Blizzard Game Master’s mistake: Wrong item returned to the player
A player approached Blizzard for help after being deceived by an unscrupulous crafter. The company returned the wrong item because of the Game Master’s mistake.

Sometimes, during WoW adventures, players face circumstances where they need a certain crafter’s help. Recently, ibebilly96 faced the same issue. But the common crafting request took an unexpected turn of events. At first, other Redditers had a hard time understanding what happened, so here is a full story.
Unfortunate Deal
The player approached an Alchemy crafter to Transmute: Arcanite for him. Sadly, ibebilly96 did not have mastered Alchemy himself. To avoid such problem with this extremely helpful profession, you can read or Alchemy guide. For this process to happen, our hero had to provide the crafter with a Thorium Bar and Arcane Crystal. The Arcane Crystal is quite a rare resource that can take time to find from ore nodes (approximately 1-3% chance) and costs a lot of gold at Auction House. All of this has already made this deal risky. And the worst-case scenario came true.
The crafter obtained resources from our hero via trade and simply logged out. Our player was disheartened by such a betrayal. However, he didn’t surrender. How can he just leave things like that and forget about all the resources he gave to the scammer? This is why our hero contacted Blizzard so that justice would prevail.
How Blizzard GM mistake happened
Blizzard Game Master familiarized with the situation and decided to help the deceived player. The support worker promptly banned the scammer and warned the player that all stolen resources would be returned to him. Imagine our hero’s surprise when, besides Thorium Bar, he found an Arcane Crystal Pendant on his account. The Game Master accidentally gave the player the wrong item.
Arcane Crystal Pendant is a neck item that can only be obtained by Mages for completing Destroy Morphaz quest in The Temple of Atal’Hakkar. Moreover, this item has to be yet unavailable during the current patch. Such a mistake likely happened because of the support worker’s inattention and the similarity in the icon images of Arcane Crystal and Arcane Crystal Pendant items.
How Blizzard GM fail turned out
However, ibebilly96 isn’t too upset with the situation. Being a Rogue and having Arcane Crystal Pendant in your inventory is amazing, considering the criteria to get one. Even though this neck is completely useless for his class because of only Intellect stat, it is a nice trophy. Now, the nasty scammer is banned, and the player has an incredible story to tell.

Such mistakes while returning items are not extraordinary, yet they are not common. Blizzard has already mixed up the items in a similar way. For example, there was a loud case with Martin Fury shirt. That time, the support worker accidentally sent this Game Master item to a player while restoring a stolen account. Thankfully, Arcane Crystal Pendant can’t give players an instakill ability against any enemy.
At the end of the day, Game Masters are humans, too. Sometimes, they can fail and disturb the confidence of the players. For example, there are also known cases when Blizzard GMs failed while returning items, didn’t answer tickets, unfairly banned players, or even took items from players. However, there are much more pleasant interactions with Blizzard support workers, when they became even a moral support for players.
