iOS lovers rejoice: You can play WoW on iPad
Play WoW on iPad? Yes, you read it right. Apple’s recent improvements in gaming support now allow you to play various modern games, including the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft.
As reported by MacRumors’ live coverage on Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 (WWDC2024), the newly introduced Game Porting Toolkit 2 not only enhances Mac gaming by facilitating more advanced games and improving Windows compatibility but also streamlines the process of transferring games from Mac to iPad and iPhone. Thanks to this update, a range of renowned titles, including Prince of Persia, Palworld, Assassins Creed, Resident Evil, Robocop, and many others, will be accessible in Apple’s gaming library.
The king of MMORPG World of Warcraft is also among them. To make things even more interesting, the featured image of WoW is The War Within’s key art, so players can expect to dive into WoW’s latest expansion on their iPads. It remains unclear how gamers can play on iPads, so we will have to wait and see. But having more avenues to enjoy favorite games is always a nice thing.
Nevertheless, the arrival of WoW on iPads before consoles is quite bizarre. And to add, Blizzard has never once mentioned this officially. Thus, learning about this development through Apple’s WWDC2024 event is a surprising revelation that fans likely never anticipated.
What are your thoughts on World of Warcraft making its way to iPads? Do you believe Android users will have the opportunity to experience WoW on their devices, too? And what about console lovers? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!

can you do it on ipad mini😂
This is misleading. You can not play WoW natively on an iPad.
Hi Tom 😊 Thank you for reading our blog! I want to clarify that there’s no misleading information here. As mentioned earlier, players can enjoy World of Warcraft on iPad with Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit 2. During Apple’s WWDC 2024, they also showcased several games that are coming to iPad, including a preview of World of Warcraft: The War Within. You can find a picture in this article for your reference. However, it’s important to note that this is still a work in progress, so we will have to wait a bit until WoW can fully function on iPad.
Besides WoW, what are some of your favorite games that you’re interested in playing on iPad? 🎮
This isn’t true, it MIGHT be possible in the future to play on iPad IF Blizzard chooses to use the toolkit to port it to iPad. I see no evidence anywhere that it is possible to natively run World of Warcraft on iPad at this time.
Apple showcased it in a banner at WWDC along with other games that were being ported to iPad from Mac this year. Which to some is decent evidence that it is unofficially official.
That banner was not referring specifically to iPadOS and to say “ players can enjoy World of Warcraft on iPad with Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit 2.” Is super misleading.
Misleading
There was nothing misleading in the article. Never said natively. It even specifically stated the porting kit.
Haters. I’ve been waiting to see what Microsoft and apple had been working on recently. I had a feeling apple was offering its arm silicone tech in exchange for ai as apple is just not even a contender in ai. Seems my gut was right when I’m seeing this. I’m expecting iPads to be the future of console gaming as cloud gaming and fiber become more accessible. It’s not a matter of if this is the future but when. I’m typing this on a iPad Air 13” that is literally more powerful than my 11600k intel based gaming pc. Not factoring gpu performance. This tiny iPad demolishes my 200w desktop cpu. It’s embarrassing
