Why should you choose Jewelcrafting as your profession?
Being a Jewelcrafter involves transforming raw gemstones into valuable gems that can be added to your gear to enhance your stats. With the Prospecting skill, you can extract Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Orange, Green, and Meta gems from ore. Additionally, you can craft a variety of high-quality and low-level rings and amulets, which are often tough to obtain while leveling up and can be sold at the Auction House for a good profit.
Also, Jewelcrafting lets you use unique gems exclusive to Jewelcrafters. These gems are much more potent than any other ones, boosting your stats. However, you can only have three of them equipped at a time:
- Bold Chimera’s Eye – +67 Strength
- Brilliant Chimera’s Eye – +67 Intellect
- Delicate Chimera’s Eye – +67 Agility
- Flashing Chimera’s Eye – +67 Parry Rating
- Precise Chimera’s Eye – +67 Expertise Rating
- Fractured Chimera’s Eye – +67 Mastery Rating
- Quick Chimera’s Eye – +67 Haste Rating
- Smooth Chimera’s Eye – +67 Critical Strike Rating
- Subtle Chimera’s Eye – +67 Dodge Rating
- Mystic Chimera’s Eye – +67 Resilience Rating
- Solid Chimera’s Eye – +101 Stamina
- Sparkling Chimera’s Eye – +67 Spirit
- Rigid Chimera’s Eye – +67 Hit Rating
- Stormy Chimera’s Eye – +84 Spell Penetration
What is the best combo with Jewelcrafting in WoW
Combining Mining with Jewelcrafting is awesome because it gives you the raw materials you need for Jewelcrafting through Prospecting, which breaks down ore into gems. This way, you can save gold because you won’t have to buy ore or gems from vendors or at the Auction House. Crafting items at higher skill levels can get pretty expensive due to the large amount of materials required, but Mining can really help you save a good amount of gold.
Approximate materials required
Below, you will find an estimate of the materials required to level up your Jewelcrafting profession from level 1 to 525.

Cataclysm Classic Jewelcrafting guide: Leveling
And now, it’s time for the main dish. Below, you will discover a comprehensive Cataclysm Classic Jewelcrafting guide that will let you advance through as many levels with the least materials needed as possible.
Draenei characters receive a +5 boost to their Jewelcrafting skill due to their passive ability, Gemcutting. This additional 5 points means that Jewelcrafting recipes remain at the orange difficulty level for 5 extra skill points, allowing you to save a significant amount of gold by crafting lower-level recipes for an additional 10 skill points.
Apprentice Jewelcrafting
Purchase a Jeweler’s Kit from the Jewelcrafting Supplies vendor located near your trainer or from General or Trade Goods vendors.
- 1-35: 55x Delicate Copper Wire – 110x Copper Bar. Save these for future use. You can stop crafting them once you reach level 35 and only craft more if necessary.
- 35-50: 15x Tigerseye Band – 15x Tigerseye, 15x Delicate Copper Wire. You can also craft 15x Malachite Pendant.

- 110-120: 10x Heavy Stone Statue – 80x Heavy Stone. If Heavy Stone is affordable, you can use it to level up to 130. However, if it’s quite expensive, you can continue crafting Heavy Jade Ring and Ring of Twilight Shadows instead.

- 185-210: 28x Engraved Truesilver Ring – 28x Truesilver Bar, 56x Mithril Filigree. This recipe will be yellow for the last few points, so you might have to make a few more.

WotLK Jewelcrafting
Grand Master Jewelcrafting
Once you have reached level 65, visit your Jewelcrafting trainers to continue your Grand Master journey:
- 350-395: There are approximately 50 new gem recipes available from your trainer, making it challenging to list them all here. Visit your trainer and learn one recipe from each color, or focus on a single color if you have an abundance of gems in that color. Purchase about 60x of the following gems: Bloodstone, Chalcedony, Dark Jade, Huge Citrine, Shadow Crystal, Sun Crystal (they don’t need to be the same color). Craft around 60x uncommon gems until you reach level 395.

These are all yellow recipes, so you might need to craft more than 5x.
- 400-420: 23x Stoneguard Band – 46x Eternal Earth. You might have to craft more than 23x.
- 420-425: 5x Dream Signet – 5x Titanium Bar, 5x Forest Emerald, 5x Dream Shard
Cataclysm Classic Jewelcrafting
Reaching level 75, seek out your trainers and follow this guide to reach the maximum Cataclysm Classic Jewelcrafting level:
- 420-450: Craft approximately 30 items using any of the new Uncommon Gem Cuts you learn from your trainer. However, try to avoid using Nightstone and Hessonite as you will need more of these later on. If you have plenty of Jasper, crafting Jasper Rings is the best option. You can disenchant these rings or sell them to a vendor for 5 gold each.
- 450-467: Craft around 20x uncommon gems.
- 467-475: 8x Hessonite Band – 8x Jeweler’s Setting, 16x Hessonite. If 3x Carnelian is less expensive than 2x Hessonite, you can also create Carnelian Spikes. The Jeweler’s Setting can be purchased from the vendor.
- 475-495: 20x Nightstone Choker – 20x Jeweler’s Setting, 40x Nightstone. If you still have Hessonite left, make more Hessonite Bands. Additionally, you can complete the Jewelcrafting Daily quests, which are detailed in the next step. If you’re not in a hurry, consider buying one rare gem cut and using that recipe to level up to level 500.
From this point, most recipes will need to be purchased from a vendor. To buy any of these recipes, you must complete the Jewelcrafting daily quests to earn Illustrious Jewelcrafter’s Tokens. Horde players can find Marith Lazuria in Orgrimmar, while Alliance players can find Isabel Jones in Stormwind. These NPCs initiate the daily quests and sell the recipes.
Between skill levels 495 and 500, you can create a few more Nightstone Chokers. Once you reach skill level 500, you can start making Fire Prism. Although Fire Prism has a 20-hour cooldown, it can contain Chimera’s Eye, so be sure to make one every day.
In summary, you can either craft Nightstone Chokers between skill levels 495-500 or complete the daily quests for four days to buy a meta gem recipe and use that to reach skill level 520.
Additionally, you can craft any of the following items between skill levels 510-520:
- 10x Vicious Amberjewel Band – 10x Jeweler’s Setting, 40x Amberjewel, 80x Volatile Water
- 10x Vicious Ruby Signet – 10x Jeweler’s Setting, 40x Inferno Ruby, 80x Volatile Earth
- 10x Vicious Sapphire Ring – 10x Jeweler’s Setting, 40x Ocean Sapphire, 80x Volatile Air
Darkmoon Faire Free +5 Profession Skill
Check your Calendar in-game to see if the Darkmoon Faire is open. The event is available every two weeks. It starts on Sunday and lasts for a week. During the event, you can complete quests for each profession and gain +5 skill points for each. Craft 5x from any of these:
- 520-525: 5x Vicious Sapphire Necklace – 25x Ocean Sapphire, 40x Volatile Air, 20x Volatile Fire; 5x Vicious Amberjewel Pendant – 25x Amberjewel, 40x Volatile Water, 20x Volatile Life; 5x Vicious Ruby Choker – 25x Inferno Ruby, 40x Volatile Earth, 30x Volatile Water
