vote to surrender. Avoid leaving manually, as the system will penalize you with a leaver mark. Even good groups can fall apart if one or two players have poor morale and start mentally checking out after the first mistake.
In those cases, just block problematic players, surrender the run, and move on instead of wasting more time trying to salvage something already doomed. Not every key is worth saving. We also have a separate guide covering the Mythic+ leaver system in more detail.
And that wraps up our Midnight pugging guide! If you don’t wanna bother with all of this M+ charade, you can always rely on WoW boost.
