WoW Midnight: All sources for Player Housing decorations
Blizzard revealed five ways to get Player Housing decorations and explained how they’ll work in Midnight.

Blizzard has dropped a fresh blog post, giving fans a closer look at the long-awaited Player Housing system coming in World of Warcraft: Midnight. This time, the devs explain how players will be able to collect furniture, decorations, and other interior items to customize their in-game homes.
When determining the sources of housing items, the developers followed three key principles:
- Collecting Housing decorations should be a growing adventure. Players should gradually earn rewards over the course of their journey rather than buy everything on day one and forget about it. This process should be fun, accessible, and not overly difficult.
- Housing decorations should be integrated into core gameplay. Rewards should come from all kinds of content: quests, professions, dungeons, raids, and more.
- Players will be able to earn rewards for their past adventures. The housing system will reward players for past accomplishments. There will also be decor tied to previous expansion meta-achievements. So far, Blizzard has confirmed rewards for A World Awoken, Back from the Beyond, and A Farewell to Arms.
Note
The Housing decorations in Midnight are purely cosmetic and have no effect on character power. This allows players to engage with the housing system as much or as little as they wish, without impacting their progression.
How to get Player Housing decorations

In World of Warcraft, you can decorate your home through various methods: completing quests, purchasing from vendors, trading in the Auction House, crafting, and even collaborating with in-game neighbors:
Method of acquirement | Furniture | Additional information |
---|---|---|
Quests, vendors, and trading in the Auction House | Basic furniture like chairs, beds, and wardrobes. | — |
Dedicated gameplay and time investment | Investment decor: High-end items like shimmering fountains or enchanted floating books. | The exact details of what players need to do are still unknown. |
Completing exceptional feats, including clearing M+ dungeons, raid bosses, or achieving long-term milestones. | Trophies: Unique and special items like Onyxia’s head. | — |
Crafting professions | Items based on the professions’ themes. For example, Enchanters might craft floating books or shimmering orbs, while Jewelcrafters will produce gems and decorative ornaments. | There will be no new profession dedicated solely to Housing. Instead, professions will expand to support it within their existing fantasy themes. All existing professions other than gathering will contribute to the housing ecosystem. |
Material requirements: Crafted items will require recipes, common materials from their respective expansions, and new special materials. | ||
Tradeable goods: Most crafted decorations will be sellable or tradable via the Auction House, offering new opportunities for crafters. | ||
Neighbors | — | Some decorations may require collaboration with in-game neighbors. |
Note
Housing collections will be account-wide, allowing players to share items across multiple homes. However, the number of placable items depends on how many you have collected. For example, if you have four chairs and use three in one house, only one will be available for another.
Some decorations, like Onyxia’s head, will be restricted to one per home to keep layouts logical and clean.
Blizzard made it clear that players won’t be pushed into content they don’t enjoy just to get specific items. If you’re after something like a bookshelf, you’ll have several ways to get one without being restricted to just one activity. The developers want to keep the system flexible and player-friendly.
Decorations will also be available from both current and legacy content. Achievements, old reputations, and expansion-specific currencies will all help players gather everything they need to build their perfect home.
Players won’t have to grind for Housing items

Unlike rare mount drops or never-ending transmog hunts, the Player Housing system is built to avoid repetitive grinding. Most items will have clear, direct ways to obtain them with no guesswork needed.
Blizzard is still figuring out how rewards from systems like Timewalking will fit in. However, players can rest assured that the focus is on making the collection of items feel smooth and rewarding.
Older expansion items won’t flood in all at once either. Instead, they’ll be added over time, letting the housing system grow organically alongside the game itself.
