The Metamorphosis Rune holds a particular interest for Warlocks. It’s the key for these casters to embrace their Tank role. Before the hotfix, players had to defeat the first raid boss in Blackfathom Deeps to acquire this Rune. And so, the Warlock Tank spec remained inaccessible until players had progressed into the endgame content of Phase 1. It was pretty disheartening, to say the least. After all, being able to Tank as a Warlock is one of the main appeals of SoD.
Furthermore, as SoD advances into its later phases and the level cap surpasses 25, it’ll become harder to find groups for the Blackfathom Deeps. The rewards this raid offers will be overshadowed by better items from quests, professions, and dungeons. Warlocks will find themselves unable to obtain their much-needed Rune for this reason. Thus, they will have to forfeit one of the most enticing aspects of their class in SoD.
Blizzard has been paying close attention to the feedback from the player base. Just hours ago, Senior Game Producer Josh Greenfield took to Twitter to announce the changes to Metamorphosis’s acquisition:
At first, he mentioned that the changes will come in later phases. However, he then surprised the community with even better news soon after. According to the tweet, adjustments would be implemented either today or tomorrow. He also explained that the reason Metamorphosis was locked behind the raid was a miscommunication between the team members:
Yet, as it turns out, Blizzard has already rolled out the hotfix for Metamorphosis. And now, players don’t need to complete the Blackfathom Deeps raid for the Rune anymore:
