How to get Caladboulder

To start your journey toward acquiring the Caladboulder in Season of Discovery WoW, you’ll need to follow a few essential steps. Here’s everything you need to know:
- Strength requirement: Once you’ve located the weapon, you’ll face a Test of Strength to pull it from the stone. You must have 1000 Strength for at least 10 seconds to succeed. This can be achieved through potions, elixirs, procs, or items like R.O.I.D.S..
- Two-handed mace proficiency: Even if you have Two-Handed Sword proficiency, you need to be able to wield a Two-Handed Mace in order to acquire the Caladboulder.
Here is the full list of weapon masters for both Horde and Alliance:
Name | Coordinates | Faction |
---|---|---|
Buliwyf Stonehand | Ironforge [61.6, 89.2] | Alliance |
Ansekhwa | Thunder Bluff [41.2, 61.4] | Horde |
Note
Some Strength effects have short durations, so it’s important to stack them strategically for maximum benefit. Make sure to use these effects with knowledge, ensuring you time them well for the best results. We’ll provide a full list of Strength sources later in the article to help you plan your approach effectively.
Caladboulder spawn locations

The Caladboulder can be found at several locations in the Scarlet Enclave raid:
- The Crypt (right after the second boss)
- Barracks buildings
- The Mines
- Lake near the Blacksmith
- Graveyard before the Reborn Council bosses
How to get 1000 strength
Obtaining 1000 Strength may seem like a daunting task initially, but it’s actually quite achievable. Here’s a breakdown of the various sources that can help you reach that mark:
- Most Plate Armor pieces and some Mail Armor items provide a Strength bonus, ranging from +30 to +50. Additionally, Capes like the Scarlet Commander’s Cape also contribute to your Strength. For a full list of available armor options, be sure to check our Scarlet Enclave loot table guide.
- Certain class talents, like Divine Strength for Paladins (up to 10% if maxxed out to 5), can further increase your Strength.
- Spirit Conch increases all party members’ stats by 15%, including Strength, making it a valuable addition when aiming for the 1000 Strength threshold.
- R.O.I.D.S. provides a flat +25 Strength buff that lasts for 60 minutes, helping you stack up Strength for the challenge.
- Mighty Rage Potion increases your Strength by +60 for 20 seconds, making it an ideal boost when you’re just a bit short. If you don’t have one, the Elixir of Giants offers +25 Strength for 1 hour. Note that these Strength buffs do not stack, so only one can be active at a time.
- Enchant Weapon – Crusader can trigger during combat, granting a 100 Strength increase for 15 seconds. While the short duration makes it tricky to time, if you manage to proc it, be sure to alert your raid group.
- If you have a Shaman in your group, ask them to place the Strength of Earth Totem, which provides an additional +77 Strength.
In short your best Strength load-out should be: Full Plate armor set, Spirit Conch buff, R.O.I.D.S, Mighty Rage Potion, Strength of Earth Totem. As you can see, reaching 1000 Strength isn’t as difficult as it first appears. With the right combination of gear, buffs, and potions, you’ll be able to hit the mark and get the Caladboulder with relative ease.
Just don’t forget that some buffs only last a little bit of time like Mighty Rage Potion. To make use of them. stack up permanent and 1 hour buffs first, and when you are about to get Caladboulder use Mighty Rage Potion. You will have 10 seconds to extract Caladboulder.
How to get Caladbolg

Once you’ve obtained the Caladboulder, acquiring Caladbolg is just a matter of time—literally. To get Caladbolg, you need to break the Caladboulder, which means reducing its 300 durability to zero.
Note
Caladboulder will transform into Caladbolg once broken down. but there’s no need to worry, as Caladbolg is a significantly stronger weapon.
Methods to break the Caladboulder:
- Fish barrels in New Avalon:
One of the fastest ways to break the Caladboulder is to hit the Fish Barrel located on the bottom deck of a boat in New Avalon at coordinates [63.0, 26.0]. This method is efficient for reducing durability. - Combat Dummies in Thousand Needles:
These Dummies are found in the lower area of Thousand Needles at [68.0, 89.6] and offer a convenient way to AFK grind—just be cautious if you have PvP mode enabled. - Invincible mob farming:
For certain classes (like Paladins), a helpful strategy is to farm the Undying Laborer mob in Westfall. To prevent the mob from despawning, keep it within the zone and get it down to 1 HP. Once the mob is at low health, stun it while it’s knocked out to ensure it stays invincible. This tactic can speed up the process of breaking the Caladboulder. - Combat:
Alternatively, you can use the Caladboulder in regular combat, letting its durability decrease naturally over time as you fight. This method is slower but still effective. Additionally, the Chance on Hit stun proc now causes the Caladboulder to lose 1 durability each time it activates, making the process a little less tedious. - Windfury and other procs:
Procs can be really helpful for breaking down Caladboulder. Paladin’s Reckoning talent lets them strike again after taking a critical hit, which helps speed things up. While not quite as straightforward, a Shaman’s Windfury Totem can also accelerate the process—so don’t hesitate to ask a Shaman friend for support.
In short, all methods for this strategy are time-consuming. Fish Barrels are scattered throughout New Avalon, with a few popular farming spots—but be aware that barrels can sometimes despawn. Undying Laborers are harder to locate and require leaving New Avalon entirely. Overall, Target Dummies appear to be the most efficient option, though they involve the longest travel distance.
With these methods in mind, the Caladboulder will eventually break down, unlocking Caladbolg in time.
Note
The Caladboulder has a 10% movement speed reduction—even while mounted or dead. For long-distance travel, it’s best to unequip it.
Breaking the Caladboulder

Note
You cannot lose durability on your weapon from dying or receiving the Resurrection Sickness debuff.
Reducing the Caladboulder’s 300 durability to zero can take up to 16 hours, depending on your chosen method. Be ready for a bit of a grind, but the reward of transforming Caladboulder into Caladbolg will make it worthwhile.
Once you’ve broken down the Caladboulder, you’ll unlock Caladbolg, a superior two-handed sword that’s BiS for two classes, Paladins and Warriors.
Caladbolg’s unique on-use effect
Caladbolg also comes with a powerful on-use effect that can turn the tide in combat. When activated, the earth swallows up Caladbolg for 20 seconds, reducing your movement speed by 50%. However, if you’re moving, your speed increases every 2 seconds.
While the effect is active, smashing into an enemy deals 300 to 2700 fire damage, knocks back all nearby enemy players, and ends the effect. The on-use ability has a 2-minute cooldown, so it’s important to time it well for maximum impact in battle.
Conclusion
The Caladboulder may be a quirky item, but it offers a unique acquisition method and solid stats, making it a fun challenge for players in Season of Discovery. Caladbolg‘s powerful on-use effect, along with its high damage output, makes it an exceptional weapon for many players. The journey to get it may take some time, but the rewards is definetely worth it.
