Why choose Skinning as a MoP profession

Skinning can be a great way to make gold and have a stable income in Mists of Pandaria Classic because many items in WoW require leather to craft. If you pick Skinning as your profession, you can gather rare leathers and furs from Beasts, Dragonkin, Silithids, and even sometimes Humanoids like Worgens while you level up, which is pretty handy. Aside from that, Skinning goes really well with Leatherworking since leather is the primary material required for this profession.

In Mists of Pandaria Classic, each profession offers its owner a unique perk. Thanks to Skinning, you get a buff called Master of Anatomy, which boosts your Critical Strike Rating depending on your skill at this profession. This profession perk isn’t the strongest: it lacks variety, and the overall crit bonus is low compared to other professions.

Best combo with Skinning in MoP Classic

Combining Skinning with Leatherworking is a smart choice, as you don’t have to rely on the Auction House and purchase any materials from there. With Skinning, you can gather hides from slain beasts, the primary materials required for Leatherworking, allowing you to level up both professions simultaneously. MoP Classic leveling Skinning and optimal routes

Below, you will find the optimal Mists of Pandaria Classic Skinning routes for each level range.

Skinning routes 1-60

Don’t forget to buy a Skinning Knife. You can find it at Leatherworking Supply vendors near your trainer or at any General/ Trade goods vendor. The knife doesn’t need to be equipped, but you must have one in your bag to skin mobs.

If you enchant your gloves with the Formula: Enchant Gloves – Skinning, you’ll be able to skin enemies one level higher than usual. However, note that even if a mob is red or orange to you, it doesn’t guarantee a skill-up. While it’s more likely, it won’t happen every time.

• What you learn: Skinning Journeyman (starting from skill level 75)

Barrens (Horde)

Loch Modan (Alliance)

You can leave the zones at level 200, but be aware that there are some level 41 mobs in Thousand Needles, requiring a Skinning skill of 205 to skin them.

Un’Goro Crater

TBC Skinning routes 300-330

• What you learn: Skinning Master (starting from skill level 300)

Start by skinning Starving Helboars around Zeth’gor until your skill level reaches 305. Once reached, proceed to the next area and start skinning Deranged Helboars. When your skill level reaches approximately 310, move on to skinning Razorfang Hatchlings and Razorfang Ravagers.

Hellfire Penninsula

Hunt and skin Talbuks and Clefthoofs within the marked area.

Nagrand

WotLK Skinning routes 350-395

• What you learn: Skinning Grand Master (starting from skill level 375)

You will find packs of Wooly Rhino Matriarchs and Wooly Rhino Calves roaming both north and south of Warsong Hold. The respawn rate is quick, ensuring a constant supply of mobs to defeat. While farming north of Warsong Hold is generally preferable, the southern area is a good alternative if the northern area is already crowded.

Borean Tundra

You will find numerous Hardknuckle Foragers and Hardknuckle Chargers in the vicinity of Frenzyheart Hill in Sholazar Basin.

Sholazar Basin

Cataclysm Skinning routes 450-500

• What you learn: Skinning Illustrious Grand Master (starting from skill level 450)

Mount Hyjal

Mists of Pandaria Skinning routes 500-560

• Targets: Wyrmhorn Turtles
• Location: Valley of the Four Winds
