To obtain the Scarlet Insignia, players must complete a straightforward quest chain that also introduces important lore and context surrounding New Avalon and the Scarlet Enclave raid.
Step 1: Start with “Scarlet Activities”
Quest Giver: Leonid Barthalomew the Revered
Location: Light’s Hope Chapel, Eastern Plaguelands
- Head to Tirisfal Glades, north of The Bulwark. At coordinates [81.84, 58.24], you’ll find a tent on a hill.
- On the ground is a ball and chain object. Click it to summon a Level 60 Elite Scarlet Infiltrator.
- Defeat the infiltrator. The fight is simple and can be soloed by most classes.
- Loot the Orders from the High General from the body.
- Return to Leonid at Light’s Hope Chapel and turn in the quest.
Step 2: Complete “Unrest at Tyr’s Hand”
Quest Giver: Leonid Barthalomew
Objective: Investigate the situation at Tyr’s Hand.
- Head to the Scarlet Base Camp west of Tyr’s Hand. The entrance is around [67.8, 83.2].
- Speak with Commander Beatrix to learn about the Crusade’s activities.
- Return to Leonid at Light’s Hope Chapel once you’ve spoken with her.
Step 3: Dialogue follow-up and quest unlocks
Once “Unrest at Tyr’s Hand” is complete, speak with Leonid again. He’ll offer a brief dialogue quest. Accept and turn it in.
Additionally, you will see a side quest called Leonid’s Burden from Lord Maxwell Tyrosus nearby. This is instantly completed and serves as a prerequisite for unlocking the next quest. You’ll also unlock The Wrecked Caravan, but this is optional and unrelated to the Scarlet Insignia path.
Step 4: Accept and Complete “The Scarlet Reclamation”

Turn In: Commander Beatrix at the Scarlet Base Camp
- Return to Commander Beatrix at the Scarlet Base Camp.
- Turn in the quest to continue progressing toward the intelligence-gathering phase.
Step 5: Do “Gathering Intelligence”
Quest Giver: Scarlet Inquisitor Caldoran (at the Scarlet Base Camp)
- Speak with Inquisitor Jociphine nearby (/way 68.2 82.4) to receive a 10-minute Scarlet Illusion disguise. This lets you blend in while scouting.
- Head to three locations and get close enough to receive quest credit:
- Tyr’s Hand Cathedral: [85.2, 83.8]
- New Avalon Keep: [90.0, 81.1]
- New Avalon Mage Tower: [99.5, 90.6]
- You can mount while disguised, but avoid Scarlet Bloodhounds, which will see through the illusion.
- Once all three objectives are complete, return to Inquisitor Caldoran at the base camp.
Step 6: Complete the “New Avalon” Quest to Get the Insignia

Reward: Scarlet Insignia
- After turning in “Gathering Intelligence,” Inquisitor Jociphine will offer the quest “New Avalon”.
- This quest is the final step and will reward you with the Scarlet Insignia, a required item to permanently disguise yourself within New Avalon when used alongside four pieces of Scarlet Uniform gear.
Using the Scarlet Insignia
To activate your disguise in New Avalon, you must equip:
- At least four pieces of Scarlet Uniform gear (cloth, leather, mail, or plate sets)
- The Scarlet Insignia
Once equipped, your character will appear as a member of the Scarlet Crusade, allowing you to walk freely in New Avalon, interact with vendors, access crafting stations, and accept special quests.

Alternatively, you may be able to use a Tabard of the Scarlet Enclave with the insignia, but its location is currently unknown.
