Mounts have always been one of the most sought-after rewards in World of Warcraft, combining prestige, style, and utility in a way few other collectibles can match. This guide brings together every dungeon and raid mount available up through Shadowlands, complete with drop rates, farming tips, and strategies to make the process more efficient.
WoW mounts farm basics

Before diving in, please note that this guide covers only raid and dungeon farmable mounts along with their drop rates. World of Warcraft features many more mounts obtainable through achievements, world bosses, special events, Trading Post rewards, and other sources. Some of these can still be farmed today, while others were time-limited and are no longer available. For now, our focus here is strictly on raid and dungeon mounts from older content, spanning Vanilla through Shadowlands. This guide will be updated in the future to include more recent expansions.
Tip on dungeon farm
When farming mounts from normal dungeons, there’s an important rule to remember: you can only enter up to 10 dungeons per hour per account—not per character. Once you hit this limit, you’ll be locked out of entering more dungeons until an hour has passed since your earliest run in that batch. After the cooldown expires, you’re free to continue farming.
To reset a dungeon after each run, simply exit the instance, right-click your character’s portrait, and select “Reset All Instances.” This will reset the dungeon so you can enter again for another chance at the mount. If you’re in a group, make sure everyone is outside the dungeon and that you’re the party leader—otherwise, the reset option won’t be available.
This applies only to the Repeatable Farm category of mounts that drop from normal dungeon difficulty.

Fast mount farming tips and tricks

Here are the most essential tips and tricks for efficient WoW mount farming.
General tips
- Use alts.
More characters mean more chances per week. Spread your attempts across multiple alts each week to increase your odds. - Build for speed.
Use class movement speed bonuses and gear to speed up your runs. - Know your priorities.
Before the event begins, decide which mounts you want to focus on. Look at drop rates, appearances, and how hard the instance is to clear. - Know the mount requirements.
Some mounts only drop on Mythic difficulty, while others drop on Normal and up. LFR mounts may require a specific wing. Be sure to check above what mode you need to run. - Plan your farm route.
SimpleArmory’s planner tool can help you map out a farming path based on the mounts you need. - Farm mounts using the Solo LFR system.
Some mounts can be farmed on any raid difficulty, including LFR. However, accessing LFR solo requires a specific NPC. The full list of available raids is provided below.

- Download addons for mount tracking.
We’ve put together a dedicated guide to help you with this, hope you find it useful!
Best classes for mount farm
The best classes for mount farming in raids and dungeons are Demon Hunter, Druid, Monk, and Hunter. These classes have superior mobility, making them faster than others, which is the most important factor for efficient farming.
Demon Hunter has Fel Rush, Glide, and Double Jump — abilities that make DH the king of speed runs. Thanks to Glide, DH can even abuse certain raids and fly through terrain, though this requires precise knowledge and practice. Check out the video guides for more info:
Druid is also excellent for running old content thanks to abilities like Dash, Cat Form, and Travel Form, all of which significantly boost your movement speed. But there’s no terrain abuse here like in the DH case.
Monk is a fast too, using Roll and Chi Torpedo for quick bursts of movement speed. Same with Hunter, using Disengage, Posthaste, and Aspect of the Cheetah. You can find additional speed boosts by exploring the talent trees of these classes.
Movement speed boosts
Below are enchants and consumables that boost your movement speed, perfect for improving your speed runs through old content:
- Food
- Potions
- Enchants
- Enchant Boots – Scout’s March or Minor Speed on low ilvl boots (optimal boots Enchant)
- Nitro Boosts (Engineers only)
- Chant of Armored Speed (Bracers)
- Chant of Burrowing Rapidity (Cloak)
- Gems
- Elusive Blasphemite (requires four additional gems of different colors)
