Midnight tier list criteria

Note
This tier list won’t focus only on perfomance for DPS specs for Midnight, as the meta will evolve for Midnight Season 1, especially given how much Blizzard has changed classes.
Our tier list is based on Warcraft logs stats snapshots, multiple DPS rankings, and player feedback.
Here’s how the rankings break down in this Midnight specializations tier list:
- Tier S: Classes with major improvements or changes to their specs, making them stronger and more enjoyable to play. These are the best options for a new main in Midnight.
- Tier A: Well-balanced and fully functional classes that can be fun in Midnight due to trivialization of some abilities or more acessability.
- Tier B: Solid classes that work fine in Midnight, but have some limitations or didn’t receive significant updates. Still enjoyable, but not as strong as higher tiers.
- Tier C: Classes that received little, no, or worse changes for Midnight. Their specs may feel less enjoyable compared to other options.
Note
Like any live-service game, the WoW meta can shift with balance updates and tuning passes. We will update our Midnight DPS tier list when any significant changes occur.
DPS tier list Midnight

Note
This DPS tier list was made before Patch 12.0.7 release.
Our rankings are based on this Warcraft logs snapshot:

Overall, class balance looks fairly solid, with only a few outliers. In most cases, these differences are likely tied to specs that require a higher level of execution and player skill to perform at their full potential.
Note
Not every raid run is recorded on Warcraft Logs, but most runs from competitive groups are captured. Keep in mind this snapshot can change due to Blizzard balance updates, player behavior, and other variables.
S-tier: Best DPS for Midnight

Let’s start by looking at the best DPS specs to main in Midnight Season 1.
Survival Hunter

Survival Hunter have received another rework in Midnight. Takedown and Boomstick are very strong new abilities that deal immense damage. Although Survival has lost many of its signature abilities, like Eagle Fury, it has gained far more from the rework and has secured its place in S-tier.
Frost Mage

Frost Mage remains a strong and enjoyable main in Midnight, especially for players who love consistent control, crisp burst windows, and satisfying crowd management.
Frost Death Knight

Recently Frost took advantage of tunings and ascended into an S-tier of our Midnight DPS tier list.
Outlaw Rogue

Out of all Rogue specs, Outlaw has received the most in terms of buffs. After rough start on release Outlaw raised to an S tier in our Midnight DPS tier list.
A-tier: Strong DPS in Midnight

Here is the list of good-performing specs in Midnight, based on recent balance changes and Warcraft logs. You could even call them top DPS Midnight specs to main.
Devourer Demon Hunter

Despite Devourer Demon Hunter being already strong on release, Blizzard have decided to buff him even more. That’s why Devourer went straight to S-tier.
Demonology Warlock

In Midnight, Demonology Warlock has undergone numerous changes and currently is one of the strongest specs in the game. This secured him an S tier.
Windwalker Monk

Although Windwalker Monk has lost some utility and versatility, the DPS doesn’t lie. Windwalker remains a strong DPS performer in the Midnight, solidifying its place in S tier on our tier list.
Marksmanship Hunter

Marksmanship Hunter in Midnight received on
Shadow Priest

Shadow Priest has emerged as a strong option in the Midnight. While none of the changes were critical, overall tuning and reliable bursts have elevated SP to A tier.
Affliction Warlock

DoT oriented gameplay puts Affliction Warlock in a good spot in Midnight. The damage output alone has put Affliction into A tier.
Havoc Demon Hunter

Already a strong spec, Havoc still remains highly competitive in the Midnight even after patch 12.0.5 changes.
Destruction Warlock

Destruction Warlocks (And Warlocks in general) feel really good this Season. The class has been tuned for AoE damage.
Devastation Evoker

Devastation Evoker received some nerfs in terms of DPS output and therefore became weaker. This places overall strong spec to an A-tier.
Unholy Death Knight

Unholy Death Knight seems ok in Midnight expansion. While some numbers might be inflated due to shorter encounter times from scaling,
Subtlety Rogue

Subtlety Rogue in Midnight has been significantly reworked to be more accessible for newer players. However just like any other Rogue spec, Subtlety needs Haste to have more resources and stable DPS, and just like any other Rogue it lacks such attribute in Season 1 start. However, after recent tuning Subtlety started feeling a bit better.
Enhancement Shaman

