Since Mists of Pandaria expansion, players have been waiting for this mount to appear in the game. Dataminers found a model for Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren many years ago. At that time, it was called Stormclaw mount. Now, players can finally obtain this mount with the release of the Siren Isle patch. Here is everything you need to know to add it to your collection. Remember that some information can be changed in this Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount guide with the release of the 11.0.7 patch.

Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount model
Take a look at a precious bird players were waiting for so long. Here is Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount model.
How to get Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount
To get Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount, you have to find five Runekeys located on Siren Isle and use them on Runestones in The Forgotten Vault. Some info and coordinates can be changed with the 11.0.7 patch release.
How to get to The Forgotten Vault
To get to The Forgotten Vault, you have to enter the cave /way 38.19 51.78 in the storm phase. To get access to the storm phase on the Siren Isle and complete this criteria, you have to complete Serpent’s Wrath quest by defeating rares, completing quests, slaying event bosses, etc. Once you complete the quest, you will gain access to the storm phase. To enter or leave the storm, talk to Suzie Boltwrench /way 68.99 49.14.
In the cave, you will find the Singing Crystal /way 50.31 15.36. It will teleport you to the Vault. Here, /way 72.70 61.32, you will find lifeless Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount, lying among five runestones:
- Whirling Runestone
- Cyclonic Runestone
- Turbulent Runestone
- Torrential Runstone
- Thunderous Runestone
To activate each Runestone, you need to obtain a certain Runekey. Here is a Thrayir mount guide for each Runekey you will need.
How to get Whirling Runekey
To get Whirling Runekey, you simply have to defeat Ksvir the Forgotten rare here in The Forgotten Vault /way 38.02 76.25 in the storm phase. Remember that this Runekey doesn’t have a 100% drop chance from this rare. You might need to spend a few more tries. It is not confirmed, but the drop chance from Ksvir the Forgotten can decrease after the first try of each day. We will update this part of the guide once the information is confirmed.
How to get Torrental Runekey
To get Torrential Runekey, you have to collect and combine seven Torrential Fragments. Every mob in the storm has a chance of dropping Torrential Fragment, meaning you will likely get it through a natural progression on the Siren Isle. But if you want to farm mobs specific for this item, we recommend you visit a shore with skeletons /way 41.92 25.78. However, be informed that with the release of the 11.0.7 patch, the chance of getting Torrential Fragments significantly dropped.
How to get Thunderous Runekey
To get Thunderous Runekey, you need to collect and combine five Thunderous Fragments. These fragments can be found in various treasures across the Siren Isle, both inside and outside the storm. Sometimes, during your journey on the Siren Isle in the storm phase, you will notice a wind showing you the way. By following these winds, you will find Runed Storm Caches.
You can also farm Seafarer’s Caches. To start farming these, you must complete Dipping a Toe quest from Apprentice Tanmar. This quest becomes available after a few first quests on the Siren Isle, meaning you better get introduced to it before hitting for this method. Once the quest is done, you will get a permanent Blessing of the Seadweller buff, which allows you to wander on the bottom of the sea around the Siren Isle. These Caches can only be found outside the storm phase.
The drop chance of Thunderous Fragments is approximately 5% for Seafarer’s Cache and 20% for the Runed Storm Cache. Keep in mind that Seadweller’s ones have a higher spawn rate, meaning you still have to beg your luck in both methods of farming. Once you find all five fragments, you can combine them into Thunderous Runekey.
How to get Cyclonic Runekey
To get Cyclonic Runekey, you have to defeat Zek’ul the Shipbreaker in the storm phase /way 33.18 73.62 or catch it near the rare’s spawn /way 36.38 76.77 via Fishing. Both methods don’t have a 100% chance of giving you the Runekey. However, many players insist that fishing has a higher chance of success. You can still try slaying Zek’ul the Shipbreaker, but we recommend trying fishing instead. Important: You don’t need a high level of Fishing to catch the Runkey. Just make sure to have Khaz Algar Fishing.
How to get Turbulent Runekey
To get Turbulent Runekey, you have to find and combine three Turbulent Fragments in the storm phase. These look like tiny yellow crystals. Here is where all three fragments are located:
- In the dirt pile next to a Kul Tiran ghost /way 38.19 51.78.
- Near a ghost in the cave /way 67.07 78.44.
- In the ghost’s hands in the cave /way 52.39 38.59.
Combine all three Turbulent Fragments to get Turbulent Runekey.
Once you have collected all five Runekeys, you can visit The Forgotten Vault and activate all Runestones to get Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount.
Last parting words
The Thrayir mount is almost legendary in terms of the time that has passed since the community first learned about it. Dataminers found it back in 2013 during the 5.4.0 patch. Players had been patiently waiting for this precious bird to become obtainable finally. The only question left is why Blizzard hasn’t brought it to us earlier. But it seems like we will never find it out.
This is it for our Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren mount guide. We hope it will help you during your adventures on the Siren Isle. Lots of new content awaits players in the 11.0.7 patch, so make sure to read our other articles about some added features on the Siren Isle:

No torrential fragments all day.
The drop rate for torrential fragments has been seriously nerfed – i’ve picked up 2 in about 4 hours of farming.
The Cyclonic Runekey can be fished up behind the Zek the Shipbreaker as well. it took me about an hour. others l, faster or slower.
