What is a WoW weekly reset

WoW Reset is the weekly refresh of time‑gated content in WoW, like raid lockouts, M+ dungeons, weekly quests, world bosses, and Great Vault rewards. In retail as well as some Classic WoW versions, many activities are tied to WoW weekly reset, a.k.a reset timer.
WoW weekly reset happens every Tuesday on US servers at 11 AM (ET) and Wednesday on EU servers at 4 AM (UTC). The Midnight expansion also has a WoW daily reset, which occurs at 7 AM local server time on US servers and at 3 AM local server time on EU servers.
Why you need to know WoW weekly reset

As we mentioned before, World of Warcraft weekly reset timer is tied to many activities which are crucial for your character progression.
- Raid lockouts: While you can run multiple raids with your guild, remember that loot is only obtainable once per week. This also affects your Great Vault rewards, which we’ll cover shortly. Lockouts apply even to Legacy raids, for example, your character can only farm Invincible once per week.
- Weekly quests and world bosses: The same principle applies here. Even older content, like MoP world bosses, follows the WoW weekly reset schedule.
- Great Vault: This is arguably the activity most tightly tied to the weekly reset. The Great Vault lets you earn high ilvl gear based on your weekly effort. You can also unlock Hero or Mythic tracks, which is why you’ll see a surge of players logging in right after the reset.
- Dungeons: Dungeons follow both WoW daily reset and weekly resets. You can run a dungeon for loot up to 10 times in Normal difficulty per hour, 1 Heroic dungeon per day, and Mythic difficulty dungeon per week.
Note
Mythic difficulty dungeons have lockout, but M+ dungeons don’t.
WoW Classic weekly reset: How does it work

WoW servers reset apply to all Classic Vanilla versions (Anniversary, SoD, and Hardcore alike). It has both universal Weekly Reset WoW time, as well as some individual reset timer. For example if you’ve completed Zul’Gurub on Monday you will be able to get loot next time only on Thursday.
Note
You may wonder how weekly reset works in MoP Classic. The answer is that it resets all weekly lockouts and activities with the global reset, just like other versions of WoW.
