WHY GENJI AND GENOS?

A recent interview featured Associate Director Aimee Dennett and Art Director Dion Rogers. They shared insights on the development of the Genos-Genji skin. The idea behind the collaboration was to bring the two worlds together. Other than the development team’s passion for anime and crossovers, Genos and Genji actually have a lot in common:

The team decided to have the hero “cosplays” as the One-Punch Man character instead of creating a fully 1-to-1 skin. They wanted to stay true to Genos’s design but didn’t want to lose Genji in the process. Fortunately, the concept artists have successfully captured their main aesthetics.

There are no confirmed plans for other future collaborations. But the team is open to exploring new possibilities in the future. This exciting event will surely delight both Overwatch and anime fans alike. And especially, don’t forget to keep a keen eye on the game lobby. You will surely find fascinating nods toward the One-Punch Man series.
