Dares of Eternity: Loot Pool, Rotation, Overview, and Weapons
Table of Contents
Ritual Activities have become an indispensable part of Destiny 2, which includes Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. During the Beyond Light year, players were greeted with a delightful surprise in the form of Bungie’s 30th anniversary, which brought Dares of Eternity (DoE)!
Technically, it’s not a Ritual Activity, but DoE is available for free to all players, and here, you can farm a lot of cool loot weekly. Newcomers often face the fact that they don’t even know about its existence. Truthfully, it even surprises us sometimes, but D2 is a very complex game, and it’s easy for an unprepared player to get lost.
The only way to assist such Guardians is to make a comprehensive guide with all the information about Destiny 2 Dares of Eternity. And that’s what we have made. Here, you’ll discover all the details about the activity, the loot, and much more.
Get comfortable. We’re flying out to help Starhorse!
What Is Dares Of Eternity?
Dares of Eternity is a Six-Guardian activity with matchmaking where you participate in the Starhorse’s trials. Your task is to perform various objectives over three rounds where, at the normal difficulty, your enemies and assignments are chosen by tremendous RNG. In the end, a Boss Fight awaits you, and after that, you’ll receive a reward or a Lightning Round, which we’ll speak about a bit later.
DoE is a great way to earn excellent loot if you’ve just started playing D2 or had a long break. Those who have purchased the 30th Anniversary bundle will find a considerable amount of in-game merchandise and references from completing Dares of Eternity ranks. Besides, destroying enemies here is especially fun, and you can feel like that all-powerful character!
In addition to the Normal difficulty, you can launch Legend Dares of Eternity with various modifiers and a specific rotation of enemies. Here, you are able to acquire High-Stat armor and a guaranteed Deepsight Weapon with Enhancement Prisms. And remember, you must have your own team and an 1815 Power Level to play on Legend.
How to Play Dares of Eternity
If you’re interested in participating in Dares of Eternity, open the Destination tab and select Eternity from the right-hand side of the screen. Once there, you’ll be able to take on the challenges of DoE in the center. It’s a good idea to ensure you’re well-equipped with weapons to take on Champions, as they’re often encountered during this activity.
As you begin, you’ll find yourself in Xur’s Dominion, from where you’ll jump to the first arena. As soon as you arrive at the arena, the Wheel of Fortune will be in front of you. Spin it to reveal your enemies for this round. You must complete different tasks depending on the enemy types you are going to fight. Typically, you have to perform simple tasks, such as capture zones to defuse a Fallen bomb or throwing bombs at an invulnerable Cabal.
Did you know that there are pink pools scattered throughout the arena that provide a quick recharge of your abilities or allow for a super jump? Now, you know and can use this information during battles!
After completing the second task, you finally finish the first round and can proceed to the next arena. On the way, you may complete a mini-jump puzzle for which you acquire Starhorse’s Favor buff, which regenerates heavy ammo throughout the next round (if you fail the puzzle, you lose nothing and just move on).
The second round goes just like the first one but with a different set of enemies and a full-fledged boss at the end. After completion, players attempt to guess which boss they’ll face next, and those who choose the correct answer receive a Starhorse’s Favor buff. You should pass a short puzzle to start the final battle.
In the final round, there could be one of three bosses: ghosts of Crota, Zydron and Valus Ta’aurc. Each has its own conditions to defeat, but we’ll leave that as a surprise since you’ll figure it out quickly here!
After defeating the boss, you are greeted with a ceremonial reward or an unexpected Lightning Round, with three times more prizes and a battle with Takens. If you are wondering how to get the Lightning Round in Dares of Eternity, there is one answer — pray to RNG. The whole point remains the same — complete three fast rounds defending points and destroying shield bearers.
Dares of Eternity Loot Pool This Week
Every year, after the release of major DLC, all seasonal content, including loot, leaves the game. However, to ensure that new players can still obtain it, Bungie has to come up with new ways to acquire it. For instance, all Legendary Armor Sets and Weapons from Beyond Light Seasons are available in Dares of Eternity loot rotation, like the Wild Hunt armor. It has been divided into four parts to avoid having a huge Loot Pool, each represented in the pictures below:
Every week, the Destiny 2 Dares of Eternity Loot Pool rotate, so you have a limited time to farm the necessary weapons and armor. In the Season of the Witch, the schedule is as follows:
Date | Rotation |
---|---|
November 14 | Second Rotation |
November 21 | Third Rotation |
But how do you earn all this loot? There are two ways to obtain it:
- From the chests that appear after completing DoE
- From Starhorse Legendary Engrams for 3 Strange Coins
It’s worth noting that if you’re lucky in the Lightning Round, you’ll gain three times more chests and, consequently, three times more loot from the Loot Pool.
