With the arrival of SoD Phase 5, it’s time to travel to the Blackwing Lair raid and confront Nefarian, the son of Deathwing and brother of Onyxia. Built by Dark Iron Dwarves and located within Blackrock Mountain, the raid brings a roster of 8 formidable bosses and significant updates, such as an improved loot table and a scaling difficulty system similar to what you could see in the Molten Core raid. Phase 5 SoD Blackwing Lair loot table: Tier 2 Tokens

In Season of Discovery Phase 5, Tier 2 sets are obtained from class Tokens dropped by Blackwing Lair bosses. These Tokens are divided into three groups, each connected to gear for three specific classes. However, the leggings and headpieces drop from Ragnaros and Onyxia instead:

Draconian Robe: Priest, Mage, Warlock
Primeval Chest: Warrior, Rogue, Druid
Ancient Chest: Paladin, Hunter, Shaman

Additionally, Pix Xizzix, located at [28.4, 75.8] in Stranglethorn Vale, sells T2 Bracer Tokens for Tarnished Undermine Real currency and relics for Druids, Paladins, and Shamans.

Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal mount

Several quests in the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal mount questline will take you to the Blackwing Lair raid. One quest, “Nefarius’s Corruption,” requires you to defeat Nefarian, while another, “Only One May Rise,” challenges you to take down Broodlord Lashlayer.

Thunderfury legendary weapon

You can also start working towards a legendary weapon, Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, in Blackwing Lair. To obtain it, you need to gather 2x Bindings of the Windseeker, which drop from the Molten Core raid.

Once you have both, you’ll begin a quest chain to forge Thunderfury. During this quest, you’ll need to defeat Ragnaros to get the Essence of the Firelord and collect 10x Elementium Bars, which are crafted from materials found in Blackwing Lair.

Completing Blackwing Lair on Hardmode allows you to earn Shadowflame weapons, which are upgraded versions of the regular weapon drops featuring violate-hazed visuals. Above, you can see three examples of how each weapon type looks with this effect.
