Dragonflight 10.1.5: Goodbye, Observer and Water Elemental

Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 is live. And with it comes the departure of the Observer and the Water Elemental. Thus, the Warlocks and Mages are bidding farewell to their longtime companions.

The Warlocks’ Observer

In their quest to enhance the game’s visual clarity, the developers have determined that the Observer glyph must go. This decision was made to prevent any perceptual clash with the Summon Darkglare ability.

Although players may feel a tinge of sadness having to part with their demon pet, there is hope on the horizon. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas shared in a Wowhead interview that the Observer appearance might return to WoW in the near future. However, it’ll definitely not as another form of the Felhunter.

The Warlocks won’t stay sad for long, though. After all, their whole roster of pets is about to get a plethora of brand-new appearances soon:

Frost Mage’s Water Elemental

Unlike the Observer for Warlocks, the removal of the Summon Water Elemental spell brings a significant change for Frost Mages. This decision has transformed the class into a pure ranged caster.

However, the Mages’ aquatic friend will still appear during burst phases as part of the new Icy Veins ability.

Bidding farewell to these longtime companions may be bittersweet. But the changes introduced in Patch 10.1.5 are necessary as they will no doubt enhance WoW gameplay and visual clarity.