If you think all the loot here is outdated, like Friction Fire, and not worth farming, you are deeply mistaken. We highly recommend you get from Dares of Eternity rotation:
- Ignition Code is one of the best Special GLs because of the Slideshot perk
- Fractethyst is a Precision Shotgun in Kinetic Slot with excellent PvP perks (especially Quickdraw and Opening Shot)
- Extraordinary Rendition is a wonderful SMG to use in any PvE activity
- Deafening Whisper is a solid Wave Frame GL that doesn’t quite match up to Forbearance
- Escape Velocity is a fine SMG if you get it with Overflow and Surrounded
Legend Dares Of Eternity This Week
In addition to loot rotation, there is also a rotation of DoE Legend difficulty. Each week, the enemy types and the final boss in rounds change. Below, we provide all the known information for this week:
- First Encounter: Vex
- Second Encounter: Cabal
- Dares Of Eternity Boss This Week: Crota
How to Get 250k in Dares of Eternity
The easiest way is to run the legendary version of DoE and clear all mobs before completing the objective. When you get to the end, do not finish the boss and keep destroying mobs until you reach the required number.
Dares of Eternity Weapons
Well, we can’t miss the fact that DoE has unique weapons. There are only six of them, but some of them are still essential even in the endgame. Don’t forget that you can craft every weapon on this list!
Wastelander M5
While Lightweight Shotguns are generally not very good in PvP, the Wastelander M5 can be considered an exception. Here, you’ll find some of the most valuable perks for this weapon type, namely Perpetual Motion because of Handling, Slideshot, and the beloved Opening Shot to have additional Range. Even for fans of Melee Builds in PvE, there’s something interesting here. The combination of Lead From Gold and One-Two Punch is excellent in endgame content if you play on Strand Titan or Arc Hunter.
Pardon Our Dust
Grenade Launchers are known for their versatility, as they are able to destroy crowds of enemies, deal significant damage to bosses, and even disorient opponents in the endgame. One of the finest representatives of grenade launchers is Pardon Our Dust, which has all the necessary perks. Auto-loading Holster will reload the GL in the holster in 2.5 seconds, which will be practical in any situation. Vorpal Weapon is great during DPS, and Demolitionist is handy in Grenade Builds.
BXR-55 Battler
The Forerunner isn’t the only gun Bungie transferred from Halo to Destiny 2, as the BXR-55 Battler fully replicates the BR55. But that’s not all this Pulse Rifle has to boast, as it has excellent combos for all modes of play. Demolitionist + Incandescent is a beautiful combo to utilize in any Solar Build in PvE, as they always feature Scorch and Grenades. In PvP, Kill Clip will assist you in achieving long Kill Streaks in 6v6, while Eye of the Storm is more suitable at Trials or Competitive.
Retraced Path
The first Legendary Trace Rifle in Destiny history is the Retraced Path, and surprisingly, it has not lost its relevance to this day. Since Trace Rifles are most often used in ad-clear, Subsistence would be the best choice in the 3rd column. The 4th column is more interesting because almost all the perks there are good. Incandescent and Golden Tricorn are perfect to operate in Solar Builds, while Demolitionist, One for All, and Frenzy will fit into any Loadout.
Half-Truths / The Other Half
Once, a legendary Energy Sword from Halo was split into two halves, and somehow, it managed to become much better. The reason lies in one perk that everyone has long heard of. Of course, it’s about Eager Edge. With it, you are able to easily move from one location to another really quickly. But if you want to overcome great distances instantly, you can learn techniques such as Well- or ShatterSkate, which are only possible because of this perk.
Dares of Eternity Armor Ornaments and Other Cosmetics
It’s not only guns that unite us. In DoE, you can get many ornaments and other cosmetics!
Head to Xur’s Treasure Hoard and approach our favorite merchant. There, you can immediately receive a set of ornaments if you bought the 30th-anniversary bundle. Below, you can see how they look:
In addition, you could see a Rewards segment, which you may earn from achieving Dares of Eternity Triumphs. For details, enter the Journey Tab and find the 30th Anniversary Seal.
Next, you have to look around and notice that the Treasure Hoard is filled with chests containing various loot. By opening these chests, you are getting other ornaments and cosmetics such as Dares of Eternity Ship, Sparrow, Ghost, and Weapon Mods. The latter is notable for creating a confetti effect with a headshot final blow (useless but a cute reference). We’ll also include this loot below:
To unlock them, you must raise your Strange Favor Rank to a certain level and have Treasure Keys with you. The main sources of obtaining the Treasure Key are DoE itself, Paraversal Haul, and Starhorse (for 10 Strange Coins).
Final Words
That’s all you need to know about Dares of Eternity in Destiny 2. This activity has a lot of good weapons like Shepherd’s Watch, kinetic Sniper Rifle, or Threaded Needle, heavy Linear Fusion Rifle, to farm and use.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask in the comments, and we’ll answer them, further improving this guide. Don’t forget that Xur visits other locations every Friday to sell new items, so we recommend keeping an eye on Destiny Xur Location!

Thank you Owl Guy. This was a helpful guide. I am such a casual. I am free to play, no dlcs… yes we exist. But I’ve been around since the beginning. Just looking to fill out my collection and find things I don’t have. I also have the strange coins and keys and things. Just didn’t know what to do with them. Now I know. DoE isn’t my favorite activity, but I can run it if there’s loot involved!
Hello, James!
Thank you for your comment! We tried to make this guide as useful and convenient as possible, and we are glad you found it helpful. We know that there are quite a lot of F2P players in Destiny 2, so we created a separate article that lists the best guns that can be earned and used for free. You can find it at https://wowvendor.com/en-us/portal/destiny-2/best-weapon-tier-list-available-for-free-to-play-players/
If you have any problems in Dares of Eternity, be sure to write here again ^_^
Good Luck!
