Key takeaways:
- Puzzling Cartel Chips (Dinars) return in Patch 11.1.5 at May 13.
- You earn Dinars by completing a weekly quest that requires defeating 4 Liberation of Undermine bosses in any difficulty or 4 M+ dungeons.
- Players can earn up to 9 Dinars per character over time and use them to buy 3 items, since each item costs 3 Dinars.
- Heroic LoU loot is available to everyone, but Mythic Undermine items require prior Mythic boss kills. You can also buy M+ trinkets with Dinars.
- Choose your purchases wisely: Dinars are limited, so focus on BiS or rare drops.
Looking to gear up faster in Patch 11.1.5? With the return of Dinars, now called Puzzling Cartel Chips, The War Within introduces a familiar but updated system to help players target specific raid loot from the Liberation of Undermine and M+ trinkets. It also protects you from bad luck when you don’t get your BiS slot in raids or dungeons for weeks.
Whether you’re a Mythic raider, a casual LFR participant, or a Mythic+ grinder, Dinars will help you to gear up. This guide breaks down everything you need to know about earning and spending Dinars effectively, including how to unlock Heroic and Mythic gear, when to farm, and what items are worth your Dinars.

What is Puzzling Cartel Chips
Puzzling Cartel Chips, also known as Dinars, are a new currency coming to The War Within on May 13, halfway through Season 2 with the Turbo Boost event release. Dinars let you buy Heroic raid gear from Liberation of Undermine, even if you don’t consistently raiding. You can also get M+ trinkets and Mythic-level gear, but only if you’ve done the Mythic raid.
You need 3 Dinars to buy any item.

This system is based on the Dinars from Shadowlands. You can use Chips to buy loot that didn’t drop for you, including top BiS items like trinkets and weapons.
How to get Dinars in 11.1.5
A new weekly quest for the Liberation of Undermine raid lets you earn Puzzling Cartel Chips. To complete it, you need to defeat 4 bosses from the Undermine raid in any difficulty (LFR included). As an alternative, you can complete 4 M+ dungeons.
We don’t yet know where this quest will be given, but it’s likely to appear in some crowded location (Undermine or Dornogol), or players will get it automatically when logging in.
In week one, you get 3 Chips. After that, each week gives 1 Dinar. You can get up to 9 Dinars per character in total.
Dinars gear schedule in 11.1.5
You can start collecting your first Puzzling Cartel Chips on May 13, and Dinars will be farmable weekly from that date onward until you earn 9 Dinars per character in total. Players can earn one Dinar per week.
Dates | How many Dinars you can get | Enough for a piece of gear? |
---|---|---|
May 13 – May 20 | 3 Puzzling Cartel Chips | Yes, you have 3 Dinars |
May 20 – May 27 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | No, collect more Dinars |
May 27 – June 3 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | No, collect more Dinars |
June 3 – June 10 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | Yes, you have 3 Dinars |
June 10 – June 17 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | No, collect more Dinars |
June 27 – June 24 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | No, collect more Dinars |
June 24 – July 1 | 1 Puzzling Cartel Chip | Yes, you have 3 Dinars |
If you miss a week, you can potentially catch up by earning extra Dinars until you’re back on track with others.
You can save your Dinars for later to buy Mythic-level loot, if you are planning to progress in the Mythic raid.

What to buy with Dinars in 11.1.5 patch
Of course, you should focus on missing BiS gear that will increase your build’s performance the most. However, we also recommend picking up some of the rare drops from the Liberation of Undermine raid, if they suit you:

How to get Dinar raid gear
All Puzzling Cartel Chips are the same, and there’s a single Dinar vendor for all the loot. However, the item level of the gear you can buy varies depending on your Undermine progress.
Hero track Undermine Dinars items
You can purchase any Heroic-level item from any boss in Undermine using 3 Dinars.
Hero track Undermine Dinars items
Mythic level loot is trickier to get. In order to unlock it you need to defeat at least once a Mythic raid boss, from whom this item drops.
For example, if you want to buy the Mythic ilvl Eye of Kezan with Dinars, you must have defeated Mythic Chrome King Gallywix at least once beforehand. This rule applies to any Undermine boss following the same principle. To make this easier, you can consider using our WoW Mythic Undermine boost to secure all Mythic boss kills.
Last words
The launch of the Dinar system can help players catch up and secure up to 3 pieces of Liberation of Undermine raid gear without excessive effort. However, there are strict limitations on Mythic-level loot, making it harder to obtain with Dinars.
This topic has already sparked discussion in the community. Blizzard is already making things easier for players by giving out 3 Dinars in week one, and there’s hope for more player-friendly adjustments before the May 13 release.
