Key takeaways
- Several currencies, including Restored Coffer Keys, Undercoins, Valorstones, and various Harbinger Crests, will be reset in The War Within Season 2.
- Players who have the currencies listed above should farm them now to acquire items or convert them to gold before they’re reset in Season 2.
- Currencies, such as Flame-Blessed Iron, Kej, Residual Memories, Resonance Crystals, will remain unchanged in Season 2.
In Patch 11.1 PTR, The War Within Season 2 has already begun. Along with it, certain currencies have been reset across all characters to prevent players from stockpiling them during Season 1 and immediately using them to acquire Season 2 rewards. While things that happen on PTR are prone to changes, this also offers us a glimpse of what’s to come. In this case, which currencies are being reset, and which are here to stay once TWW Season 2 arrives on March 4.
Reset currencies in The War Within Season 2
The currencies being reset in The War Within Season 2 are:
- Restored Coffer Keys
- Undercoins
- Valorstones
- Gilded Harbinger Crest
- Runed Harbinger Crest
- Carved Harbinger Crest
- Weathered Harbinger Crest
If you haven’t had the chance to purchase items requiring these currencies or convert them to gold, now is the time to farm and grab everything you need before your hard-earned currencies are gone in Season 2. Here’s how things will work as far as we know:
- Restored Coffer Keys: Reset. You’ll need to farm it back from scratch. If you still have unused Restored Coffer Keys, now is a great time to complete the “I Got the Keys” achievement (Open 50 Bountiful Coffers with a Restored Coffer Key). This is your last chance to finish it before the season reset.
- Harbinger Crests: Replaced with new versions. Leftover crests will turn into gray items that can be vendored for gold.
- Undercoins: Won’t be in Season 2, but at the moment, they can still be put to good use before the reset. You can spend Undercoins on Delver’s Pouch of Reagents, which provides valuable crafting materials and reagents. These can either be used for professions or sold for gold, whether through vendors or on the Auction House.
- Valorstones: If nothing changes from previous resets, any leftover Valorstones will automatically be converted to gold.
If you need any help with the grindy and boring parts of obtaining these currencies, don’t hesitate to use WoW boosting as an alternative.

What can we do with restored coffer keys if our gear is as high as it can go in season 1 and we’re still accumulating restored coffer keys? On one alt I have 10 keys and there is nothing the delves can do for me any more. All my gear is higher than what I can get from a level 8 delve or from the great vault.
Hi Aerynsun8449!
If you’ve already maxed out your gear, Restored Coffer Keys don’t have much use beyond completing the “I Got the Keys” achievement (opening 50 Bountiful Coffers). Unfortunately, they can’t be converted into gold or transmog. As we mentioned in our article, they’ll reset with the new season.
There’s always a chance Blizzard could introduce a last-minute fix to let players convert leftover keys into gold just like they did with the stones. It really depends on how many players end up with extra keys. That said, since Coffer Keys are mainly meant for gearing throughout the season, most players use them as they go. In your case, maybe you combined Bountiful Delves with Mythic+ farming? It may explain why you’ve got some extras.
I’ve also updated this article with more details on the other currencies that are going away, so feel free to check it out if you need more info! And if you have any other questions, I’m happy to help 😊
Use them to farm Undercoin, buy the Delver’s Pouch of Reagents from Finley, put the Reagents in the auctionhouse. Made 500k gold in 3 weeks that way.
