Destiny 2 Star Wars release date
The Destiny 2 x Star Wars collaboration will launch on December 2, 2025, alongside the Renegades expansion.
Destiny 2 Legends Armor Bundle
Here’s even more Star Wars for you, now featuring in the Legends Armor Ornament Bundle.
Lawless Frontier: New Renegades activity
Lawless Frontier is a brand-new game mode arriving with Renegades. It’s the primary activity accessed from the Holomap, where you choose a destination (Mars, Venus, or Europa), select a job, equip your Renegade abilities, and then drop in—either solo or via matchmaking.
Each mission unfolds differently, featuring dynamic locations, varied objectives, and even time-of-day shifts. Defeat the boss, call in your ship, and extract before time runs out.

The Renegades update brings back the Invasion mechanic, but in a fresh form. Unlike Gambit’s old version, this reimagined Invasion is woven into the Lawless Frontier endgame loop as a strategic, opt-in feature for Guardian-versus-Guardian encounters.
Invasion is a 1v3 PvPvE system where one player, hired by a syndicate, hunts down another fireteam within the Lawless Frontier. With multiple difficulty settings and the ability to opt out entirely, both invaders and targeted teams have full control over whether they participate.
New weekly: Vanguard Orders

In the Destiny 2 Renegades update, a new weekly activity called Vanguard Orders will be introduced. Each week, a different set of objective will be available.

Destiny 2 Renegade Abilities
Bungie has confirmed that Renegades will introduce a new set of powers called Renegade Abilities. Unlike subclass abilities, these are earned through the campaign and post-game activities. Players will gain access to things like airstrikes, Cabal drop-pods, automated turrets, and even vehicles such as the Cabal Walker, Interceptors, and Swoop Bikes.
There are nine base Renegade abilities, split into three categories: Vehicle (2), Defense (4), and Offense (3), each with seven upgrade paths. These abilities give players powerful new tools to shape encounters and playstyles in both PvE and PvPvE content.
Tharsis Outpost: Black Market Hub
The old Tharsis Junction has been rebuilt into Tharsis Outpost, a bustling underground social space. Here, Guardians can interact with shady factions, grab contracts, manage reputation, and form alliances—or rivalries—within the new black-market ecosystem.
Renegades Syndicates
Renegades introduces multiple syndicates, each with their own agendas and rewards. Players will gain notoriety with them by helping or hindering their operations. Bungie revealed three in the ViDoc:
- The Pikers (Eliksni): An anarchist biker gang of Eliksni who reject machine worship, led by Riliks.
- Totality Division (Barant Imperium): A Psion-led faction, with Rao serving as its ruthless enforcer.
- Tharsis Reformation (Vex): A breakaway group of Maya’s Vex with mysterious goals.
Renegades progression & Endgame Loop
Renegades shifts progression away from raw power and toward influence. Completing jobs builds notoriety with factions, unlocking higher-tier contracts, better loot, and access to special jobs that can take players off-planet into a brand-new dungeon. Bungie also hinted that the most challenging content will be locked behind these underground channels.
Destiny 2 Renegades New Dungeon Launch
The expansion will include a brand-new dungeon, officially set to launch in the second week of Renegades—currently planned for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
