Key takeaways
- Chrono Corsair mount bugged in Week 1: Players are unexpectedly receiving the mount after 15–25 Timewalking dungeons, without waiting multiple weeks.
- Bugged achievement tracking may be the cause: The “Master of the Timeways” progress appears to count dungeons instead of weekly completions, bypassing intended requirements.
- Blizzard has not acknowledged the issue: There is no official response or hotfix yet, and the bug remains active—get it before it’s fixed.
Players participating in The War Within patch 11.1.7 Turbulent Timeways III event have reported obtaining the Chrono Corsair via a bug during the first week of the event—contrary to prior expectations that the mount would only become available after four weeks of progression.
The first known report came from Reddit user Lazy_Cake999, who shared:
“Got it after about 20 dungeons. :)”

The Chrono Corsair is the reward for maintaining the “Master of the Timeways” buff for five weeks. This buff is granted after completing five Timewalking dungeons in a given week and is tracked account-wide. Another major benefit of Turbulent Timeways is the accelerated leveling, making it an ideal time to leveling alts in The War Within patch 11.1.7.
Bug confirmation

In a detailed comment posted to Wowhead, user FateOfNines confirmed a similar experience, suggesting that the mount and associated achievement are not only available in Week 1 but may be functionally bugged:
“Made an account specifically to comment on this – I was on roughly my 15th Timewalking dungeon and got this achievement and the mount. To be honest I had no idea there was an achievement or a mount as I rarely keep up with the news. I was simply doing Timewalking for the EXP bonus to level an alt rogue.
It appears the achievement is broken as each time I finish a dungeon now, the number goes up. I’ve finished 2 dungeons after getting the achievement so currently it reads 7/5 done. I’ve no idea what triggered this. I have not closed the game (it’s my off day so no-lifing the game today), only returned to the character selection to post things on the Auction House on an alternate character once. It wasn’t until I whipped the mount out in town and people started asking how I got it that I decided to google it and see what the fuss was about. There have been no exploits or anything of the sort, no trial accounts, nothing – just running dungeons to level a character.
Current date – 6/17/2025. Achievement time – Roughly 1:27am EST.”
Another comment came from QDub, who noted strange behavior from the achievement tracker and ultimately received the mount as well, even so he claimed that the bug was already hotfixed:
“I think you got it right before they hotfixed it. Not sure though—sounded like someone just got it in my group, but me personally my achiev isn’t updating past 3/5.
EDIT: Got it after around 15 more dungeons. Did around 25 total.”
Possible explanations
Community theories for the early drops include:
- A bugged achievement tracker incorrectly counting dungeon runs instead of unique weekly completions.
- A backend error causing premature completion and mount reward.
- An unintentional shift to make the mount a random drop, though this would be inconsistent with previous Turbulent Timeways events.
Some players speculated that reused logic from the Infinite Timereaver mount or past Timeways bugs might have contributed.
How to get Chrono Corsair mount first week of patch 11.1.7
Note
It’s important to note that since this is a bug, Blizzard may choose to remove the mount from players who obtained it early. However, because no exploit or abuse is involved, there is no risk of account penalties or bans.
Prerequisites:
- Patch 11.1.7 (The War Within)
- Access to Timewalking dungeons
- Character eligible for Timewalking (Level 10+)
Step by step guide:
- Log in with your main or leveling alt
- Any eligible character works, but many players have reported doing this while leveling alts for bonus EXP.
- Queue for Timewalking dungeons
- Use the Dungeon Finder to join Timewalking groups.
- Complete multiple Timewalking dungeons
- Reports vary, but the The War Within Patch 11.1.7 Chrono Corsair bug occurs for players after approximately 15–25 dungeon runs.
- Monitor the “Master of the Timeways” achievement
- You may notice the achievement progress going above 5/5 (which shouldn’t be possible). This is part of the bug.
- Check for the achievement completion pop-up and mount
- Once triggered, you’ll get a notification for completing the Master of the Timeways achievement and receive the Chrono Corsair mount in your collections.
- (Optional) Stay logged in
- Some players mentioned never exiting the game session. While it’s unconfirmed whether this affects the bug, it may help preserve progress.
No Blizzard clarification

Blizzard has not issued any statements on the situation, leaving players unsure whether the early mount access is intended or not. While some achievement progress appears to have halted for certain characters, others continue to report new drops.
With no confirmation or fixes announced, many players are choosing to run as many dungeons as possible while the issue remains live.
We will continue to monitor for any official response or changes to the achievement tracking system.
