Gallywix exploiters reveal how they did it

A group of Gallywix exploiters, having used bugs to defeat the final boss of Liberation of Undermine, showcased their gameplay of fake World First and World Second kills.

A group of exploiters released a video showcasing how they faked World First and World Second kills of Gallywix and other bosses in the Liberation of Undermine raid. They didn’t fully explain the mechanics behind their exploit methods. it’s unclear whether this was to prevent others from replicating the exploit or simply to avoid it being patched.

Regardless of their reasoning, they didn’t seem to take the situation too seriously, instead using it as an opportunity to mock Blizzard’s slow response and inability to hotfix the exploit for several days while the Race to World First still continues.

Liberation of Undermine exploit: Video and analysis

In this video, we can see how the exploiters pulled off the kills. They use a flying exploit to quickly reach Gallywix, bypassing all other bosses and mobs. The boss fight itself lasts only a few seconds, as the players clearly use exploited damage-dealing abilities to defeat him.

It’s not entirely clear how the players in the video managed to pull this off. Some speculate that external abilities, such as Ground Pick Up, might be involved. Others believe that recently hotfixed Plunderstorm abilities, like Fall – Land – Explosion – Damage or Combo Attack, which have similar effects, could be the cause. At the very least, all of these abilities were quickly hotfixed by Blizzard shortly after the exploit became public.

These types of spells are not intended for player use. Yet, exploiters manage to find a way to take advantage of them. In the video, they are seen using some in-game macros, though the exact details remain undisclosed. These abilities deal percentage-based damage, which explains how exploiters are able to defeat bosses so quickly.

That covers the damage aspect. Now, about the swimming in the air—this is a flying exploit that has existed for quite some time, leading to various controversies over the years. Using this exploit, players can quickly reach Gallywix, bypassing previous bosses and mobs.

Undermine exploit drama

A group named RAoV Quality Assurance exploited game mechanics to illegitimately defeat the final boss of Liberation of Undermine, Chrome King Gallywix, and falsely claim World First and World Second kills. They utilized internal spells to bypass standard gameplay, leading Blizzard to swiftly remove their achievements and ban the involved accounts, as we discussed in this RWF exploit article.

Despite these actions, the exploiters repeated their misconduct, exposing weaknesses in the game’s security. Blizzard has yet to release any hotfix to prevent the exploit. This situation has sparked discussions within the community about the integrity of competitive raiding and the effectiveness of Blizzard’s responses to such exploits.

All of this is happening at the same time as the Race to World First, which is jokingly called the Race to World Third since Mythic Gallywix has already been killed twice by the same exploiters. Blizzard responds to the Undermine exploit drama with bans

Conclusion

Hopefully, this video will help Blizzard identify the exact issues, quickly patch all the exposed exploits, and perhaps even prevent similar situations in the future.

We do not condone cheating or exploiting bugs to gain an unfair advantage in games, even for entertainment purposes. The only good way to handle exploits is to report them to the game developers.

On the other hand, this exploit drama has generated a lot of buzz around the Race to World First and the Liberation of Undermine raid. Some have even joked that the best way to defeat tricky goblins isn’t through a fair fight, but with shenanigans and tricks—using Gallywix’s own methods against him.