Many players feel Enhancement Shaman in Midnight has been overly streamlined, making rotations more tunneled and reducing skill expression. However most Enchs can still perform good damage and it shows!
B-tier: Decent DPS in Midnight

These are decent specs to consider maining in Midnight.
Fury Warrior

Not much has changed for Fury Warrior, as the removed talents were mostly less viable options. The recent DPS tuning alone, however, has downgraded Fury Warrior into B tier.
Arms Warrior

Just like Fury Warrior, Arms Warrior didn’t lose anything significant in Midnight. However recent tunings got him good and his overall DPS lowered.
Elemental Shaman

While most of the specs were tuned in some way, Elem stayed the same. This has powercrept him to C-Tier in our Midnight DPS tier list.
Assassination Rogue

Assassination Rogue underwent a bad rework in Midn
Beast Mastery Hunter

The Beast Mastery spec in Midnight has become even simpler, with fewer decisions, less versatility, and overall reduced complexity. Does it mean its damage output became less – no. BM Hunter is a great beginner friendly spec to go through Midnigh.
Balance Druid

Balance Druid in Midnight features a reworked Eclipse system, letting players actively trigger a 15-second Eclipse instead of relying on passive flips. This change offers little benefit to Moonkins, placing them in B tier.
Fire Mage

Fire Mage feels OK in the Midnight expansion and will receive some DPS adjustments.
Augmentation Evoker

RWF has showed us that Augmentation is a great DPS spec in Midnight. Because of it’s buffs, Augmentation was constantly picked in the race.
Retribution Paladin

Retribution Paladin in Midnight mostly stayed the same and with gear stats from Season 1 has secured place in S-tier of Midnight DPS tier list.
Arcane Mage

Arcane Mage has been slightly tuned for Midnight. Ar
C-tier: DPS that didn’t change much

These specs currently struggle due to the lack of BiS or balancing issues. Their position is expected to change with full BiS or targeted buffs.
Feral Druid

Feral Druid in Midnight retains its bleed-centric melee gameplay, with core abilities like Rake, Rip, and Ferocious Bite remaining central. Overall Feral Druid DPS rankings have dropped while having pretty wild DPS distribution.
And that wraps up our Midnight Season 1 tier list! Keep in mind, all tier lists are subjective. Everything in this DPS ranking will change as the Season progresses.

What kind of retarded-ass drivel is this? “S-Tier Best Midnight DPS Spec: MM Hunter” followed by,
“We hope MM improves, but for now, consider BM Hunter, or even Survival if you have a well-geared weapon for them.”
So, it’s S-Tier, but you’re better off being BM or “even SV”. . . .??
Devourer has its own special tier E! so disappointed in it
Well you got it right on BM, my golden retriever can play it.
This is some ChatGPT type shit, if I ever saw one. Tf is this list?
this article is crap
that must be the crappiest dps tier list on this planet. balance druid S tier? wtf are you guys smoking – lol
Hello! Thank you for your comment!
We are aware of the situation the Balance Druid is currently in regarding the spec’s performance in the raid.
Our tier list, however, is based on the class’s performance in Mythic+. There, Balance Druid feels way better. You are right, it is no longer an S-tier spec, but as rankings show, it is still a good one with a spot in the A-tier.
Currently, we are updating our tier list to show the situation in M+ after 4 weeks of Season 3.
Arcane mages are C tier yet they are the top performing prio damage spec, included in god comps. I don’t think Author actually plays WoW…. lmfao
Rip survival hunter
Guardian druids definetly A tier+
Not accurate! did you not look at the new updates?
we should all agree that tier lists in beta are…questionable. Things will change weekly until the final release build comes out. Unless the author wants to actually compare ingame data(not just community opinions) on a weekly basis go test for yourself and see how it feels. or just wait for release 🙂
j’avoue que placé le feral en bas hors qu’il fait plus de dégâts que l’arcane en mm+ actuellement sur la bêta joue t’il seulement a la bêta ?
So…Ele Shaman is the 5th best DPS and Resto Shaman is the best healer… yet Shaman is the worst ranked class??
Have you just not seen the shaman rework? Ele is competing with arcane in ST and is destroying the AOE meters. Stone bulwark totem has fixed their survivability also.
agreed. the top 5 and top 3s don’t even coincide with the list, actually contradicts the rankings.
