Why should you choose Enchanting as your profession?

Why Should You Choose Enchanting as Your Profession?

Enchanting remains a standout profession in “The War Within,” offering a host of benefits that make it a compelling choice for players looking to enhance their gameplay and economic prospects. Here’s why Enchanting should be at the top of your list:

Overall, Enchanting in “The War Within” offers a blend of high demand, profitability, and versatility. Whether you’re interested in crafting powerful enchantments, making gold through disenchanting, or creating unique cosmetic items, Enchanting provides numerous advantages that make it a worthwhile profession to pursue.

What is the best combo with Enchanting in WoW?

The best profession to pair with Enchanting in World of Warcraft is Tailoring. Tailoring allows you to craft cloth armor and bags, which you can either sell for profit or disenchant into valuable materials like Arcane Dust. This synergy ensures a steady supply of enchanting materials, making it easier to level up Enchanting and create high-demand enchants.

Additionally, Tailoring doesn’t require a gathering profession, as cloth drops naturally from humanoid mobs. This makes it a convenient and efficient pairing. Whether you’re crafting gear for yourself or selling enchanted items at the Auction House, this combo maximizes both your personal gear optimization and gold-making potential.

Approximate materials required for Enchanting

These are the estimated materials needed to reach skill level 70. We haven’t included the materials for levels 70-100 because there are numerous options available through Drops, Vendors, and Specializations. Since the choices vary, it’s more efficient to acquire them as needed later on.

Enchanting Trainer Location

You can learn the War Within Enchanting skill from the Enchanting trainer in Dornogal.

Leveling Khaz Algar Enchanting

Racials

Blood Elf characters gain a +5 Enchanting skill bonus, while Kul Tirans receive a +2 boost from their racial traits. This extra skill helps keep recipes in the orange range for longer, allowing you to earn more skill points before they turn yellow. As a result, you can maximize your leveling efficiency by crafting lower-level recipes for additional points, ultimately saving gold on more expensive materials.

Enchanting Vellum

You should put all enchants on an Enchanting Vellum and try selling them at the Auction House.

When crafting enchants, you can streamline the process by selecting Vellum as the “Optional Target” directly in your profession window. This saves you from having to manually click on the Vellum each time you create an enchant. Vellums can be conveniently purchased from Enchanting Supply Vendors, making this method both efficient and easily accessible.

Disenchanting

Before you start leveling your Enchanting, make sure to disenchant any leftover gear from questing, dungeons, or world quests. Disenchanting these items can grant you skill points up to level 25, providing a valuable head start in your Enchanting progression while also supplying you with essential materials.

First Craft Bonus

Each time you craft an enchantment for the first time, you’ll earn 1 Khaz Algar Enchanting Knowledge point. This resource is especially valuable, as it’s capped weekly from other sources. To make the most of this, our leveling guide is structured to help you gain the “First Craft Bonus” from as many enchants as possible while they still grant skill points. This approach ensures you maximize your Khaz Algar Knowledge without having to revisit grey recipes later on.

1 – 15

15 – 18

Craft one from each of these to get your First Craft bonuses.

1x Mirror Powder – 1x Leyline Residue, 3x Storm Dust, 1x Gleaming Shard
1x Whisper of Armored Avoidance – 10x Storm Dust
1x Whisper of Silken Avoidance – 10x Storm Dust

18 – 27

3x Runed Bismuth Rod – 3x Bismuth Rod, 30x Storm Dust

If you haven’t picked up a  Bismuth Rod yet, you can easily purchase one from the Enchanting Supply Vendors near your trainer.

When you craft Runed Bismuth Rods check their secondary stats—if one has Resourcefulness, be sure to equip it while leveling to save on materials. You can sell any extras for a profit. If none of your rods have Resourcefulness, simply equip any one of them for now and continue leveling.

Enchanting Specializations

When you hit 25, you will unlock Enchanting specializations.

Which Specialization to choose first?

For your initial specialization, we recommend starting with Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment. This selection provides a balanced foundation, offering essential benefits across various aspects of Enchanting. In the next step, we’ll delve into why this combination is particularly advantageous.

Remember, you’ll have the opportunity to master all four specializations eventually. So, there’s no need to stress over your first choice. To unlock subsequent specializations, you’ll need 50 skill points for the second, 60 for the third, and 75 for the fourth.

27 – 50

By investing 5 points each into the Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment specializations, followed by 15 points into the Deceptive Decorations By investing 5 points each into the Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment specializations, followed by 15 points into the Deceptive Decorations sub-specialization, you’ll unlock 22 new recipes. These include consumable items that allow you to transform into various races, such as the  Gleeful Glamour – Worgen, which turns you into a Worgen. You can earn First Craft bonuses from all of these recipes, totaling 22 knowledge points for the 20 you invest, along with around 23 Enchanting skill points.

This setup not only provides you with 22 knowledge points from the First Craft bonuses for the 20 points you invest but also grants approximately 23 Enchanting skill points. More importantly, these recipes are frequently requested in NPC crafting orders. Mastering them is crucial, as NPC Crafting Orders will be your primary source of Artisan’s Acuity in The War Within expansion.

Materials needed:

Step by step

  1. Unlock the Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment specialization specialization.
  2. Put 5 points into Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment.
  3. Learn Deceptive Decorations and put 5 points into it.
  4. Craft the 6 Gleeful Glamour you just learned.
  5. Put another 5 points in the sub-specialization.
  6. Click on the Filter button in your profession window and tick “First Craft bonus”. It will be easier to see which ones you haven’t crafted yet.
  7. Craft the new Gleeful Glamours, then put in another 5 points.
  8. Craft the last few Gleeful Glamour, but don’t put any more into the subspecialization. You don’t have to max it out, the last 5 points won’t teach you new recipes.

Alternative recipes

If you prefer an alternative leveling approach, especially if you’re using a dedicated disenchanter character or wish to bypass the crafting order system, here’s a streamlined method to reach level 100. This approach focuses on efficiency without engaging with NPC orders, allowing you to level up quickly while concentrating on other aspects of gameplay.

Total materials needed: 395x Storm Dust

50 – 70

70 – 91

These Severed enchants offer the most cost-effective way to level up, as they are inexpensive to craft and grant 2 skill points each. Since they all require the same materials, here’s what you’ll need to craft 11 of them:

List of Chant Enchants

Chant of Burrowing RapidityDrop: World Creatures
Chant of Leeching FangsDelves: Heavy Trunk

91 – 100

While the previous Chant Enchants provide skill points up to 100, they turn green for the final 5 points, which may limit their effectiveness if you’re selling them at the Auction House. Instead, The Authority enchants are a superior choice if you can obtain them. Each of these enchants grants 3 skill points, meaning you’ll only need to craft 3 of them to reach level 100 efficiently.
