Complete guides to Horrific Visions in The War Within Patch 11.1.7:
What are Horrific Visions

Revisited Horrific Visions are repeatable instances designed for solo players or small groups of up to five. They’re here to give players new challenges, better rewards, and more content to enjoy while waiting for the next major update.
Horrific Visions Revisited brings back the popular “rogue-lite” scenarios from Battle for Azeroth, where you’ll enter twisted versions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar, corrupted by N’Zoth. There’s no strict roles requirement for Tank and Healers, so players can all queue freely.
You’ll fight your way through five zones filled with enemies and objectives. Before your Sanity meter runs out, you need to complete as many objectives as possible and defeat the final boss:
- Alleria Windrunner in Stormwind
or
- Thrall in Orgrimmar
Sanity drains over time and from enemy attacks. If it hits zero, the run ends. You’ll need to balance speed and strategy. The better you perform, the better the rewards, including gear, cosmetics, achievements, and more.
What’s new in Patch 11.1.7: Differences from BfA Horrific Visions
- No entry keys: Unlimited entries, loot is capped weekly based on difficulty.
- Warbound progress: Horrific Visions Revisited features Warband-wide progression, so unlocks like Faceless Masks, Hourglass upgrades, and Tribute bonuses carry over to all your characters.
- New rewards: Heroic-level gear, new cosmetics, and weapon models.
- Improved Talent Tree: Expanded progression with permanent buffs.
- Faceless Masks expanded: 3 new masks add more challenge and variety.
- Companion system: Soridormi’s constructs assist in runs.
How to start Revisited Horrific Visions

To start Horrific Visions Revisited, pick up the quest Seeking Knowledge of the Past. It appears automatically when you log in or can be found in your quest journal. The quest will send you to Soridormi in Dornogal at coordinates [35, 62].
Soridormi will lead you to a special portal situated at the southern edge of the Coreway in Dornogal. Interact with this portal to queue for Horrific Visions’ central hub.
Here’s a list of all vendors in the Horrific Visions hub, where to find them, and what they sell:
Vendor | Coordinate | What you can buy |
---|---|---|
Torie (Provisioner) | 34.4, 68.6 | Mounts and cosmetic items |
TickTak (Veteran Weaponsmith) | 34.0, 68.8 | Veteran track weapons |
Rhythferr (Champion Weaponsmith) | 34.2, 68.4 | Champion track weapons |
Chreni (Heroic Weaponsmith) | 34.0, 68.6 | Heroic track weapons |
Horrific Vision gameplay and mechanics

Note
You can bring your own group, but remember, Horrific Visions scales in difficulty based on the party’s number of players.
Horrific Visions patch 11.1.7 take place in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Each of these two corrupted areas is divided into five zones:
- A central starting area
- Two corrupted side zones
- Two lost zones.
You’ll begin in the center and push outward, facing increasingly difficult enemies as they progress toward the final boss, Alleria or Thrall.
A full clear where you complete all five zones before defeating the final boss offers the best rewards, including high-value gear and exclusive cosmetics.
Sanity and life
A central mechanic is Sanity, a time-limited resource that drains constantly during a run. It’s reduced further by enemies, hazards, and Faceless Mask modifiers. If it hits zero, the run ends, regardless of health.
By default, you only have one life in Horrific Visions. However, with the right upgrades, you can gain a single self-resurrection, allowing you to revive once per run. You can restore or slow its loss with orbs and permanent talents that boost Sanity regen, capacity, and resistance.
Horrific Visions companion: Construct of Soridomi

Solo players or groups missing a role can summon the Construct of Soridormi to help out. Whether you need a Tank, DPS, or Healer, this companion can fill the gap, making Horrific Visions Revisited fully accessible, even for those who prefer going solo.
To activate the Construct of Soridomi in Horrific Visions, interact with the altar near her in the Horrific Visions room. There, you can choose a role for her to assist you or select the option to enter the challenge without her.
Tip
If you’re confident running Horrific Visions solo, don’t summon Construct of Soridomi as doing so increases enemy health.
Progression comes through Displaced Corrupted Mementos, earned from enemies, chests, and objectives. These fuel permanent Talent Tree upgrades like reduced Sanity drain, more damage, auto-revives, and utility buffs. You can also find temporary Tribute Buffs that grant short-term boosts during runs.
Faceless Masks and difficulty scaling

Faceless Masks are modifiers that you can activate before entering a Horrific Vision to increase the difficulty in exchange for significantly better rewards. There are eight masks in total, five of which return from Battle for Azeroth and three that are brand-new in 11.1.7.
To activate these masks, interact with the corresponding altars before beginning a Horrific Vision. In group settings, only one player needs to have the mask equipped to activate it for the entire group.
If you’re wondering how to unlock Masks in Horrific Visions, we’ve put together a dedicated guide to help you get all eight Masks, understand their effects, plus some tips and tricks along the way:
Note
- The effects of these masks stack, meaning you can activate multiple masks at once to raise the stakes of a run dramatically.
- The number of masks used directly impacts the quality of rewards. For example, completing a full clear with five Masks activated guarantees Hero-track gear, while eight-mask runs offer a chance at even rarer Hero-track loot.
- Certain achievements and weapon unlocks also require completing runs with specific mask thresholds.
Horrific Visions Revisited Corruptions: Rune Enchants

One of the features returning in Patch 11.1.7 Horrific Visions Revisited is Corruption, now reimagined as Helmet Rune Enchants. Originally introduced in Battle for Azeroth, Corruption effects offered powerful bonuses but came with heavy drawbacks.
In the 11.1.7 updated version, these Rune Enchants provide impactful bonuses and can significantly enhance your performance during runs. However, they are temporary and only available during Season 2 of The War Within.

Horrific Visions Revisited upgrade system

In WoW Horrific Visions Revisited, the upgrade system returns with a modern twist. Inspired by Battle for Azeroth’s Titanic Research, this version splits progression into two systems: the Hourglass of Horrific Visions and Tributes. Together, they provide long-term power gains for tackling Horrific Visions Revisited more efficiently.
Hourglass of Horrific Visions

The Hourglass acts as the primary upgrade tree, offering key survival and performance enhancements inside Revisited Horrific Visions. It’s a streamlined successor to the original Titanic Research system. For a complete Hourglass of Horrific Visions for both solo and group play, be sure to check out our guide here:
